The house is fantastic, with plenty of space inside, as well as outside. Spectacular pool, my daughters loved it. Orchard with a variety of fruit trees, from which we can harvest and enjoy. Weekly bed linen and towel changes, with the kindness of Dona Cristina (the lady who takes care of the house) We'll definitely be back. Paulo Ferreira

The place has a very beautiful location with nice cultural landscape near a river. The house is architect-designed and with a unique expression. The hosts welcomed in a pleasant and efficient way. The home was homey! What can be improved is that some of the furniture in the house appears worn. You can also get an impression in the listing that there is one large pool. The pool is quite small and mostly for kids really. But all in all we are happy!

Beautiful location, private and serene, Maria Lurdes is a fantastic host. She took time to show us around and explain the local culture and towns. The house is beautiful with so much space for games, gym, office space, living area is spacious for large groups. The river is right in front with easy access. Will definitely go back again to enjoy the house and Maria’s great hospitality. Would easily give the place 6 STARS out of 5!!!!

We stayed at Casa Da Torre for 7 days and loved it. The place is spacious, private, and peaceful, with great views over the Douro River. It is a great base for exploring the Duoro River valley. Marta was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place.

Osvaldo, Madalena and Carla, 3 super friendly and helpful hosts who provided an amazing stay, always worried about collaborating so that nothing was missing. The space is very pleasant, consisting of rustic houses on a farm in the middle of nature in an environment of tranquility perfect for those who like to relax away from the confusion of big cities. a great breakfast, a wonderful pool with great views, a waterfront river, river paths along the river, good wines, etc... All perfect! A huge thank you Osvaldo, Madalena and Carla. Well done.

It is a very nice house, located in a peaceful environment. Gloria's welcome was very cordial and owners Ana and Victor were available to let us know what to do when we arrived in the evening. We came there 5 years ago and will be back if possible.

Everything impeccable, well situated, spacious and clean.

The stay at Abi and Regina's house was fantastic. The apartment has everything you need to spend a few days and we felt right at home. It is a beautiful and intimate house, ideal to rest and disconnect. The surroundings of the property are wonderful. As soon as we arrived, Regina gave us a tour to see the whole place and we were able to see her orchards and eat some tangerines that were very tasty. That night we attended a magic lantern show that Abi and Regina offered to some international students and the next day Abi himself gave us a tour of the museum they have on the property. Listening to Abi's explanations and taking a tour of her life and work and that of Regina was a privilege. Seeing so much passion in what they do has been a wonderful gift. We had a great time in this house, it really is a luxury to be able to live in such an inspiring and beautiful place. We are already looking forward to spending a few days here again!

Staff was wonderful, very helpful and responsive. We had a delightful wine tasting. They set up a taxi to take us to town and told us where to have dinner. The small village was extremely charming, we had a great dinner and our taxi driver was waiting to take us back after. The room and property were top notch. the only minor issue we had and it may be our fault, is we were further away from the Douro Valley than we thought. The directions were correct, but I missed my turn into the property, it isnt much of a road and it sneaks up on you. It would be challenging to find at night. But in the end, we were extremely pleased with our experience and very glad we stayed. We would wholeheartedly recommend it!!

This place is easily described in one word: Unique! Sleeping in a this renovated monastery was amazing! The view is just splendid, the swimming pool is perfect and the whole vibe: fantastic. The appartment's got everything you need. Well furnished, super clean, comfortable bedding. A great pace! In addition, you have a free and secure parking place, acces to the main building with a nice librairy, dinig room etc: lot of history in there! But don't get me wrong: your personnal space is all for you: living room, kitchen, bedroom: you have a complete appartment PLUS the old building with the libraoty etc.. ALso, Luis and is wife arfe amazing persons: always there for you and interested to help you. Luis also speaks french english and spanish! The premisses are just amazing with wine yards, places to relax, walking paths etc. DO not miss the amazing old chuch down the path AND make sure to visit the inside of the church gardens (door at the extreme right) Thanks to Luis and is wife for an amazing stay. Also, speacial thanks to the cleaning lady who is also a member of the tema and helped us when we arrived! We definitly recommend this place!

Lovely, confortable and relaxing space. I stayed at this place for more than 2 months and I couldn't find a better place. The house is lovely, built with stone and wood, which creates a fantastic combination. The garden is lovely, quite inspiring. The house is full equipped, with everything that is needed for you to feel at home. The host, Manuela, still added a few more itens for you to feel totally welcome and mantained a wonderful relationship through out the stay. Highly recommended!

To everyone who’s thinking of renting this house; if you’re having doubts, this is the sign to go for it. I’m speaking on behalf of my family and myself. We were a group of 8 who had the lovely opportunity to spend New Year’s Eve in this beautiful space. To start with, pictures don’t do justice to the gem you find when you pass through the entrance door. The house seems like it blends or comes out of the mountain itself. Maintaining original external features of what it seemed an old house that was carefully blended into the newer structure of the main house. When you enter you have the feeling of being at home and from any of the panoramic windows to the west side of the house you get the breathtaking views of the Douro river They’ve thought of all details and making it a perfectly functional house to not have to leave for as long as you plan to stay there. Having the breakfast service is also another extra service we were really happy to have thank you for the lovely experience.

We had a great stay at this apartment! It was clean, comfortable, and in a convenient location. The host was super nice and very helpful, making the experience even better. Highly recommend!

What an EXTRAORDINARY accommodation Casa Marmelo was for our group of 8 adults when visiting the Douro valley !!! Host Kate was super to work -- right from our initial contact for information through our date of departure. What an excellent WELCOME GUIDE she provided before our arrival - with valuable tips and suggestions for activities and dining throughout the area. Housekeeper Helene too could not have been more kind, charming, and helpful. What delicious breakfasts she made for us each morning. The entire property was kept so clean and tidy. What a memorable time we all had -- we all hope to be back!

We had a wonderful time in Portugal, and Antonio's place was a perfect base for our day trips. The house was lovely with lots of space and beautiful decor. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to cook in. The gardens had lots to explore, and fruit trees and a vegetable patch. Our children loved the house and we all had lots to do, including a playroom with loads of toys, dozens of boardgames, and just really nice spots to sit and read. Antonio was super friendly, very easily contactable, very quick to respond, and gave us lots of nice suggestions. We've had an amazing time at his amazing family home!

We had a pleasant stay in Manuel's house. We stayed 8 days with my family. My children being very young (1 year and 2 years), we enjoyed the house for a long time! It's suitable for children. Be careful with the pool around which there is no protection for the little ones. So you have to open your eyes. But other than that everything is fine. The view from the house is beautiful. Manuel is very responsive and flexible. A housekeeper visits almost daily to help us maintain the house. Thank you Manuel and maybe see you soon! Nicolas

A great place for a big family looking for peaceful surroundings and beautiful scenery. On rainy days the the ground floor with all the facilities were a great asset for the younger generation
