The Summerhouse is a detached stone cottage, situated in a stunning hillside location, set within it's own large private garden. Wooden french doors and sliding sash windows overlook the beautiful cotswold valley. There is a beautiful double bedroom with it's own balcony , an openplan lounge and kitchen diner with woodburner. It is positioned down a small quiet rural country lane with wonderful walks and a country pub on your doorstep.
“The Summerhouse is a stunning place for a calm, relaxing break. We stayed for two nights and felt so at home, and wished we were staying longer. The place was immaculate on arrival and we loved that the guestbook had great advice on things to do/places to eat, and also the board games in the property too. On Jen's advice we went to Cirencester on our first day - really beautiful town - and had a delicious lunch at The Fleece Inn. We also had a great meal at The Lamb Inn nearby to the Summerhouse, and enjoyed a walk at Haresfield Beacon. We loved the stay and would definitely visit again.”
Snug, compact and bijou, Cherub Cottage, completely refurbished in 2018, is situated in the heart of the beautiful Cotswold village of Chalford Hill and is the perfect couples getaway. With a comfortable lounge and well equipped kitchen downstairs, luxurious bedroom and en suite shower room upstairs and suntrap terrace for morning coffee it is ideal for 2 but can take 4 at a squeeze. Nick, your host lives 2 minutes walk away, and is happy to recommend things to do and see.
“Really cosy cottage, within walking distance to a few pubs and a short drive into Stroud. Highly recommend the food at the kings head! There was locally sourced milk and butter when we arrived, as well as amazing homemade bread - really nice touch. The cottage has two TVs, a puzzle (which came in handy one rainy afternoon) and well stocked kitchen cooking utensils etc. The shower is also amazing! Really great cottage.”
Hope Cottage is cosy, quirky and full of character (lots of exposed stone walls and original beams, plus a woodburner) but with all mod cons. It sits in its own terrace/garden in this pretty South Cotswolds village. There are wonderful views, and it's the perfect place to relax and get away from it all. A true home from home, with privacy and seclusion (no owners on site), a great local pub and walks in all directions.
“I wanted to experience the English countryside, and this was a lovely choice. I love that the cottage was built in the 1750's, and Sarah has done an amazing job maintaining the original elements of the home, while implementing modern touches. You basically have the charm and romance of the historic aspects of the house, while still having modern comforts. Sarah is soooo sweet and welcoming; tea, milk and cookies in the cupboard on arrival. I will forever think of her as the "Guest-whisperer" host because every question you could imagine, is in a notebook in the house. I felt like Ben Stiller in Night at the Museum with his instruction-letter; the minute I had a question, it was the next paragraph in the book. Brilliant! The only thing I was really vying for, was a dish rack, but everything else was quite comfortable. I know I saw that someone else had mentioned a shortage on mugs- there are plenty now! We really had everything we needed for the week. The bed is quite firm, but if you prefer a softer bed, the single in the upstairs loft is heavenly. We loooooved the views- loved working from the picture window, overlooking the same views they had 100's of years ago. Magic. The drive: Sarah provided excellent, very detailed directions via AirBnb message. Coming back from the grocery store, I couldn't get the AirBnb app to load and had to use GPS- omg the narrow paths GPS has you take is crazy! By all means, snap a pic of her directions and keep them on your phone in case you can't access the app- do NOT use GPS or you'll find yourself with 2 inches of space on either side of your car between those beautiful old stone walls. There is a lovely little fire stove- if you bring wood with you, make sure it's tiny. Sarah is kind enough to leave you a day or two worth to get you started and she will bring you more for $5 (I recommend this, so you know you have the right size.) We did see a few "rolley pollies" (as kids call them in the US) in the house- my son loved this and they didn't bother me, but do know you might have these little roommates :) All in all, this was a lovely experience. My son was in heaven with the loft area, and the garden. There are lovely walking paths throughout the village hillside, between the houses etc. The location was surprisingly great as well- easy drive or walk to anything we needed or wanted to see. Thank you Sarah!”
