“We were Jamie and Lisa's first Air BnB customers and our first time using Air BnB. We booked last minute and didn't know what to expect. But from the pictures it looked amazing. And when we got there it was so much better! We were greeted on arrival and the host were so welcoming and nothing was a problem. They invited us into their little slice of heaven with open arms! Gave us a little tour and made sure we were settled. The Nest was absolutely beautiful and finished to such a high standard. It was immaculate, I mean absolutely spotless! Super cosy! We had homegrown fresh eggs and homemade gin in a little basket which we absolutely loved, I couldn't even begin to tell you all the things we loved about the room there wouldn't be enough space here to write it! Then there was the pool. It was so private! There is a pool house with a BBQ so you can cook up a storm while enjoying the heated pool and lying in the sun! The open firepit was also amazing! Overlooking the sea, with a glass of wine, it really was one of the most beautiful evening experiences I've ever had. There is a lovely local pub up the road, The Hood Arms and we went as recommended by the host and it too was incredible. Tea room just down the road was also a highlight. The coastal walk was also amazing! What a beautiful part of the world. This place is so private and so quiet, it felt like a privilege to be allowed into their world. If your looking to get away from the rat race like we did I cannot recommend this place enough. We will be going back no doubt for years to come. Jamie and Lisa thank you so much you beautiful people!”
Groom’s Cottage is tucked into the folds of the Quantock Hills and close to the fossil-rich beach in Kilve. Perfect for walking, horse riding and mountain biking, it’s only a short walk along our no-through lane and on to the hills (and Coleridge Way) and half a mile to the village shop and superb gastro pub. The cottage sleeps 4 in 2 double rooms, has bath and shower and open-plan downstairs. It forms the west wing of our farmhouse whose grounds (loungers and barbecue) you are welcome to enjoy.
“I was looking for somewhere quiet to get away for my birthday weekend about an hour drive from Bristol and decided to look on Airbnb. Privacy, along with a safe and fun environment for my 7-year-old son was also a key factor. I have been to Kilve a few times over the years and knew the beach was great for fossil hunting but hadn’t walked in the Quantocks for years. I came across Groom’s Cottage and what struck me, alongside the look of the place, were the reviews and particularly the tone. The descriptions sold it to me, and we weren’t disappointed. Mark was there to meet us and within minutes we were unpacked and relaxed. My son had already disappeared with the gorgeous Frankie, the most wonderful dog you could wish to meet, and Mark to see the horses. We had a lovely birthday meal and Frankie spent the evening and night with us! We don’t have a dog, but the sight of Alex cuddled up with her on the sofa was great. Saturday morning a relaxing late breakfast and Ann popped round to see us. We decided on a hike up onto the hills and we could take Frankie with us. We had a wonderful walk, through the mist and muddy hills, met the occasional walker on the way and 4 hours later returned tired but relaxed and ready for the evening meal. You feel like part of the family here and the wonderful sense of trust taking someone’s beloved pet out for the day is a great feeling. We love the natural world and all it has to offer, come rain or shine. Will we come back? Absolutely, and we can’t wait! Thanks so much to Mark, Ann and of course Frankie, Alex will miss you!”
Cosy well insulated log cabin with double glazed windows. Flatscreen tv with Netflix and amazon is provided and good speed Wi-fi . There is cooking facilities with microwave, toaster, egg poacher and a kettle with tea and coffee provided.
“I stayed in Joe and Shelley's cabin for 2 months while I was on a work placement in the area. They are two of the nicest hosts I could have asked for, so friendly and thoughtful and always ensured I had everything I needed. The cabin itself is beautiful, well-kept, clean and tidy, and exactly what I needed while I was staying in Somerset. It is entirely self-contained, with cooking facilities, a fridge, storage, WiFi/TV and comfortable beds. The bathroom, which is only a five second walk down the garden into the house, is lovely and clean and has a great shower. The outdoor seating area in the garden is perfect for warm days and gets a lot of sun. Highly recommended for people looking for a weekend away or in need of a long-term stay in the area. I have stayed in several Airbnbs and Joe and Shelley are the best hosts I have met.”
