“We rented the cottage for an entire month and had a great time. Ron and Ann are very welcoming and pleasant people. They were there when you needed them but certainly respected our privacy. The cottage had everything you may possible need; pots, pans, all kinds of utensils, salt/pepper, lots of towels and sheets, cleaning stuff, vacuum cleaner etc. We had some cooler days, but there are 2 electric heaters in the cottage which heat up the place pretty quick. Air conditioning was also working very good and all the rooms had ceiling fans. There are 2 golden retrievers in the back yard. Molly and Marley, very friendly dogs, who only pay attention to you when you're snacking something on the back porch. :) We spent most of our mornings on the back porch overlooking the canal. That was very peaceful, watching all the different birds, turtles and the occasional small fishing boat going by. The direct area is kind of quiet. I think it's mostly older people, retired or snowbirds, living there, what we liked. We had our car to visit neighbor towns and the beautiful springs in the area. The store in Barberville, where they sell all kinds of pottery and huge statues etc. is worth a visit and Deland is not that far, as well as Daytona and Ocala for shopping. Overall we had an awesome time and Ron and Ann's place is certainly recommendable!”

There are 3 acres of pasture and stalls if youd like to bring horses. You are minutes form Ocala forest. Umatilla is a small country town Get away from all the hustle and bustle. Mount Dora offers many food and shopping possibilities. It is a small historic village 20 min away and the Orlando attractions 1 hour.
“Such a lovely space! I am traveling for work and booked a stay here at the last minute and Amy was so accommodating and was great with communication, responded to my questions immediately. The guest suite was super clean, with spacious bathroom. I loved that the entire front wall facing the pool and lake was windows. (But with shades so you can make it as dark or as bright as you choose). The king size bed was super comfortable. The driveway where you park as a guest right next to the space and it was under a carport instead of the hot sun. The views of the property and lake right outside were stunning. My favorite part of the stay was the super beautiful horse “Pepper” that greets you whenever you drive in and out of the property. (If you wish) When you slow down, the horse walks right towards your car, (behind the fence) and Amy left me a little bag of carrots 🥕 which I got to feed to both the horse and the beautiful goats! The unexpected #pettherapy was an unexpected bonus. ❤️ I travel to Tavares often and I hope to stay again soon!”
The house is located on a canal directly off of the St. Johns River with excellent fishing and springs near by for swimming and great family fun. . You’ll love the home because of the location, the views, it is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
“Great place, this is our second stay, & we enjoyed it as much as last time!👍 My only minor suggestions would be darker window coverings for the bedrooms & a tv in the second bedroom. Hosts are very friendly & most accommodating!”
