Wheatlands is a magical place! Experience the comfort and luxury of Wheatlands Country House which sleeps 10 guests in 5 spacious bedrooms. Built in 1912 this historic home boasts high, pressed ceilings, wood panelled walls, beautiful handcrafted stained glass windows, book lined corridors and antiques that have been collected through generations. We are a working wool and mohair producing Karoo farm in the heart of the Eastern Cape, situated 50 km south of the attractive town of Graaff-Reinet.

An outdoor kitchen area is surrounded by lush greenery and rustic wooden furniture. A wooden structure provides shade, while a vibrant assortment of succulents adds color to the scene. Pathways made of brick weave through the landscaped space, promoting a sense of tranquility.

An arid area riddled with Karoo goodness, silence, stars, sheep, goats & all sorts of critters....an area loved by many. PLEASE bare in mind the water restrictions within the area & that electrical outages affects the access to water too.

Bring the whole family to this great place with lots of room for fun. Activities include a 4x4 route and the Baviaanskloof's most beautiful hiking trail. We also have a campsite with a big dam for swimming in summer. You can see what happens on a working farm in the Baviaanskloof. We farm with Anghora goats; Cattle and Bees so there is always lots of activity on the farm. Or you can just relax and enjoy the mountains, the peace and quiet and the stars at night.

There are 4 bedrooms, and two bathrooms, both with baths and one with a shower, in addition to the private outside shower. A spacious lounge with a comforting fire place and a beautiful wraparound veranda make you feel comfortable and at home. The farm is not on the main electricity grid nor is there any cell phone reception. Paraffin lamps are supplied in all rooms. The kitchen is well equipped and gas appliances are provided.
