Hi, we are Shelley & Ron, a couple who love to travel & to host travelers of all stripes. We are located just 1 mile from the Monongahela River and Greene River Trail in Dry Tavern/Rices Landing, PA. This is the heart of the Maxwell Basin Recreation Area where recreational boating, kayaking, hiking, biking, local festivals & a great winery are located. This is a perfect location if you are coming to the area for a class/family reunion, a college function at CalU, Waynesburg U or WVU.
“There are super hosts and then there are SUPER hosts. This one is definitely the latter! I would drive well out of my way to stay here again! Every tiny touch - from caliber and care of linens to finials to type of reading material and generosity of consumables - all of it was thoughtful and worthy of praise. Words that come to mind: Immaculate. Indulgent. Stunning. Pristine. Warm-hearted. Memorable. Ridiculously underpriced. I’ve traveled to probably 200 AirBnB places in 49 states, but plenty in Cuba, Mexico, and Europe. This is by far my favorite.”
If you enjoy privacy and pretty scenery this is the place for you. Enjoy nature and the sounds of waterfalls from the elevated deck. This two bedroom house is all by itself and has an updated kitchen. Just a short drive to Laurel Caverns, Falling Water and Ohiopyle. There is plenty of firewood on site for campfires. From the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail look for the Wickhaven Hollow sign post between mile markers 105 and 106. Driveway is on the left 1 mile up gravel road from bike trail.
“The pictures really don’t do this place justice! Such a great spot for a nice getaway. Very quiet and absolutely beautiful. Driveway was a little rocky, but they pointed that out in the listing and it’s in the woods so that’s expected. Hosts were wonderful as well. Can’t wait to return again!”
Our rooms are located above Dale’s Place (Restaurant & Bar) just .2 miles from the GAP Trail in the quiet town of Smithton. A great place to wind down after a day on the trail, river, or golf course. These are individual rooms with two shared (locking) restrooms. Downstairs, Dale’s Place (smoking establishment) has a full menu and daily food specials everyday (11am-10pm M-S Sunday 11-?), full bar, internet access, six packs to go and entertainment on weekends.
“Great overall experience! Eric was very quick to communicate, and helpful in making my stay comfortable. I stayed on a Monday night, so the bar downstairs was actually quiet. The room was exactly as expected and pictured in the listing: simple, clean, comfortable, and for the price, an excellent value. It was especially convenient to have access to ordering food from the restaurant/ bar downstairs, which I took full advantage of! Food was ready very quickly- hot and delicious, also nice that the restaurant was open till 10pm that night. I highly recommend the munchie platter, another great value! It did not disappoint, certainly made it easy to fall asleep after... I wouldn’t say the beds are the most comfortable thing in the world, so if you have the option to bring your own pillow or whatever, you might appreciate having it, (if that type thing matters to you.) Certainly wasn’t a deterrent or a deal breaker for me. I appreciated the convenience, ease of check-in, and having a cozy space all to myself for the night. The bathrooms being a communal type, was never an issue during my stay. There were 2 on the 2nd floor, and at least one was always open each and every time I needed to use it (I’m not sure what the capacity/ vacancy was for that night tho.) For those that just need a place to rest their heads for the night, I’d say Dales place is worth every penny! Definitely would stay again and recommend to anyone else traveling / looking to stay in the area, and wants to save a couple dollars on accommodations.”
