Only 45 minutes from Richmond, get away from it all and enjoy the tranquility and peacefulness of the forest. This off-grid camping experience is anything but rough. Enjoy sleeping on a memory foam queen sized bed, cooking in the full camp kitchen, or relaxing on the porch or by the fire. You can stroll 2 miles of trails and wade in beautiful Whetstone Creek. At the end of the day, take advantage of a hot outdoor shower (seasonal) and listen to a gentle breeze as it lulls you to sleep.

Finally it's fall. Great camping weather. Electric blanket and propane heater. Half hour to Shenandoah National park. Or just walk our many fields and visit with our animals. Secluded and quiet, and yet close to restaurants, caverns, wineries, battlefields and more. Or just hang out and watch the sun and the moon come up. Catch lightning bugs. Look at the stars from our outside bed. For larger groups, we also have a cabin next door that sleeps 4. Fire pit w/free wood and s'mors .

Stay under the stars with the noisy creek just outside your window, and enjoy the soaking tub by the creek. Fish, float, wade, grill on the wood pellet grill or the outside charcoal grill. Sit by the firepit, and listen to nature. A queen size memory foam bed, a futon, an outside shower, composting toilet, running potable water, a short drive to wineries, breweries, and local dining. The Blue Ridge Parkway and I-77, is 6 miles away. A separate bathroom is also on the property.

Natural Living in a Bell Tent

Natural living in a Large Bell Tent in a Quiet & Peaceful Setting. Separate Private, Outdoor Bath House with a composting toilet and hot shower & an antique wash basin. We use only Natural & Organic cleaning and Laundry detergents. All bedding and linens are natural fibre and 100% cotton. Oscillating fan for the warmer temperatures. An Indoor approved Buddy propane space heater is provided in cooler weather. (We are pet free at this time because of the compact space.)

“The Black Bear Tent” is located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Shenandoah River. The “BB Tent” is just steps to the river, stocked pond, and pavilion. You can enjoy all the outdoors but within minutes to town. The “BB Tent” is centrally located with a short drive to local Brew Houses, Wineries/Vineyards, National Parks, hikes, local eats, and so much more.
