Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Alpena County

I wish I could put into words how amazing this stay was! There were so many activities to do here, it was insane! I wish we had more time to enjoy them. It was very peaceful, kayaking down the river was a beautiful experience (definitely recommend water shoes, rocky bottom). They are also very accommodating for pets or for babies, have extra things just in case you forget something. 100000/10 would recommend to anyone!

Lovely very clean house only a few steps away from the river and within sight of Lake Huron. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and seasonings. Fridge was stocked with condiments. Neighborhood was quiet and peaceful with friendly neighbors. Will certainly stay here again! We took in the Friday night fish fry at Connie's Cafe per Donald's recommendation and found the fish very good.

Beautiful, serene, and felt like home. My two dogs LOVED the pond out back and we all enjoyed roaming the expansive private yard. Saw a ton of deer, napped in the hammock, had a peaceful bonfire every night in the large bonfire pit. I loved the hot tub under the stars and the big jetted bathtub. Comfortable beds and the place had everything we needed to cook at home. An absolute gem and we plan to return!

Margie and Chris were excellent hosts. The communication was great throughout. Clearly, things were thought through to make the guest experience as good as possible; extra pillows, blankets, toilet paper, paper towel, etc. They left pamphlets for the area sights to see, which was very helpful. The weather was hot the first night and cold the last night of my stay and Margie ensured that I was comfortable both nights - and even offered to bring over an extra heater on the cold night. It was a private, quiet place to spend some time, but there is also a lot to do around the area within reasonable driving distance - Connie’s Cafe, which is only 7 minutes away, is a must visit. There is also Dinosaur Gardens right across the street which was pretty cool. The sinkholes and Presque Isle lighthouses are about a 45 minute drive away but are worth the trip if you like scenic drives, lighthouses, nature and plenty of Lake Huron views. All in all, this was a five star stay. Thanks, Margie!

We were in Alpena for a family celebration. We decided that we did not want to stay at a hotel this time. I did a search and found this place. I can not say enough lovely things about our stay. The home was clean and welcoming. We brought our own memory foam toppers but the beds were so comfortable that we didn't need them. The kitchen was well stocked with the minimum necessities...coffee pot, toaster, dishes, silverware. We didn't cook so we didn't look for pots and pans. The location was close to everything....we were less than 10 min. from everywhere we needed to be. We are already thinking about when we can visit again. Thank you, thank you, Tamy.

Really loved our time at this cabin overall! The location is gorgeous - the views from the back patio, the hot tub, the fire pit, and the indoor spaces are absolutely stunning. You can see so much of the lake, and of the beautiful surrounding land. The cabin is also lovely. It had lots of little touches to make it feel more comfortable, cozy, and ready to settle right in! There are a few things I wish were more clear in the listing. For example, there are two bedrooms - one has a queen bed, and one has a trundle with two twins. The other queen is a pull-out couch right in the living room. Since the cabin is mostly just one large space, that room is open to all of the space. Also, the hot tub is on a low watt plug, so it took about 5 hours for it to warm up to the point of being comfortable in chilly weather. I wish it had warmed up more quickly, or been usable right when we arrived. Overall it was a really lovely trip and I would definitely recommend it to others!

Vicki's superhost title is well earned. The place is fantastic for hosting a family. Everything we could think of we would need and more. I booked for my parents and niece to stay and unexpectedly had to stay there 2 additional nights with them and there was no shortage of bath or bed linens. The small touches like local restaurant menus, single serving condiments, and single serving toiletries won me over. The homemade muffins and abundance of lamps was a wild hit with my niece. I would 100% book with Vicki again, she's incredibly easy to work with and provided a very nice place to stay in the midst of a very stressful move.

Absolutely loved our stay here. House is beautifully done and very comfortable. Host were amazing in helping us with a late night arrival. We look forward to being able to return in the future.

Right on the water, which is exactly what we wanted. We LOVED the sun room and spent most of our time there just enjoying the view of Lake Huron. Even in early December, it was beautiful to look out at the lake and decompress from our regular lives. We came here for a weekend anniversary trip and it was a lovely getaway.
