3 stops from Kyoto station 13min.Unique accommodations where you can enjoy jazz and travel like a local

If you enjoy sightseeing and music in a quiet town on the shore of Japan's Freshwater Lake, Kyoto living area, this is🎼 the place! It is conveniently located just 3 stops from Kyoto Station (about 13 minutes by ride), but it is not crowded, so you can spend quietly avoiding the crowds.Easy access to major tourist attractions in Osaka, Kyoto, and Shiga (Fushimi Inari 35 minutes/Uji 45 minutes/Gion 40 minutes, Osaka 46 minutes).Close to the world cultural heritage of Enryaku-ji Temple, Omi Shrine, and Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine, you can also walk around the lake while enjoying Japanese cultural heritage such as Karasaki Shrine and Sakamoto Castle Ruins within walking distance. The attached jazz bar and live space has a nice sound system and stage.Currently, we are doing live jazz (weekend afternoons) at roughly once a month, and the jazz bar is open only on weekend evenings (about 3 hours from 18:00 to 21:00 on Saturdays and Sundays), so you should be mindful of noise due to music playing in the store at that time. There is a complimentary live music charge for weekend bookers and 1 free drink if it's jazz bar hours. There are also drug stores and delicious restaurants nearby, making it convenient for shopping and eating.

Lake Biwa View Old Private House 30 minutes from Kyoto Station SUGIE

Sugie is a simple lodging (licensed as a hotel) in a spacious old house surrounded by the beautiful Lake Biwa Canal, a Meiji-era legacy, and is conveniently located 30 minutes from Kyoto Station and 35 minutes from Keihan Sanjo. My grandparents were wealthy merchants who used the above-mentioned Soso (inclined canal) to transport white sand, gravel, granite for gate pillars, etc. to the shrines and temples of Kyoto in wooden boats from the early Showa period. They built a torii gate and shrine in the garden of the house and worshiped Inari to prosper in business. There are many old and rare items such as a large water house (dish rack), a long brazier, and a lantern with a family crest.

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

Omi's Machiya "Kado" Traditional building preservation area

This is the only guest house (entire house rental) facing Shinmachi Street in an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The streets lined with merchants' houses, built in the late Edo period to the Meiji era, give you a strange feeling as if time has stopped when you step into it. This Shinmachi neighborhood is important not only for its scenery but also as a historical site. This is a very rare accommodation where you can stay in such an area.
