Great castle with moat and ability to climb stairs to tops of towers. Free to national trust members
A fantastic castle and one of the best examples of a moated castle dating back to 1380, with a turbulent history to match.
It's an iconic and romantic, ruined castle surrounded by a moat; accessible by road but also by boat on the river Rother (from the Bodiam Boating Station) and also by steam on The Kent and East Sussex Railway (departing from their Tenterden, Rolvenden or Northiam stations).
