Beachfront vacation rentals in Ostional

Our extended family of 14 stayed for 10 days and had a great time. A three minute walk to the beach was the highlight for the kids. The beach was never crowded, had sand expanses to spread out on and able to wade into the surf quite aways. When we were back at the bungalow, the pool was almost always in use. The place is private, but Karla, Alberto and Luis were available whenever we had questions.Karla is an amazing chef and we had many of her meals. Meals were well balanced with delicious fresh juicy fruit. She offered to make American food, but the Costa Rican recipes were too good to pass up. Even the picky eaters had plenty to eat. They were helpful in lining up outings for us and transporting us to a health clinic when our youngest arrived feeling sick. They made us feel like family and welcome. We picked Johnny's Beach Bungalow because we wanted to have a Costa Rican experience that put us in touch with Costa Rican people and culture. We were not disappointed

We were looking forward a remote location to settle for some months. This was a great sanctuary to be alone and explore the empty beach. The WiFi was very good , even when other local services were unavailable. The neighbour made us delicious food when requested. A great adventure.

Beautiful cabin with an excellent location overlooking Playa Callejones! There is a nice lookout area and just a short walk down to the beach. The cabin was perfect for our group and is a great spot for a relaxing break. Beatrice was great and communicated all information clearly and responded quickly to help us sort out a small issue. Would definitely visit again!

Lauren's place is a true slice of paradise! It's perfectly sized for a couple in a nice secluded area tucked behind one of the most desolate, beautiful beaches we'd ever seen with our own private walkway to get there. The yard is huge and gorgeous! You can hear the ocean waves from the yard making it a super peaceful retreat. The kitchen was very well stocked for us to cook meals and even make fresh batidos every day! Junquillal is a beautiful beach and is a 45 minute drive (or less) to Tamarindo, but a significantly quieter area if that's what you're looking for. We'd highly recommend the place and would love to stay again!!

This is our second stay at Lila's amazing property. We love it and are already planning our third trip! Hot tips for this place: it is rural. Get a good 4x4 to get here. It makes the trip so much smoother. Land Cruiser Prados are the way to go. I would not recommend cheaping out on the 4wd. I'd also suggest a Costa Rica eSIM for your cell phone. Coverage is spotty, at best. The beach is INSANE. If you do get here, and see its beauty, please keep it a secret! :) Lila's place is perfect. It has everything you need, and a bit more. It is truly an oasis. Lila is a wonderful communicator. Despite you feeling like you are at the end of the world, she's always there to help, and her local team are amazing. They show up and take care of anything immediately. Download a roadmap on your phone. Trust the local restaurants (El Barco and San Miguel are amazing). This area is sensational, and Lila makes it comfy, safe, and so satisfying! Thank you again, Lila!

Excellent. We had a lovely stay at Hans's, who is with Daniela very responsive and always offers to help. The house is as in the photos, a beach house ON the beach of Sámara, so ideally located, with a convenience store opposite, LA Poissonnerie de Sámara has a housewatch and a beach restaurant 50m away. And the sound of the waves to fall asleep, we'll be back for sure. Thanks a thousand times Hans & Daniela!

Great place to stay! We loved the jungle feel at casa abejas and the salt water pool was amazing.

We had a fantastic stay! We were a group of 5 (myself, husband, two toddlers, and grandmother). There was so much space for everyone. This location is really fantastic- it is removed from the main town area, but we didn't mind at all because the hotel is so great and the stretch of beach that's across the road is absolutely perfect. The food and hospitality here was also wonderful. We can't wait to come back! (Tip- make sure you go to the beach right across the road for sunset. Bring drinks from the hotel bar. Can't be beat)

We had a great stay! Great location close to Playa Pelada, well stocked with everything needed and an outstanding pool and garden area - it was stunningly beautiful! Very close to a few great shops and restaurants.

PARADISE! This will by far be one of the most beautiful villas we have ever stayed in. Not only did it match the pictures perfectly but it exceeded our expectations in every way possible. The tide pools were the best we have ever seen- so many colorful fish and we even saw a little octopus! The kids loved swimming in the pool and in the ocean and we felt like kids again. Kim was a great host and greeted us upon arrival to show us the layout of everything and the security guard was so friendly and I felt really safe with my 11 year old and two children under 2 being there. FIVE star location. Close enough to Tamarindo to experience everything it has to offer, but far enough away to stay away from the crowds. We loved every minute of it and wish we could’ve stayed longer.

Aaron's house was one the best Airbnbs we've experienced and perfect for a couple or small family looking for a small slice of paradise. The property is very private and secure and the spaces are exceptionally well thought out. Besides the close proximity to Baker's beach, the outdoor space including the verandah, pool and lounging areas are thoughtfully designed for enjoyment. The kitchen is very functional for cooking meals at home. The living room is comfortable and if the sliding door to the verandah is open, it's a perfect outdoor living set up. Overall, it is obvious that Aaron has thought of details that can make or break an Airbnb experience and we appreciated that this home felt like a home and not just a space with the basics necessary for rental. Thank you, Aaron!

To say we had a fabulous stay would be an understatement. The location was perfect (not too busy, but not too far from restaurants/shopping etc) and Shawna was super helpful in all aspects of our stay including great local restaurant and excursion recommendations (local horseback riding ranch was phenomenal as were our surf instructors!). Tatiana was amazing and her cooking was delicious (highly recommend utilizing her cooking-I am still dreaming about her Arepas). We always felt safe and comfortable at the house and it was perfect for our group's two young families (kids ages 9, 8, 5, 4 and 3). The house also had easy to carry beach chairs, sand toys, boogie boards and games. The living area/kitchen was a great hangout space and the outside spaces were also wonderful. So sad to have to leave but will hopefully be back in the future! Thanks for a great stay!

Staying at Oscar's house was a perfect experience from start to finish! He was at the house upon our arrival and walked us through showing us how things worked, etc... He and his mom stayed next door the whole time and were helpful but not at all intrusive. They even shared some of the fresh fish that his mom caught with us which we cooked for one of our dinners at home one night! He also let us use his beach chairs and umbrellas, which was very helpful. The house was exactly as described and well stocked. I am VERY picky in terms of cleanliness, and it was very clean! Having two showers, toilet stalls, and bathroom sinks was very helpful for our family of 6. We also appreciated the outdoor shower to rinse the sand off. Town and several great restaurants were an easy 10 minute walk down the beach. We felt very safe in Samara, but we did bring in everything off the porch at night like Oscar recommended. I would absolutely rent this house again in a heart beat. We loved it here!!!

Very happy to have chosen this place to spend my vacation!! An incredible view😍, the apartment is very nice and well equipped. Definitely the perfect place if you want to rest and relax. Very good service from Federico, I always answered my questions to train quickly and friendly. Will definitely be coming back!!

Quiet location, accurate directions made it easy to find. Not ocean view as I had hoped, but a short walk down a path to the most inviting cove. Steve was gracious in accommodating my request.

This place was absolutely perfect for our surfing trip!! Private beach access, beautiful yard looking out to the ocean and spacious home. The hostess was responsive and communicative and very friendly and helpful if we had any questions. I hate to write this review as I don’t want anyone else to know about the place as I would like to keep it to ourselves next year. ☺️. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here. Absolutely a wonderful place and wonderful hosts!!

Great place to spend a relaxing vacation. Douglas was very responsive and the property was in a beautiful location. If you arent familiar with Costa Rica, be prepared the roads and long travel times. The location is in a beautiful location, but doesnt have alot of locations near the property. We were looking for that so it was perfect. Douglas' instructions and recommendations were very helpful and we really enjoyed the pool on property. We also had private chefs and massages on site which were great.

This place and location was spectacular for our family for one week vacation. We were able to walk to the beaches, get good food, go shopping, and best of all, surfing! The community is very kind and friendly!

This place was adorable and seeing the pets was a plus! Definitely recommend a 4x4 car since the roads leading up are rough. Todd was really nice and was always just a text away. This area is so peaceful and we always felt safe!

This is such an amazing and beautiful spot steps from the beach and so close to the friendly little village. Restaurants on the beach welcomed us to a relaxing meal on those days we didn't wish to cook. We went to sleep and awoke to the sound of the surf. So peaceful! Sofia is a thoughtful engaging host. With the care-taker living on site, we felt well taken care of and completely safe. We look forward to returning!
