“Our stay at Sherika’s villa was outstanding. It is of a high standard - nicely furnished and equipped with all modern appliances and conveniences. We were able to experience island life in a way you simply cannot in a hotel, and have a truly relaxed holiday. Built by her family, it is adjacent to a small cluster of four villas set back from the road, directly on a lovely small beach - which we had to ourselves for the duration of the trip. The house has a nice veranda facing the sea and a propane BBQ for grilling. It was wonderful to wake up to the sea outside our window every morning. She supplies kayaks, floaties, snorkel gear and beach loungers. There’s a boat slip, and you can even rent your own boat to explore. Occasionally people come and go from the mooring - all exceedingly friendly. There’s also a nice walk from the house along the beach, by an aquarium with lobster, grouper and tropical fish, with a hike up to an historic settlement on Crab Cay. We did not rent a car - waited too late and they were all gone - but, it didn’t matter much. We walked into town on the first day to go to Exuma market, and the shop called a taxi home for us with our groceries. It was easy to call a taxi to Georgetown or other spots, and although we missed seeing Little Exuma and Tropic of Cancer beach, we got to see much of the island by booking a tour with Exuma Water Sports - the van pick up was a drive from Georgetown up to Barretarre, where the tour departed from. Not having a car allowed us to enjoy “villa life” on our private beach...hanging out in the gorgeous, calm water and we were the only people in sea. Incredible! The Exuma Water Sports experience was really super, we did the 1/2 day afternoon trip and booked online - swam with and fed pigs, petted sting rays, snorkeled at a few spots including a blue hole, visited remote islands with stunning beaches, and saw/feed the iguanas. We also lunched at Rusty Anchor at February Point - beautiful spot, had a drink at Choppy’s on the water, visited the straw market and hung out at the fish fry. We spent evenings in cooking dinner and watching Netflix - this is really not a “nightlife” island in our experience - even NYE was quiet. So, Sherika’s place is a comfortable and wonderful place to hang out and get your relax on. We loved it. Five stars!”
This quaint little apartment is situated in a great location on the island of Great Exuma. You are only a 10 minute drive from the airport (code: GGT), about 5 minutes from Georgetown, walking distance to beautiful beaches, a food & liquor store, and hotel row with multiple restaurants and bars. Great Exuma has all kinds of things to do. The best ones involve the ocean, beaches, boating, relaxing and letting the fact that you're on a tiny island in the Caribbean wash over and revive you!
“Had an AMAZING time. Definitely will return. Great clean, cozy place to stay - kitchen, washer/dryer (even supplied the laundry soap). Location is good - about middle of island. Very safe and quiet. We chose not to rent a car - a little too scary for us. We were able to walk to a few places. Great beach down the street -had it to myself the entire time and then Jolly Hall Beach about a 10 minute walk. Tamara and Dallas were very quick to respond to any questions. Very helpful. Unfortunately, they were out of town and I didn't get to meet them but still super responsive to any questions. Checking in and out -- super easy. Information that could have been very helpful upon arrival -- Extremely important questions to ask in the future: 1. The credit card machines were down on the island and had been down for almost a month or so. We ran tight near the end with our cash and it stopped us from doing some things. (Yes there are ATMs, but we did not want to pay fees.) 2. It was a huge holiday weekend. Everything was closed Friday AND Monday (as well as the usual Sunday). 3. The pool was nasty and unusable. Very upsetting --that is one of the main reasons I booked with this place, to have the use of a pool. Had I known, would have chosen another place with a pool. Other than that, great place. 4. As mentioned, they were on vacation and we were not able to use their excursion company which we had planned to do some things while there. There were others, but we had a hard time finding kayaking near us. We became friends with the one resort and they gave us permission to use their kayaks.”
Our newly renovated 1 bedroom apartment is on the second floor with an outside stairwell. This is the upstairs left apartment. Our place has all the comforts of home and is ideally located just 10 minutes from Exuma's airport, and 5 minutes from most of George Town's nightlife and activities. We're a 6.5 minute walk to Jolly Hall Beach, about a 20 minutes to the Turtle Beach in Hoopers Bay, and there's a little beach less than 5 minutes walk from us that is so unused, it doesn't have a name!
“Jamie and Rebecca were BY FAR the BEST hosts we have ever had! Not only was the place fantastic, but Jamie was incredibly responsive to all questions. He gave great suggestions on things to do, places to eat, things to see, and even helped us arrange a taxi at the airport and make local phone calls with the rental car place. The beach is also SO CLOSE and pretty much private! We also had a fantastic time on our Exuma Water Sports half day tour and would highly recommend their place to anyone!”
