Restful peaceful and quiet my house is set in the forest yet close to town. I have another room listed separately "Comfy single room with kauri tree view." Wake to the sound of native birds calling and see pigeons - kereru - tui and fantails as they dip and glide over the house. Kiwi call at night and sometimes come to your window. Please note that the house is about a 40 minute walk from the bus stop. I might be able to pick you up. Contact me. Come take your load off and refresh.
“To say that Julie’s place is the best Airbnb in New Zealand is an understatement! It’s probably the best in the world. She was incredibly kind and welcoming, and even made us freshly baked bread for breakfast! Her home was clean, lovely, and in a great location. Really couldn’t have asked for more, she went above and beyond what I expected. Thanks for everything Julie!”
This gorgeous house is built right in the boughs of the trees reconnecting you with tales like the Lord of the Rings and the Magic Faraway Tree. Take an adventure into this dreamy dwelling that's nestled in its own private stand of native trees. This quiet getaway is only a few minutes from the city, and based on our secluded 28 acre property. Breakfast items are also provided for you to prepare at your leisure, leaving you free to spend as much time as possible at this unique location.
“I've stayed in some pretty fabulous Airbnbs all over the world, but the Fairytale Treehouse takes the cake. Even after seeing the photos and reading the reviews online, we still weren't fully prepared for just how amazing this place is. First, the treehouse was far bigger than we expected; even with the upstairs mezzanine and balcony closed off due to council regulations, it's a sizeable one-bedroom cottage with towering ceilings and huge banks of windows, not the tiny, dark little hut one might imagine. Second, it's amazingly comfortable and well-equipped, with a full kitchen, a heat pump, a separate bath and shower, and many other amenities. Third, Denise and Glenn had laid out all kinds of extra luxuries, from fresh-baked bread and other breakfast supplies to a high-end espresso machine. Fourth, the location is absolutely beautiful, tucked away in a grove of massive trees on a lovely horse farm just a stone's throw from Whangarei yet seemingly out of this world. And finally, the house itself is simply magical, built around a gigantic macrocarpa tree that seems to wrap the interior and its quirky decor in a massive organic embrace. On a personal note, when I walked into the bedroom and saw the poster on the wall (a photo of a lantern in front of a river and cathedral), I immediately turned to my husband and said, "That's Basel!"; somewhere in another life (30+ years ago) I owned that same poster myself, a memento of a year spent in Switzerland as a high school student. Fittingly -- given that the treehouse incorporates several items from the Chronicles of Narnia movie set -- I thought at once of a line from C.S. Lewis' The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe: "It will not go out of my mind that if we pass this post and lantern either we shall find strange adventures or else some great change in our fortunes."”

“The apartment is set in lovely countryside and thanks to the good instructions provided by Phil we were able to find it easily. It was very clean, nicely decorated and we really appreciated the heaters provided which made the studio very cosy. There were lovely toiletries in the bathroom. We didn’t do much cooking but the kitchen seemed to be quite well equipped. The chocolates and candies were an unexpected treat. Phil responded to our messages very quickly and his recommendations for eateries in Whangarei were excellent. We really enjoyed the meals we had in the Quail cafe and Quay restaurant. We really enjoyed our short stay (1 night only) and are very likely to book again and will be recommending to our friends.”
