It was an easy walk to bars, restaurants and supermarkets from the accommodation. There is a tram stop approximately 200 metres walk from the back of the place that takes you right into the centre of the city / beach. Lee was a great host.

The Civic Theatre is a 10 min walk away. Hop on the light rail and check out Beaumont St, Hamilton. Take a day trip by car to the wineries 60 min, Nelson Bay 45 mins or Barrington Tops.
    This 1 bedroom unit is almost brand new throughout with private entrance and fully functional new kitchen, soft carpet, plantation shutters, TV with Netflix, WIFI, Bluetooth speakers to stream music from a device, new furniture, washing machine to name a few things. This unique space is completely not shared with any other person/persons. Self cater or dine out. A short walk to plenty of food choices a selection of supermarkets and a number of beaches. If The Supercars are your thing it's a 25 minute walk to the track and 4 blocks from Sports Ground No.2 where the concert is held.

  • Thank you Scott and Stacey for letting me stay in your apartment. It was in a wonderful location and I enjoyed going for a run along the riverfront in the mornings and afternoons. Scott and Stacey were communicative and prompt, especially with the check-in. The wifi and air-con worked well. I enjoyed watching the sunset from the balcony. The provision of some additional 'traveller's amenities' such as tissues and coffee would make this place feel more like home. (Three sachets of instant cappuccino mix were left in one of the tins, but it would have been nice to have access to additional coffee). I didn't mind that the dishwasher wasn't working (Scott and Stacey advised me of this before check in) but the scourer for cleaning mugs was old and smelly. I couldn't find the rubbish bin and so had to improvise with a bucket. Overall I felt that there was some disparity between the quality and price; I would have appreciated a higher level of cleanliness and attention to detail considering the amount I paid.

Just a note for light sleepers, don’t choose the front bedroom as the pub opposite the house is noisy but it seemed to shut by 11pm and then it all went quiet. The house itself was lovely and clean, with lots of nice touches - kitchen essentials, washing powder, guest soaps, all which made our stay easy. Highly recommended! On street parking was pretty easy most of the time, there was usually a park out the front.

Had a really great trip to Newcastle and would highly recommend The Bungalow to anybody looking for a quiet, stylish, great value place to stay in a fantastic location. The Bungalow is in the back corner of the garden. It is a little closer to the house than I’d expected but it’s private and has all the amenities (and more) you’d expect in a high quality hotel. The bathroom has a shower over spa bath which is great, however it requires a significant step to get in which might not be ideal for those with limited mobility.
    Short walk to Darby St cafe hub, bars/nightlife, and only a little further to our world class beaches. A ten minute walk will find you scoping views from the famous ANZAC Walk. This is a high density living area, as with any city, there is a possibility of some noise.

    This is a beautiful little self contained bungalow located at the back of my house. You will have everything you need for a comfortable and unique stay in this (very!) light-filled space. All the windows are leadlight and the soaring window at the front (from a 100 year old church in the Hunter Valley) adds to the distinctive charm. You will have your own access. You can park in the driveway or on the street (unrestricted on weekends and after hours. Otherwise its a 2hr limit)
    You are welcome to use anything in the fridge and pantry, and there will be an abundance of breakfast provisions. I’m sure you will be tempted by the glorious cooking smells which waft in from Darby st every afternoon though!
    Cooks Hill is a heritage listed suburb with a very interesting history so even if you don't venture further afield, the streets in this neighborhood are very picturesque. Darby street (the next street over) is the most popular cafe district in Newcastle and there are plenty of beautiful clothes and gift shops as well. We are also lucky to be surrounded by art galleries. The Newcastle Art Gallery is right at the end of this street and there are other private galleries right in this area. If you do feel like walking or riding a bike (there are lots of bike hire places, or you can borrow mine), there are a lot of great areas to explore. Bar Beach is only a 15 minute walk away and is a beautiful example of the amazing beaches we have here. Beach towels, beach umbrellas and sunscreen are all provided. If you go there at lunch time Swell kiosk makes great food. You can walk up the hill from Bar Beach to historic King Edward Park and while you're there have a dip in the Bogie Hole. In the other direction is the (working) harbor where you can sit and watch the ships coming in. If you feel like a walk from there, you can walk right along to the lighthouse, and out along the breakwall. If it's the right time of year you may spot some whales, otherwise there are often dolphins in the harbor. There are heaps of cafes, bars and restaurants in that area so it is certainly a great place to be at night-time as well. For things you might need, there is a corner shop just around the corner, and Aldi supermarket is a 5min walk. There is also a chemist on Darby street. There is a big shopping centre (Market-town) about a 15min walk away where you will find two supermarkets, medical centre, chemists, bottle shops, and loads of other shops.
  • The unit was very cute and the interior was beautifully renovated and kept very clean and tidy. The amenities were great; with a tea chest, herbs & spices and all condiments. Everything (even the light switches) were labeled, which was extremely handy! The location was incredible, with everything in very close proximity. The only thing I would want if we stayed again would be blinds on all windows and especially in the front as the main house is quite close to the unit and even with the outdoor blinds on the verandah it didn’t feel as “private” as I would have liked.

  • This place is a real gem! Isabel is a lovely person and you can see this in all the little details she thinks about for her guests. The pictures are great but they don't do the place justice. It's even better than it looks in the photos! I loved the staircase, the lighting, and the artistic details about the place. The bed is very comfortable but the bedroom is hot with only one window for airflow so be prepared to be hot in the loft space of the place where the heat rises. There is air conditioning but it tends to cool the ground floor primarily and I wanted to use it only sparingly anyway. This place has all of the laundry and kitchen facilities anyone could ever need and it's got a very comfortable tv set-up for those rainy nights when you've chosen to stay in. As many others have commented, Isabel is a great host who leaves fresh eggs, milk, yoghurt and fruit for her guest upon arrival. I highly recommend a stay at the Little House on Dawson!

  • Kevin is great, super informative and friendly, organised and replied to all my questions. - secure parking and getting into the place is without hassle. - location is awesome walking to any major places including honey suckle, all restaurants on Darby and the beach isn't a long drive. - place is clean and had everything you need, the only thing I would have liked to see was wi-fi included in the cost of the stay. - has an awesome balcony with BBQ and couches which is really relaxing. - I would definitely recommend staying here, as I will when I return to newcastle on future trips.

    3 bedroom Cute Guesthouse all with queen beds, 1 little cute bathroom, this property is perfectly located just steps to Newcastle interchange train station- 2min walk to Marina&Harbour, short walk to honeysuckle precinct, perfect for bike rides with bars and restaurants. 5-10min drive away from beaches 5min Note the house doesn’t have full kitchen, it has a small kitchenette containing microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, plates, etc. The house is divided, guests have independent front entry.
    The space consists of 3 bedrooms all with queen beds, 1 small bathroom. There is lounge / dining room that contains air conditioning, gas heater, fridge, microwave, toaster, tea and coffee, there are no extra cooking facilities. Please note the back of the house might be occupied as well with other guest but the front area offered is separated and private with its only independent access.
    The neighbourhood consists within close proximity of the Newcastle Interchange which is the main transport hub of Newcastle. The area also consists of residential apartments, hotels and businesses. The Newcastle Marina and harbour is located a short stroll across the road, with a great walk or bike ride along the harbours edge leading to restaurants, cafes and the beach.

    Stylishly furnished, massive kitchen, awesome bath tub and super comfortable beds. The house Close to beach, Museum, University, cafes, wine bars, Civic Theatre, Entertainment Centre. Perfect house to kick back after a day at the beach or the vineyards on our back deck with a large decked BBQ area.
    This is a hipster area surrounded by street art, cafes and great wine bars.

  • We absolutely LOVED our stay in Newcastle - and this house and Nikki were a wonderful part of it. The house is exactly as described as pictured but it’s even more! The location is brilliant- close enough to everything but tucked away to feel private as well. The space had everything we needed to relax and the mixed materials of the interior were so well put together. The outside spaces - both the front balcony to watch the train go by and the spaciousness of the back patio area were such a delight. As a host, Nikki was easy to communicate with and timely and she helped make our stay all that it could be- we really appreciate it! As we fell in love with Newcastle, we would love to stay here on our next visit!
