“Minos apartment is great. It’s a good size and has everything you need. It was comfortable and clean, and the location is great for getting to different parts of West Crete (by car). In kandanos there are two good taverns just down the road as well as a really good coffee place and some supermarkets. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend Minos’ place.”

“What a little paradise! Peaceful location, looking out over the valley. Large terraces covered with grape vines, hammok and lots of comfy seating where we enjoyed sunsets, sunrises and starlit skies. Only sounds were goat bells, birds, bees and the purring of a friendly family of cats. Beatiful home that combines traditional style with modern amenities: large hot shower, good gas stove, lots of space with many comfy sofas as well as wood burning stove which we enjoyed in the autumn evenings (and cooked chestnuts on from up the road), a traditional wood fired bread oven outside and a cold outdoor shower to cool off on hot days. You could spend hours noticing all the beautiful, artistic touches: lovely olive wood lamps, colourful woven rugs, driftwood art, painted pebbles, etc. It really is a home away from home. Antonis met us at the house and was very welcoming and incredibly generous, leaving a supply of local food. The kitchen is well stocked with jars of local herbs and olives, and we made good use of the orange juicer :) Just 20 mins drive to the local town of Palaiochora with good supermarkets, restaurants and some lovely beaches. We did part of the long distance E4 coastal walk from there and got the bus and ferry to the Samaria Gorge.”

“Our stay at Zoi’s place in Kandanos was our first AirB&B experience and I think we will be forever spoiled. Despina and her family made us feel welcome at every opportunity. When we arrived she had left us a large basket of produce from the family farm (olive oil, raki, jams, honey, wild flower teas, mountain herbs, salted olives.......) and later on she brought us a huge dish of fresh homemade Tzatziki. The house is secluded, nestled into the side of a hill overlooking Kandanos and the valley’s olive groves. It has been thoughtfully decorated and laid out. It’s clear a lot of effort has gone into making you feel at home and that was exactly how we felt. The house caters for families exceptionally well down to the smallest details such as a selection of Tupperware containers for family picnics and wrapped towels on the beds. We had breakfasts on the shaded balcony and in the evening ate watching the sunsets over the valley and the village on Kandanos just within ear shot of the church bells. The local area also has heaps of great places to eat. Our favourite was the ‘Mesostrato’ restaurant. When we arrived in Kandanos we stopped for a bite, had a chat with the owner and afterwards she gave us a motorbike escort to Zoi’s place. That’s the feeling of the whole village. Just super friendly. There are sandy beaches, 14C churches, walks in gorges and more all within 30 minutes. You won’t be stuck to find things to do. We stayed a week and could have stayed a lot longer. Despina runs a roadside shop selling some of the farm’s produce. We loved each one we tried and we bought some as presents. It’s well worth visiting. This is certainly somewhere we would like to come back to.”
