We had a wonderful weekend get away. Cape Charles and The house were perfect.

You will not regret booking this little slice of heaven. Thomas, Erin, and their family are wonderful and welcoming. There are many spots to just relax enjoy and the beauty of their land, from the farm to the waterfront. It also is just a 10 minute drive to Cape Charles town center and beach, so there are things to do if you want to be out and about. They have an amazing compiled guidebook, with all sorts of helpful tidbits to help you plan your days. Lampo is the sweetest dog, and it was great to be able to see and interact with the other critters on the farm. It is truly an oasis. We fell in love with their place, and cannot wait to book some time with them again!

Toni’s place is perfect for a peaceful getaway! It’s so incredibly quiet. The house is as cozy as can be. Toni and Jeff are so kind and really make you feel like special guests. The dogs are welcoming too! The fire pit is the perfect gathering place to be with friends and just relax and enjoy the view. Even when it rained, the expansive view from the living room was just as wonderful. Looking forward to a return visit in the future! Can’t recommend it enough. It’s THE BEST place to stay!

The Laughing King (and the Honeymoon Island Cottage in particular) were fantastic! A wonderful quick getaway from DC for couples. The property is gorgeous - a farm with a historic old house that is the main lodge, surrounded by hundred-year-old oak trees, a standalone cottage (that we stayed in for 3 nights), open fields, a saltwater pool, and private beach with dock and a boat and SUPs for guest use. MJ serves up gourmet breakfasts (eggs Benedict, avocado toast, French toast, quiche, etc. over the course of our stay) + coffee in the morning and also dished out recommendations on local spots to visit. 100% will be back!

We recently stayed at this charming home nestled in the woods, and it was an unforgettable experience! The property features a serene pond and a delightful rowboat. The farm is home to goats, chickens, ducks, and the most incredible dog, Buddy, who quickly became our favorite part of the stay. The hosts were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from arrival. The farm itself is lovely, with many trails and hidden nooks to explore. The area is incredibly peaceful, except for the rooster who likes to greet the morning with his crowing – a charming touch that added to the rustic feel. The home is indeed small, and we were at max capacity with two adults and a child. It was good that we left our dogs at home, as there wouldn't have been enough space for them. The house's interior is beautifully decorated, comfortable, yet simple, providing everything we needed for a cozy stay. Overall, this home is a perfect getaway to unwind & enjoy nature.

Great spring break getaway to Cape Charles. The house was perfect for group of 7 and our dog. The kids bunk room and game barn were both big hits with our 3 kids. The house is also convenient to the beach, park, playground, shops and restaurants. We’d definitely rent again!

We had a wonderful stay! The house is a three minute walk to the beach and a three minute walk to downtown. The outdoor shower was so useful for rinsing off sandy beach feet before entering the house. The beds were very comfortable and the HVAC system kept us very comfortable during a few particularly hot days during our stay. We had a couple questions prior to our trip and the host was quick to respond each time. We would absolutely stay here again!

This was a very peaceful location. I truly appreciate the fenced backyard, the solitude, and of course the local coffee! The home was pristine and welcoming, and we had everything we needed. The area was a great place to get away. We traveled to Norfolk twice, and spent time in the Cape Charles downtown. We had no trouble with wireless connections and streaming. The Food Lion was close by for groceries, and when we asked the hosts about a particular kitchen tool, the response and delivery of the tool was immediate! It was a lovely vacation, and if we go back to the area, I wouldn’t hesitate to book the same home.

The captains cottage is very well decorated and equipped. We were three people (my husband and I and our adult daughter). There were great bedroom options for any combination of people. I imagine if you were three unrelated couples that the one large bathroom downstairs could be problematic if you had much older people with you as all four bedrooms are on the second floor. For us it was no problem and it was clear in the listing that this is the case. Everything is TRULY spotless and comfortably/stylishly furnished. Someone clearly has an eye for design. LOVED the back yard privacy and having coffee at the small table in the beautiful bricked secret back garden. The front porch is also lovely - hard to decide between sitting out front or out back! (Screening a small bit of the front porch would be a bonus :) We discovered the local Pickleball group and the four quality local courts - a 6 minute walk from the house. There are fantastic paddling spots and hikes nearby. Loved it!
