The Hopper Hut originally served as temporary accommodation for hop pickers. It used to house up to four families from London on their working holidays. Today, following extensive restoration, the unique square building welcomes visitors once again. Nestled on a working farm in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it offers sweeping views of Bewl Water reservoir and surrounding farms. A perfect weekend base from which to explore South East England.
“The Hopper Hut is the perfect place to stay if you want peace, privacy, amazing views and comfort. You can start your reservoir walk directly from the hopper hut too. Lots of nice touches like fresh flowers, eggs, milk, bread and delicious homemade jam. Great shower, cosy wood burner, comfy bed and seats. What a lovely place to stay, would 100% recommend. Definitely go to the The Bull in the village, great food and cosy fires.”
Located on a working cattle farm, this cosy log cabin has enough space to comfortably be occupied by up to 7 people with plenty of garden space complete with picnic tables, BBQ and a fishing pond. The farm itself is found in the centre of the High Weald area of outstanding natural beauty and is surrounded by numerous castles, Bedgebury forest and Bewl reservoir. In addition to the views, only a short drive away are plenty of shopping towns, a cinema and bowling complex.
“This cabin is just so lovely! Beautiful patch of heaven, perfect for a weekend away to properly relax and unwind. Sarissa was welcoming and super laid back which made us all comfortable. The weather was so rainy and damp which made the fire so inviting and the log cabin extra cozy. Would absolutely recommend visiting here - especially for such a reasonable price! If you’re looking for a relaxing time away, in a comfortable, cozy country setting then look no further. We’d love to come again in the summer - we can imagine the braii would be so perfect with such gorgeous views. Thanks Sarissa and family!”

“Joanna is a wonderful host - full of helpful local tips, and happy to go the extra mile for her guests. She even gave us wellington boots to help with the country walks we'd foolishly planned after a week of storms! The Barn is a self-contained, private, beautiful space. It has direct access to the garden, and is ideally placed for local walks around Bewl Water. There were so many little, nice touches that really made a difference to our stay: the bathroom with its beautiful rain shower; the coffee machine; the TV with Sky Cinema and Sky Sports; and most importantly of all THE BED. My goodness this bed will knock your socks off. I'm a tall man, so it's hard to find a bed that I feel lost in, but this one did the trick. It's so long that my feet didn't touch the end, and so wide that I could spread out without disturbing my partner next to me. Result! The Barn, and its huge, comfortable bed will be missed - thanks Joanna.”
