What guests are saying:

“Wow! What a vacation experience! Probably one of our best family vacations. We stayed at Moonhole over the Christmas holiday with our 2 young adult daughters for 10 days. As someone else said in another review, Burke House is EXACTLY like the pictures show. However, you certainly cannot believe your eyes until you are there. To me, it was a combination of being on a sailboat, as the wind was blowing quite a bit when we arrived, and it was fantastic. You had wind wrapping around your body and then everywhere you looked, you saw ocean. It was like a Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse with super cool trees by the open, enormous windows. It was like high-end glamping, with all of the amenities of a full kitchen, running water, flushing toilets and fresh sheets and towels. Granted, this spot is not a fit for everyone, but we are outdoorsy Colorado folks and our friends were green with envy when we showed them photos. The open living structure is unbelievable. So open, yet so private from the world around you. Every single room was designed and decorated to be completely comfortable. My family reads a lot and everyone lounged around every room and snuggled up with their books, propped up and surrounded by pillows. The beds were very comfortable and it was so great to wake up to the rising sun and hear the ocean lapping on the beach on one side of the house and hear it crashing on the rocks on the other side. Marva is Burke House's personal cook and housekeeper. What an incredible woman. She was like family by the end of the trip. Our family is not use to having anyone cook and serve us meals AND do dishes, so that was a little different for us. Since our ferry arrived early, we were able to do our provisioning together before we went up to the house. We had Marva prepare all 3 meals for us the first 2 days until we got into our groove. I can tell you it was pretty nice to have a home cooked meal and then have the kitchen cleaned up as well! She will work with you on your meal ideas and is very flexible. As we got more settled in, we tailored which meals we wanted her to be there for. For instance, some days we just wanted cereal for breakfast or we did not want her to come until dinner. We sailed on the Friendship Rose one day and when we returned, she had dinner prepared for us. Awesome. Marva also kept the house very clean, prepared our room at night with the mosquito nets, and made sure we had everything we needed. We communicated with her on What's App, so if our schedule changed, we would let her know. No pressure at all. She BAKED US HOMEMADE BREAD! For real! Plus, she made local, yummy soups and fresh key lime pie. Practical tips: 1. Moonhole is off the beaten path (which is why we chose it). We went into town every 2-3 days for diving, sailing, and exploring. It costs a minimum of $50 US roundtrip, so put that into your budget. Rookie is our man, charges a good price, and you can arrange with him roundtrip transfer. He also gave us a 2 hour island tour for a great price. Lusan or Marva has his Whats App phone #. I would not rent a car. 2. It is too rough to swim at the beach directly below the house, but just walk a bit down the beach to a calmer swimming area. Our family likes to snorkel and if you walk over to the other side of the peninsula (path close to the house), there is an area to get in. It is little rocky and I would not go if it is very windy and the surf is rough. However, as the wind got a little lighter, we were able to easily climb over the smooth rocks and have a great time. Fun fact, if you have family members swimming/snorkeling down there, you can watch them from far away on your balcony! Our girls also did some fun photo shoots on that side of the peninsula. 3. If you have creature comfort foods, bring them with you. We take some remote vacations and have always done this. We drink a ton of tea, so we brought an entire assortment to enjoy. Things like that. 4. Bring lots of books and consider a puzzle. Our family knocked out a 1000 piece puzzle on Christmas day and it was so fun. Put the pieces in a bag and cut out the top picture for easy travel. 5. Bring a headlamp for bedtime reading. If you are in bed reading, all snuggled in your nets, it is hard to get the light off. Better to turn off the bedroom lights, get tucked in and use your headlamp to read. I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to read there. 6. Download some star gazing apps before you come. Every night, the family laid in lawn chairs, watched for shooting stars, and hunted for satellites. Great way to wrap up the evening. Enjoy Moonhole! It is incredible, Lusan is a fantastic host, and Bequia is so magical!”

What guests are saying:

“Stunning escape from the busy main island! We only stayed two days but wish it was more, we had the whole place to ourselves and were able to check in early (thanks for that). Great view, great pool, beautiful beach. We loved the outdoor shower and it was lovely to sit out on the balcony and watch the boats in the day. The room was spotless and they provided mosquito sprays and burners which were helpful as there are lots of bugs, as one would expect. If you are needing snacks there is a space in the main area with a fridge and kettle etc, but its not a huge fridge so don't buy too much! Food is expensive and as great and the close restaurant and bar Jacks was, it was rather pricey. Monica was amazing at responding back and her manager on site was superb at giving advice having a chat with. Only negative would be to say the mosquito net had a few holes in so could do with fixing but that is such a small negative! As mentioned there is a bit of a hill to get back up from the beach so if incline walking is hard for you be aware, it was only a few minutes though but is steep. If came back would stay again for sure!”

What guests are saying:

“The Dragonfly is a beautiful 2 bedroom villa up the hill from Lower Bay where there is an amazing beach and lots to do. The villa has a well stocked kitchen, comfortable living area and separate laundry room in the centre. On either side is a spacious bedroom with king size bed and en suite bathroom with large shower. There was a nice welcome kit with toiletries, bath and beach towels. The outdoor patio is huge with lots of comfy chairs and a covered dining area which we used everyday. The view to the sea is spectacular!! The garden is full of flowers and hummingbirds. We also rented the one bedroom (with 1 huge bathroom) apartment just below the patio. It is just as lovely. The check-in was easy. We were met by Lucille who gave us information and was available to message anytime. The villa is sparkling clean and included housekeeping and sheets and towels changed while we were there. The only thing to know is that there is a very steep hill up to the villa. We were fine with it, we're in our 60's and do lots of hiking. It took us 10 minutes to walk up and 4 minutes down to the beach. When taking a taxi you must be sure they have 4 wheel drive as we found a couple of taxis who couldn't make it up the hill. It is worth the climb! Being up so high on the hill is a great location for a hike over to the Friendship Bay side of the island. We enjoyed our stay, and will definitely be back.”
