Park your car in the secured basement carpark free of charge or you have a choice of public transport - use the bus, train or trams and all just a few minutes apart. 6 minute WALK to Glenferrie Station and Hawthorn Arts Centre, 10 minute stroll to Swinburne University, Aquatic and Leisure Centre, Lido Cinema, all supermarkets, coffee shops, cafes, restaurants and shops. No need for books either - the Library is across the road. Walk into the apartment and you are surrounded by a lovely wrap around decking and garden area to sit in, enjoy the sunshine and listen to the birds and watch the butterflies. The apartment is bathed in natural light with an abundance of windows and sliding doors bringing the outside in! For those who need it, we will provide information about the local area prior to your arrival so you can make the most of your stay and enjoy every minute. We will be happy to assist you with the purchase of a myki card/cards for your public transport. We have provided you with a detailed information folder and every instruction manual for all appliances and locks in the apartment. We live 15 to 20 minutes drive away from the apartment. It is therefore important that guests message us or telephone us prior to check-in date to give us details of anticipated time of arrival. If you are arriving from overseas and do not have access to local calls on arrival, it is important that you send us your flight details and arrival time at least 24 hours before check-in date so that we can track your flight (in case it is delayed or early) and be at the apartment to meet you and hand over keys and show you around the apartment and complex. Thereafter, you will be left in peace and quiet to enjoy your stay in "your home away from home". Hawthorn is a beautiful, green upmarket suburb just minutes from the city with picnic spots, parks, biking, and hiking trails. The shopping precincts of Richmond, Malvern, Prahran, and South Yarra are only short tram stops away. The tram stop is outside the main front door for Tram Routes 16 & 74 or 5 minutes walk to Riversdale Road or Burwood Road tramlines. Barkers Road will take you to Richmond and Victoria Gardens Shopping Centre or take a leisurely walk along Burwood Road and the Yarra River. Catch Route 75 trams along Riversdale Road to Etihad Stadium, Cooks' Cottage, Melbourne Aquarium, Federation Square and Bridge Road shopping or in the other direction to Vermont South. Catch Route 70 trams to Swan Street Shopping Centre, Melbourne Star Observation Wheel, Harbour Town Shopping Centre, Docklands, Melbourne Aquarium, MCG, Rod Laver Arena, Hisense Arena and AAMI Park. Glenferrie Train Station is your nearest station. It is just a 6 minute walk from the apartment and nearly all express trains stop at Glenferrie Station. The train will take you to Melbourne Central in under 10 minutes. Glenferrie Station is on the Lilydale, Belgrave and Alamein lines. Even crossing the road is not difficult as you have crossing lights on either side of your location. Feel safe with security cameras in the common areas of the building. The building and apartment are wheelchair accessible. The apartment is so quiet and surrounded by greenery, birds and butterflies- you wouldn't believe you are in an apartment with every convenience at your doorstep.

Step back in time to a hilltop house with views across the city through picture windows. Exposed brick and the extensive use of natural wood maintain a mid-century atmosphere, enhanced by period furnishings and gleaming softwood floors throughout. The House Manual provides information about Jack's, as we call our house. We do not host guests with accompanying pets and smoking on any part of the house and property is not acceptable. If these rules are not to your liking then please do not book. Jack's Place is an original 1960's architect designed house. A master bedroom with direct access to the bathroom (en-suite except it is the only one!). The second bedroom features jarrah flooring and exposed brick wall. The living area features a unique view across the City especially at night. Functional kitchen and laundry, air conditioning and heating. The rental terms are for the whole house but if a couple book then it is expected only one bedroom is used. On booking it is best to clarify if both bedrooms are required. If not we do not make up the second bed. Jack's Place is a free standing brick residence with its own car space. There is a walled courtyard and front lawn area/garden (yet to be fully developed ). Cate and I live behind Jack's Place and both properties share a driveway. Naturally the drive must be kept clear at all time. More than happy to be contacted with any questions relating to Ballarat in general, food, wine and things to do. This 1962 house is in Golden Point, an old area in the City of Ballarat, about 125 kilometers west of Melbourne. These days the architecture of the area varies from 1860s dwellings, California bungalows, and modern high-density residences. Ballarat's main street is Sturt St. It is about a ten minute walk to the town centre and less to major supermarkets. Parking in town is charged via meter all week. On the edge of the central business district parking is free. Parking around the restaurant area of Armstrong St is difficult. My advice is to walk to dinner and Uber home. Local buses are confusing. Only a few minutes away is The Grapes Hotel, friendly and reliable. Ballarat weather can be variable. I have no control over the weather! We are perched about 375 metres above sea level, cold in Winter and hot in Summer. Summer nights tend to cool down. To keep the house warm and you comfortable, draw the blinds and turn on the heating. There are electric panel heater available in the house. Be very aware that they are not suitable for use when young children are part of the guest party. To cool the house, draw the blinds, close all windows and unnecessary doors and set the cooling for 10C below the outside temperature.

A lovely English-style tavern with live music sits at the end of our quiet street. Killlik Rum distillery is also at the end of the street for food and cocktails. Parking out front on road (cul de sac) Bus stop on corner to access hills towns Belgrave station 10 minutes walk Steps up to the house. Two cats live on property (Buddy & Braveheart) but probably wont impact on guests unless they are cat lovers!

North Durras Beach and Durras Lake are both just down the road. Perfect if you want to be active and get out and about or just take it easy and relax in peace and quiet. Also a great overnight option if you're hiking the Murramarang South Coast walk.

Our spacious, two-storied apartment is set in beautiful gardens behind our own home. Although near to our home, it is completely self-contained, has its own entrance and guests have complete privacy. Guests can and come and go as they please. It is a short stroll to the main street, restaurants and beaches. There is off-street parking only metres from the front door. Free wifi is provided and Chromecast is set up on the television.
