“Stayed over at Janet's for an interview, place was clean all amenities provided and breakfast was provided, delighted with everything.”
Quirky, open-plan,split level, self-contained annex attached to a 16th century farmhouse (with tennis court), which is situated on a nature reserve lake. 15 min drive to Central Reading and a 20 min walk (1 Mile) to Theale train station-38 mins to London Pad (please not that part of the walk there is not a pavement, so it maybe be best to come by car or taxi).
“Really nice and cosy place, just as described. Hosts were fab at taking care of us. Let us use their bikes, offered us coats and sports equipment and were very helpful all around. We stayed for four nights, pool was quite cold for the first two days. However, hosts kindly put the heating on for us and the next two days were really nice in the pool. Extra comfortable bed and sofa and the place was kept nice and clean.”
One of the top 30 quirky places to stay in the UK chosen by 'MuddyStilletos' travel guide. Sleeping two, the hut is perfect for couples, friends or solo travellers. It is close to beautiful walks, local pubs, farm shops and historic towns ... or simply a place to unwind, read a good book and get back to nature.
“So many great things to say - it really is the perfect getaway from London for a few nights. We took the train from London to Newbury and a short taxi ride (£18/£20) from Newbury to the hut. I imagine the experience might be even better being without a car - it adds to the point of getting into the country for remoteness and it really is quite peaceful. You'll need to walk to the pubs and to the nearest shop too, however, it encourages you to get out and enjoy the scenery and the fact you have to walk / the remoteness really wasn't an issue for us at all. The hut was perfect, just as I had imagined it would be. The host arranged for a cake to be made by a local baker for my girlfriend's birthday - one of the best Victoria sponge's I have ever had. Our favourite pubs were the Fox and the Red Lion - great pub food and very reasonable prices. I highly recommend heading out into the country to stay at Helen's hut!”
