  • Sail on the Schooner Fame of Salem
Haul up the sails! Take the tiller! Or just chill out with a Rum Punch or Deacon Stormy while our historic schooner slides through Salem Sound past lighthouses, forts, and waterfront homes. The captain and crew will explain the significance of the FAME, privateering, and the War of 1812. The firing of the cannon is always a highlight! We'll motor out from Pickering Wharf Marina in downtown Salem and then call for volunteers to help raise the sails. Once the sails are up, depending on the wind, we may shape a course toward Beverly... or Marblehead... or head straight out toward the islands! Our interactive crew point out landmarks, explain the operation of the schooner, and mix drinks with equal facility! The sails last roughly an hour and forty-five minutes. When we return to Pickering Wharf, you're right in the heart of downtown Salem — perfectly placed for a meal, a drink, or a stroll! Other things to note We will not sail if steady rain, high winds, or thick fog are expected. Call ahead if you are unsure about the weather. Dress for the weather — you are exposed to the elements on our 1812 schooner! This is not a cruise ship or passenger ferry! This trip is not appropriate for infants or toddlers. But once kids are 4-5 years old, they really enjoy it!

  • Sailing Adventure for up to 6 people
You'll explore Gloucester harbor and beyond aboard a very comfortable 36-foot Sailing Yacht. This will be a small group sail for up to 6 individuals. If you would like it to be a private sail please book 6 spots! You can choose to take an active role in sailing this boat and learn the "ropes" of sailing or just sit back and enjoy the amazing experience. We'll sail by Ten Pound Island, Niles Beach, the Dog Bar, and much more... We can also anchor and swim for a little while! Light refreshments and snacks will be offered. Longer charters and overnight experiences in Gloucester and other ports can be arranged. Other things to note If the weather and sea conditions do not allow for a comfortable sail we will reschedule for a different time. Each booking reserves a trip for up to 6 people.

  • Explore Salem's Witch Hysteria & More
Salem is a beautiful, historic city best known for its tragic 'Witch' Trials. Our walk and talk will provide an overview of our history, from our founding in 1626 to the Witch Hysteria of 1692, to the current day, with some sites from Hocus Pocus tossed in. The tour length is 2 hours depending on the interaction and the pace of the group, and we'll cover about 2 1/2 miles. As a resident, I can share a local perspective to help bring Salem alive for you and help with any tips that may make your visit more enjoyable. Our tour is historical, but I will sprinkle in a few legends and hauntings along the way. If the dates/times of the tour posted do not work for you, drop me a note and I will try to accommodate your travel plans. Just for fun, tours offered at night will include some 'ghosty' kind of stuff as well. I realize not every guest has the mobility for a tour this long with no seating options. If you'd prefer a shorter tour with less walking, let me know and I'll try to make it work.

  • Coastal walking tour
I offer walking tours of coastal, scenic natural beauty. You will discover conservation land, local beaches, charming coves, islands, hidden lanes, ponds, spectacular harbor views, charming architecture and a colonial burying ground. Focus is on the scenery and coastline, but history and local folklore are inevitable in any walk around Marblehead. We will concentrate on the very oldest part of the old fishing village, and walk on lanes, paths, and sand bars that you'll only find with a local guide. Other things to note This is a walking tour of approximately 2 miles or 1.5 hours. Can be modified according to guests' needs and preferences. There are limited bathroom facilities, hills, sandy and rocky terrain.

  • Literary Marblehead Walking Tour
The Literary Marblehead walking tour is a meander along the lanes, coves, beaches, and islands of the old fishing village. The walk will include storytelling, history, traditions, and beautiful scenery. You will be introduced to two fictional characters, Hesper Honeywood from the historical romance The Hearth and Eagle by Anja Seton, and Azor Orne from the Azor books by Maude Crowley. You will see the old town through their eyes and walk through the scenes of their stories. The tour includes the tale of rowing an escaped slave to safety via the Underground Railroad,. Other things to note This is walk of about 2 miles, over uneven terrain, old streets, rocks, and sand. It is not at all strenuous, but guests should be prepared with appropriate shoes. Allow enough time to park your car.
