Meshaw is a pretty village well placed to explore Exmoor and North Devon coast. Nearby towns are South Molton, Barnstaple, Tiverton and Exeter. The well equipped, newly refurbished room is upstairs on the 1st floor. It has a king-size bed, microwave, toaster and kettle. A table-top fridge and ironing facilities are available. Car parking outside property. Reasonably priced but high quality accommodation. One min walk from The Cart Linhay - a neighbouring Airbnb.
“I apent two nights at Celia's home whilst travelling across country. It a characterful home in a very small village, next to the church in the heart of rural Devon. There is a convenient parking space in front of the house and the room contains a comfortable, large bed, combination micro-cooker, a selection of cereals, snacks, tea and coffee etc. A fridge for guests is located in an adjoining room. The bathroom is just across the landing from the bedroom. Celia is friendly and happy to chat, but the guest can also be completely independent to stay in or come and go as they please. Skye, the border collie, adapts to guests; there is also a cat, but I didn't see anything of her. An ideal place for peace and quiet, or a central location to explore much of Devon. Of interest to literary pilgrims is nearby North Tawton, home to Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes.”
Shepherd's View is situated in a quiet corner of the meadow behind our centuries old thatched farmhouse. We are based just outside South Molton in the beautiful North Devon countryside on the edge of Exmoor. The hut is totally off grid allowing you to get away from it all. There is a separate compost toilet and hot shower only a few steps away. We provide everything you need to make your own breakfast on the first morning, including fresh eggs and homemade bread.
“Ant and Penny were fabulous hosts! From the minute we arrived they made us feel at home and had looked after every detail. The shepherds hut sits atop a hill in the beautiful organic flower garden. The views are simply stunning, I’ve never seen anything quite like it! The hut itself is SO cosy and comfortable with a wood burner for chillier nights. Penny provided the most wonderful breakfast which which cooked on the gas stove in the morning. Tea and coffee etc was also provided for us to make for ourselves. Exmoor being a Dark Skies Reserves ensured we had an unrivalled view of the galaxy both nights we were there! Stargazing is our thing and it was spectacular! Penny showed us around her organic farm which was a lovely gesture. I could go on all day about how amazing this place is and how great our hosts were! I suggest you go see for yourselves..... 😊”
We are a family of 4 who have lived and worked (and continue) as aid workers around many emergencies in the world. We met in Somalia, had our children in Sudan, and took them with us to Sri Lanka for a year. We welcome you to our lovely peaceful farmhouse. Tea and coffee will be available in the annex for you and you may help yourself to breakfast including lovely organic eggs from our chickens and fresh milk straight from the neighbouring farm. In season we have lovely apples and pears too!
“We had a lovely time staying at the annex. Alistair was a great host, and the annex itself is super private and well-presented. The view out of the bedroom window is beautiful and the area is peaceful. We didn’t come into the kitchen for breakfast but would have felt very comfortable in doing so; the only thing to note is that there isn’t a TV, which would have been nice to have of an evening. Obviously the annex doesn’t have its own kitchen which some would prefer. We had a laptop and were mostly out, however, so it suited us well! Thoroughly recommend if you’re looking for a lovely, affordable place to stay whilst visiting Barnstaple/Exeter/any of the surrounding areas”
