“Absolutely loved this place, tucked away in a beautiful location, nice and quiet. Julie was a lovely host and accommodating. The place itself is beautiful, great facilities including a dish washer, everywhere was clean and spacious, the log burner was a fantastic addition and really made it for us. Exactly 1 mile into the nearby village of Chudleigh, we cooked a meal one night which was made easier for to Julie providing great utensils and some food basics, that said you can also get a lovely Chinese delivered from the takeaway in the village! I wouldn’t hesitate to book again if we needed to be anywhere close to this location, thanks.”
Set in an idyllic three acres of rolling countryside near Dawlish, Leat Cottage is the perfect place to relax and unwind, a great base from which to explore the south west or an inspiring retreat to write or paint. A warm welcome awaits you to a cosy cottage set in stunning rural surroundings and only a 45 minute walk or 5-10 minute drive to Dawlish, 15-20 minute drive to Teignmouth or 25 minute drive to Exeter. There's plenty to do and see in the area, look at our airbnb guidebook for info.
“The cottage was exactly as described and completely clean. Sue left a couple of scones, cream, home made jam and a pint of milk. Very helpful. I went for a quiet week and it suited me perfectly. There is very little noise, just the owls at night and the occcasional car. The cottage was warm in a cold November, but the conservatory did get a little cool in the evenings. Also the rain on the plastic conservatory roof can be loud. But close the sliding door into the bedroom and all is quiet. Dawlish is a pleasant town with interesting independent shops. You can walk on the wall between the railway and the sea north to Dawlish Warren and the walk to Teignmouth is also interesting, partly on roads and partly on the sea wall.”
PLEASE NOTE WE ARE IN A RURAL Area (and access is down NARROW LANES ,The Granary is an self contained apartment above an old barn which has been lovingly renovated to a high standard , it is a romantic county side escape perfect for a couple to relax and enjoy the beautiful Devon countryside as this is in a working farm you may experience some noise tractors ,cocks crowing ,geese ,some farm machinery repairs in the day, sheep, cows, dogs.and low flying helicopters ,and the odd military jet .
“The Granary is a wonderful homely self contained place to stay. It has a great little kitchen area and comfortable living space. I slept well in the cosy, restful bedroom. There was a great selection of breakfast foods including cereal, bacon, tomatoes, milk, lots of fresh eggs (laid by Linda and Tim’s chickens) and bread. I couldn’t have met two more kind, lovely people, and their friends and neighbours, who have helped me, following get my car stuck down a lane!. I am very grateful for the generosity and kindness I have been shown this week. It is a fab place to spend time away from the hubbub of daily living (the phone signal and WiFi isn’t too great) and take a proper break. Rest and enjoy the beautiful country side. Thank you Tim, Linda and your your wonderful neighbours.”
