Monthly Rentals in Painted Hills

Great location, very cozy, and had a beautiful view! The kitchen had everything we needed, the 5 gallon water dispenser, Nespresso pods, and bag of granola were much appreciated! Located close to Smith Rock state park, and the Painted Hills aren’t too far away. This was my first Airbnb I’ve stayed at, so maybe this is standard across all Airbnbs I’m not sure, but I was caught off guard with the extra fees. I stayed 3 nights so I was expecting it to cost $333 plus some sort of service fee, but I ended up paying an extra $180! The service fee was $58, taxes were $41, and then an $80 cleaning fee, even though it’s required to clean up after yourself anyway?? Overall I had a good stay, but was disappointed at the extra fees.

I booked Jody and Dan's place for a birthday weekend getaway. What a great find it was! The location is amazing, and waking up the view of the "wedding cake" was an experience. Not to mention the incredible views of the sky at night. The cabin feels very private and everything you could need for a stay is provided. The host made sure the soaking tub was hot when we arrived, which was a great touch. Nature surrounds the cabin, I enjoyed seeing a variety of birds, including a bunch of quail (so cute), and hearing frogs near the small pond. There were clear instructions to get to the location - which are important because cell service was non-existent for me. All in all staying at stellar cabin provided a much needed respite from the city and I wouldn't hesitate to make the journey back out there.

Just like other reviews have said, pictures do not do this beautiful space justice. The bed was very comfortable and the wood stove was excellent. Some extra amenities included 40L of water, a very nice cooler, plenty of firewood, a towel for the outdoor shower, and a clean and well stocked porta-potty. The cabin also came with some grilling utensils, two pans, a kettle, and a french press. We wished we had brought more of a camp kitchen (plates, bowls, silverware), but otherwise this space was perfect. Bring binoculars if you want some excellent bird watching! We can't wait to visit again.

What a unique and outstanding place to spend a few days while exploring the Painted Hills/John Day area. Bonnie’s place was huge for 2 people and would be perfect for a family or a few couples. The view from the back yard is breathtaking and due to its location in the hills without anything surrounding it, it is perfect for stargazing (we had a perfect clear night during our stay). The kitchen had all the utensils you need to cook which we did one night and there is also a great brew pub 10 mins away in Michell. Our stay lived up to and exceeded our expectations and I would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends. Oh, and it was very cool how it is completely off the grid it is yet we had all the convenience of modern living.
