“The Minnow was a wonderful, restful place to stay. It’s about a ten-minute walk to the main part of town where restaurants and shops are located. We really appreciated the incredibly comfortable bed, spacious room, and the wet bar complete with cold water, sodas, and supplies for making coffee. Kathy provided everything we needed to truly relax and unwind surrounded by the charm and beauty of Cape Charles.”

“Dawn was an exceptional host. Very thoughtful, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Before we even got there we felt welcome in her home. She was quick to respond to any of my messages with detailed replies and great suggestions. The place was better than the pictures lead on and very clean. She baked us cookies! And even had a bottle of wine for us! Dawn and her husband are very nice people and my wife and I will be looking to come back to stay with them hopefully again this year.”
Nostalgic for their homeland, this new home with separate two-bedroom apartment for guests on the third level, is named YBALON, the legendary name of the Bicol Region of the Philippines before Spanish colonization. The first and second levels with an elevator, are occupied by two sisters, who built this as their retirement home. The third floor apartment has a separate staircase access, and is self-contained and private. It has a cathedral ceiling, complete kitchen, a spacious living/dining area, 1.5 Jack and Jill bath with laundry and dryer, and a large deck with panoramic view of the town. It is fully equipped with amenities for guests' comfort and enjoyment of the beach and the offerings of this vibrant historic town. Cape Charles on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake seduces with old fashioned charm, where residents are friendly and proud of their place. It is also sophisticated with fine restaurants, exclusive shops, art galleries, signature golf courses by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, and in season, joyful with festivals and community events. The beach is picturesque with its fine white sand, dunes and sea grass, a fishing pier where you can catch crabs and fish without a fee. At dusk, you can have your cocktails and watch the spectacular sunset unfold. Everything is 15 minutes walk away from the house; the beach, shops, restaurants, the park with tennis courts, and a gazebo where music is played in summertime. There is a golf cart purveyor across the street, if walking becomes undesirable. And Rayfield's drugstore next door has an old fashioned soda fountain, and country breakfast scrapple. For those who want to exert themselves, there's kayaking, hiking, bicycling, deep sea fishing, and sailing, paragliding, and of course swimming. The marshes is teeming with life and very photogenic when you catch it in the glow of sunrise or sunset. And with awe, you get a thrill driving over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel for the first time.
“This was a great place to stay. Well kept house with everything you would need to enjoy your stay. Two bedrooms, full kitchen (with everything you need to cook meals) and within walking distance of everything in Cape Charles (i.e. beach, shopping and food). Great for a family or a couple. Loved the balcony too. Check in and check out was super easy. Highly recommend.”
