Villa was build 1999-2000 as a second home from the family with basic facilities criteria for everyday living. Basic principle was to have a place to calm down but also a house for remote work in home village. Place is pretty nice on top of the hill, scenery is wide almost all over ... tens of kilometers. Style is rustic with a light twist of retro functionalism. Now we have moved 200m, on the opposite side of the road, and we offer Villa for our quest. Your sincerely Leena & Juha
“Our family really liked everything! There were five of us. Two adults and three children. Children of different ages: 18, 10 and 5 years old. And everyone is very happy. Very well located in the house, it was spacious enough for us there. The house has a fireplace, sauna. Panoramic windows. And nobody around! Peace and quiet. No wifi. In the yard there is a lot of space for games. The carriageway is far away. The house has everything you need. Very cozy! Joensuu is 20 km away. We planned to just spend the night, did not expect that it would be so good. Very good value for money. Thanks a lot to the owners!”
The cottage has a well equipped kitchen (an owen, a dishwasher, a microwave owen, a fridge and refridgerator ), washing machine four beds (an extra bed is available when asked) a sauna both inside the cottage as well as on the beach.
“We loved our 3 days here and could easily have stayed longer. The cabin is in a gorgeous location right on the lake. It is blissfully quiet and peaceful with only the sounds of water lapping and birch leaves tinkling in the breeze. The sauna and rowing on the lake were both wonderful experiences. The nearest town Kerimaki is a 20 minute drive and Savolinna is about 30 minutes. We found Savolinna rather disappointing (the castle is the only real attraction). It's better to spend your time at the cabin enjoying the serenity of the lake! It is very comfortably furnished as a family holiday home. There is nothing fancy but has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Thanks Severi!”
We have a unique boathouse cottage with a cozy open-plan bedroom, living room and kitchen with all modern equipment; dishwasher, oven, induction cooker etc. Bathroom has a washing machine, shower and water toilet. Balcony is on the water so you can see the fish swimming by. On the ground level there is a big living area with a view to the lake. Outside terrace has sofa and chairs, dining table, gas barbeque and a wood burning fire place. Nearby is a traditional Finnish wood burning sauna.
“Juha and Anna-Maija are great hosts! They welcomed us and really took their time to explain all the things to note about the cottage and how to use the sauna or heating if needed. Although we arrived on a rainy day, we were lucky to have very sunny and warm days for the rest of our stay. We used the rowing boat to explore the lake -note it is full of fish, big and small and we enjoyed being lucky enough to catch so much. The cottage was extremely clean and exactly as advertised in the pictures. It had everything we needed, from stove, oven, microwave, fridge, water boiler coffee maker, to actual coffee for us to use. We particularly enjoyed having breakfast on the little balcony with a lake view (the water was so clear that we could see the fish swimming) and soaking up the morning sun with a cup of coffee. The bed was very comfortable and we rested so well, which was exactly what we came for. There is both a gas and a wood grill that you can use outside for bbq-ing. We also enjoyed the wood sauna and dipping in the warm lake (around 22 degrees C). Just a little heads-up for the ones that plan to rely on the internet connection for work, for example, the internet is available from a mobile wifi router. The signal fluctuates quite a bit and the connection is not up 100% of the time. We also used our phones as hot spots, so had no problem with this. We even got 4G connection with the phone on the small table on the balcony. The cottage was unique, full of historical elements and the vineyard is an added bonus. We hope we will return again for a longer stay. Thank you again, Juha and Anna-Maija, for hosting us!”
