Rocky Knob Recreation Area is a 4,500 acres recreation area along the Blue Ridge Parkway, which spans from mile markers 167–174. The park is home to 15 miles of hiking trails, 81 tents camping sites, 28 RV sites, and 72 picnic sites.

Okay, this is one of our favorite hikes. We would say it's a moderate 3 mile hike offering grand views of the surrounding mountains. Pack a picnic and eat about two miles in along the top ridge line. You're getting close after you cross the parkway and climb a set of wooden stairs over a fence into a pasture!
