The best snoballs in Nola--don't let anyone tell you different. The creamiest ice in town with great, interesting, not overly sweet flavors. A few favorite combinations: watermelon and ginger, cream of root beer add ice cream, pineapple and cream of coconut, spiced cranberry and eggnog if it happens to be winter. Basically all outside (order at the door and sit on the bench to eat).

The most famous (and best) of the many New Orleans sno-ball stands. Like most sno-ball stands, they are seasonal and close around Halloween until it gets warm again. They have won a James Beard award and seriously deserve it. Expect to have a wait when it is really hot outside.

This is the best sno ball in the city, only open seasonally. Worth the line!

You ain't lived if you haven't had a Hansen's Sno Bliz. Be prepared for a line out of the door on a nice day. I suggest the junior atomic...two flavors, hot marshmallow, crushed pineapple, cream...not for the faint of heart.

Don’t leave the city without trying a sno-ball, a New Orleans confection that dates back to the ’30s made with finely shaved ice and flavored cane sugar syrup.
