“White Tern Maldives review with host Haleem (Mode): White Tern Maldives is a beautiful guest house and Haleem and his wife are extremely friendly, attentive and able hosts. White Tern Maldives is a beautiful Guest House is on a small inhabited island called Dhidhdhoo with less than 200 friendly residents and a tropical jungle not far from an island resort called Lux Maldives (in South Ari Atoll “Alifu Atoll” -- not to be confused with another island by the same name Dhidhdhoo in North Thaladhunmathee Atoll “Haa-Alifu Atoll in the northern part of the Maldives). White Tern Maldives Guest house is located on the channel where powerful currents carry plankton out of the atoll during the northeastern monsoon where manta rays and whale sharks feed. Haleem arranged transport for us via speedboat from Malé to Dhidhdhoo. As most things are closed on Fridays in this Muslim country, Haleem arranged for a domestic flight to return back to Male on our Friday departure from a nearby island. The guest rooms are very clean and well appointed with very good AC and wifi and very large clean bathrooms. Towels are provided for use in the rooms and separate towels for the beach. The “house reef” is beautiful and home to whale sharks and bioluminescent plankton. We went on snorkeling excursions almost daily and saw many beautiful corals, whale sharks, white tip reef sharks, sea turtles, stingrays and many tropical fish. The giant manta rays are known to be there also, but we did not have the opportunity to see them (such is the luck of the draw with nature). Dhidhdhoo is a beautiful Island. The local beach is just a few minutes walk from the guesthouse. At night you can see the bioluminescent plankton in the water - what a dream!!! The people who live on this island are very friendly. One gentleman invited us over for coffee. Another family invited us to have a bbq on the beach with them. One family shared a dessert with us under the shade of a tree. 1 particular excursion we enjoyed a lot was a day trip to an isolated sandbank island. What a beautiful way to spend a day! One of the highlights of our stay was the food! We tasted some of the most delicious Maldivian dishes during our stay! I cannot speak enough as to what gracious, attentive, and knowledgeable hosts Haleem and his wife are and hope that you will stay with them; I highly recommend staying with them and plan to do so again in the future. This was truly one of the best vacations of my life.”
Dhigurah is one of the most beautiful and unique local islands of Maldives. This area is considered as one of the best diving locations in Maldives (around 30 dive points). The most famous nearby dive sites are Kuda Rah Thila, Manta Point and Maamigili and Dhigurah Beyru. There you can see huge 10meters-long whalesharks, sea turtles and majestic manta rays – even by just snorkelling at the sea surface.
“If you book here, you will not only get what you see, but also the service to organize the transfer to the island and back again for you. Also the hospitality of the whole family of Ahmed. We would even be picked up from the jetty and welcomed with a welcome drink. We were five nights on site and can highly recommend the tours, as they are super fair prices. Could have exchanged us with another couple on the island who paid much more and the same for the transfer. Here the host puts no extra money in the bag. Of the five nights it has stretched down my partner after two days with fever at the end of the vacation, maybe through the air conditioning. From then on, we only used the ceiling fan on the lowest level. Especially in such a case, you are quickly helpless, whom you might not have packed the right medication. Here we were also very well looked after, they even helped me to the pharmacy and daily inquired about the state of health. We recommend the Café Dune on the island, which had the best and tastiest food for us and the soups on the list have definitely contributed to the recovery. The café is also part of the accommodation eye or share it probably three owners, fair prices, super friendly team (Muhi & Imraan have our holiday enriched additionally) and local dishes. Greetings to Shaheen and his father who have accompanied our trip on the first ta :))).”

“Everything about our stay in Dhangethi was great, mostly thanks to Nadey. He also runs Dhangethi Water Sports so he’s the man to make your wish list a reality. We only had a couple of days there but as soon as we arrived he gave us a quick tour and asked what we wanted to do in our time. Within an hour of arriving we were snorkelling off the beach and saw reef sharks, stingray and loads of other fish. My missus wanted to see turtles so in the afternoon Nadey took us on a speedboat to a few places and saw the turtles at each spot, the third reef had everything. The second day we went diving with massive manta rays and did a wreck dive. We also had the option of whale sharks but we’d already seen them twice. Then before sunset we had a go at Stand Up Paddleboarding which was great. Nadey sorted everything for us, the snorkelling, diving and speedboat to Male. The diving was a lot cheaper than we paid in Dhigurah direct to the dive company and we didn’t waste any time finding places and prices. We can’t recommend staying with him enough. Even if you don’t, make sure you go and see him at DWS between the harbour and bikini beach. He’s got all sorts of stuff going on, windsurfing, wakeboarding, dohnuts, etc.”
