“We very much enjoyed our stay in this house with its nostalgic touches. It was well appointed and very clean. Perfect for our needs.”
Our comfortable self-catering cottage is situated on a farm, 30km from Graaff-Reinet. The thick walls are great insulators and keep the cottage warm in winter and cool in summer. There are two bedrooms and two additional single beds in the living area. Braai facilities are available out on a deck which also provides incredible views over the Tandjiesberg mountains and a farm dam with roaming springbuck. It is truly a break-away location. The sunrises are an added treat for the early birds.
“We spent 3 nights at Geco Casetta on a family road trip. The cottage has everything you could need, is tastefully decorated and wonderfully characterful. It has its own interesting history going back to the 40’s. The farm is extensive and very beautiful. We were lucky enough to be shown around by Graham and it was a real treat for us to see the livestock, game and workings of the farm with him. Getting to town and back is a short drive on good gravel roads. We visited Reinet House museum and the Valley of Desolation. We had storms, stars, scorching blue skies and rain in our our brief time on the farm. Watching it all from the deck was spectacular. This is a very special piece of South Africa, owned and run by a special and extremely hospitable family.”
Peach Tree Cottage is a charming Karoo cottage in the heart of Graaff-Reinet, known as the gem of the Karoo. The cottage is 170 years old and is also an historical monument. With its original yellow wood floors, high ceilings and interesting Karoo interior, the room in Peach Tree Cottage will be a tranquil haven for the tired traveler.
“We stayed for 2 nights. Great place for a stop over or if you want to explore the area. There are 2 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms at the front of the house which share an entrance. Parking is on street or behind a closed gate if necessary. There are currently severe water restrictions in place so we didn't get to use the beautiful bath. But we had a great time and were especially grateful for the aircon. Thanks for having us!”
