“The host family is great. Arranged his friend to meet us at the airport. After arriving, carefully prepared homemade maps, recommended various cost-effective restaurants, 30k per person can be very satisfied. No need to worry about going to Borobudur, because it only takes 5 minutes to walk. Since we are going to watch the sunrise, the host IKA drove us to the attraction at 4 am, took us to the best viewing point, had a buffet breakfast at the attraction, and picked up We returned to the homestay without any extra charge. The room facilities may not be comparable to a star hotel, but it is very clean, the air conditioning and cooling effect is great, the bathroom is a separate water heater, the water is large and can be adjusted to a very hot temperature, which is great in Southeast Asia. The IKA family is very enthusiastic and always welcomes us with a smile.”
The Post of Godod Art homestay is a combination of art galleries and homestays. Here you can enjoy the art as well as get a different experience from any lodging because the design of the room is very personal and unique. The name of our room take from the name of the mountain in Java that is Merapi, Merbabu, Bromo and Lawu.
“Godod Homestay is a beautiful art gallery located in South Yogyakarta, with four rooms available for visitors, each named after a neighbouring volcano. Mine was Lawu and it was a cozy room, clean and nicely painted and with a painting of Mt. Lawu by Mr Godod himself. The gallery contains paintings by various artists and by also Mr Godod, who happens to be a bit of a local celebrity. His son, Gongsor, manages the bookings and is very communicative. He helped me with plenty of advice on the surrounding area and guided me to various places based on my needs. His mother is an absolute angel and prepares the best breakfast I've had in Indonesia! You get a bit of everything of Yogyakarta when you stay here. I was sad to leave this place and bought a couple of paintings as I left. The location is not that far from the main part of the city, which is easily accessible by Go-Jek or any other taxis. Walk around the neighbourhood in the evening to find hidden coffee shops and small Restos with local delicacies to sate your cravings. South Yogyakarta is comparatively quiet and is the best place to stay in my opinion, especially after a long day of activities such as Borobudur, Prambanan or Merapi. I'm hooked to Yogyakarta and will definitely be coming again for a longer vacation. I already know where I'm staying.”
Genthong Homestay is located at the heart of Borobudur Village. It is only 5 to 10 minutes walk to the gate. We have some fruits that you can pick by yourself. Enjoy yourself with the tropical fruits fresh from the tree. Our motto is that we put friendship in every room we sell.
“We booked this place on the day we arrived. They were quick to respond to our requests. Gave directions to find his home. Upon arrival, we were greeted, given the key to our separate building cottage, were served coffee, the cottage was spotless. He informed us of some of the local cuisine and were to get it. Our plans were to go to Borobudur Temple to watch the sunrise. He texted us in the morning to make sure we were awake, gave directions how to get there, and also informed us the cost of tickets. After our outing and returned to the cottage, the Mrs. greeted us and again made fresh coffee. If this place is available when you are planning to go to Borobudur, you would be remiss if you did not book it.”
