Why locals recommend it

Abrons is part of the Henry Street Settlement—one of the original settlement houses crucial to immigrants on the Lower East Side in the early 20th century. It hosts incredible dance by cutting-edge choreographers like Aynsley Vandenbroucke, Abby Z and the New Utility, and Ivy Baldwin. Martha Graham had some of her first performances here. In January, check out the American Realness Festival. It’s the trend-setting international festival that seeks to present new dance and contemporary performance that’s reshaping the boundaries of these forms. I love coming here to support my friends and fellow performers.
