For anyone with a buttery or sweet tooth, this is your pastry nirvana. Purebread started at the Whistler Farmer's Market, and sheer demand has brought them (finally) to a retail location in Vancouver. To die for.

Parks & Nature

It's just the best. Walk, jog, ride a Mobi bike, have a nice picnic in the park, or circumnavigate the park and end up in the West End for a memorable meal and views from English Bay.

Shopping

Aside from the Public Market, largely focusing on fresh and prepared foods, the Island is also home to dozens of creative enterprises. I can still spend several hours walking Granville Island and feel like it's a day beautifully spent.

Arts & Culture

World class exhibits and an amazing selection of Canadian and West Coast art, including several by Group of Seven member Emily Carr. Check out FUSE, a once monthly evening event of performance, music, art, and wonderful people watching.

A beautifully designed and curated museum on the grounds of the University of British Columbia. While the focus is on world cultures, I particularly love the artifacts, craft work, and exploration of the First Nations people of the Pacific Northwest. While on campus, you could check out the UBC Farm or the Nitobe Memorial or UBC Botanical Gardens.
