“An opportunity not to be missed by anyone wanting to experience the jungle and seeing the wildlife in their natural environment. We were extremely fortunate to witness an orangutan right outside our room! Meals are excellent, and our hosts Gert and Jason (a superb chef) are excellent company and a wealth of local knowledge. The river cruise is a highlight of the experience and it is included in the price! Orangutans, proboscis monkeys by the dozen, macaque monkeys by the hundreds, leaf monkeys, crocodiles, lizards big enough to take a small monkey if it is slow enough, horn-bill birds, eagles, kingfishers and a wide range of butterflys were all seen on the river cruise. Be sure to take a decent camera as phone cameras just do not do them justice. The steps up to the lodge are not an obstacle as there are plenty of rest areas. The view from the top of the ridge where the lodge is built is reward for the effort. Rooms are spacious and surprisingly, can be chilly at night, even though you are deep within the jungle. Gert even has a decent red wine if you want!!!!!! To top it all off there are only 4 rooms so the numbers present are always low (we only had 1 other couple for the 3 nights we were there). You get personal attention and plenty of private space if you wish.”

“This is way more than just an average AirBnb. My stay at this lodge was an absolutely exceptional experience. The staff is fantastic and made me feel like the number one priority at all times. The cabins are extremely clean and comfortable. They are situated directly next to the jungle so you feel truly immersed in the beautiful nature that Borneo is so famous for. Jazli was exceedingly hospitable and also very helpful with planning my itinerary for my time in Bilit. He set me up with an amazing local nature guide that took me on a river safari as well as a beautiful hike to the top of Bilit hill, both activities that I would highly recommend to future travelers. The food at the lodge restaurant is also very tasty. Overall, I was very impressed by my experience at Jazli’s place.”
We run this village view stay as a personal business, but it also benefits the community thanks to our different activities (river cruise, guided trekking, etc.). We offer you an experience of cultural heritage and wildlife as well as participation in conservation activities, such as jungle trekking and seedlings seeking, planting and maintenance. Our place is home to 10 species of primates such as as orangutans, 8 species of hornbills, Pygmy Elephants, reptiles and many more.
“The Sukau village is a one of its kind experience. You not only get to stay in a village right next to the Kinabatangan river (house is just 5 mins from the river) but also get to experience the local culture and food living with the indigenous people of Sukau. Mr Bam and his whole family are a wonderful host. You'll get to learn the local games, handicraft, dance, get to taste the delicious local cuisine and of course also get to do all the wild life spotting from this place. You simply need to get in touch with the homestay and they'll make you a tailor made itinerary just for you. We had the time of our lives. This stay made our trip really memorable. Thank you Mr Bam, Azhar and the whole family. We hope to see you soon! This place is value for money, perfect for local tips and they'll win your heart with their honest hospitality!”
