“We arrived at the apartment around 10PM after doing Shimanami Kaido in a day. Even in the dark, it was easy to find thanks to Michiko-san messages and pictures, so we immediately recognized the place. It was a pleasant surprise to find the place already warmed up for our arrival ! Michiko-san welcomed us even though we arrived pretty late, and he even offered us some みかん. Everything was perfectly clean. And we spend a really good night there.”
Omishima Space is an ideal place to relax and unwind on the islands of the Setouchi Inland Sea after a day of cycling and travelling. Omishima is located right in the middle of the Shimanami Kaido cycling trial between Onomichi on Honshu Island and Imabari on the Shikoku Island which is named Shimanami Kaido.
“It was a very beautiful facility. I came with 5 adults and 4 children from 0 to 5 years old, but it was very helpful because there were cutlery and auxiliary toilet seat for children. It was only one night, but wanted to stay consecutively.”
[Special event on July 3-6! If you love traditional fermented food, let's make MISO with island grandmas. Capacity is only 2. Ask us!] Sashima is the most relaxing island around Shimanami kaido. “Mie and Keiko are two of the kindest and most heartwarming people there are. From the moment we entered this beautiful home, we felt truly welcome. The level of hospitality we received during our entire stay was indescribable. It only took us two nights on that small island to fall in love with the people, the food, the culture and the nature. This stay was the highlight of our two weeks trip through Japan and was the first time on our trip were we felt like getting to know locals from a very personal side. Mie and Keiko are incredible hosts and make the stay an unforgettable one. We left this island with so much positive energy and can't wait to come back! The house is very cozy, has only a few rooms and easy to find by bike. As a surprise factor it also offers guests the opportunity to enjoy a traditional bath. We miss this oasis of beauty already and recommend this hidden gem to anyone.”
