Places to stay in Bolinas

Places to stay in Bolinas
Absolutely the best location in all of Bolinas! Smack dab in the middle of town. Short walk to EVERYTHING including the beach. Yet FAR off the main road, and deep within the back of our private, quiet beach compound. New, modern feel, simple, bright, lots of windows, cozy, small beach shack. Its own private backyard within the back of our beach compound. Private bathroom, with super hot outdoor shower, short walk away.
Poets, surfers, artists, travelers, people who throw a toothbrush and a swimsuit in their backpack/purse/pocket love this place. People who ask "Where is the hair dryer?" and "Why is there no TV?" should not book this, and probably should book in nearby Stinson Beach instead. The space is small, but tall and feels roomy with lots of windows and light. It is 2 leather chairs and a comfy bed. For the young, and the young at heart. There are twists and turns to get there. It is a long windy path though a secret garden. It is dark path through trees at night. A fox might visit you. If you leave your food out a raccoon will eat it. A deer might sleep next to your door. 5 (quiet at night) chickens (no wake you up in the morning Rooster) are right next door. Smack dab in the middle of town, next to the beach and feels like you are in the country. If the country had banana trees (with actual bananas! Because we literally have the best weather in all of Bolinas on our property. Sheltered from the wind, covered by the sun). Is it magic? Yes. Is it for everyone? No. We've been ripping the sign down for decades for a reason. Not everyone should find Bolinas.
You are on Wharf road. Wharf is the main, and only, commercial street in Bolinas. EVERYTHING is right here. And you are in the best possible location for all of it! Wharf road dead ends into the ocean, and it is from the end of Wharf road that our commercial fishermen leave each morning. In addition to the ocean, you also have local gift shops, 2 surf shops (including the legendary Buzz Surf Shop since 1962!), People Store Organic grocery market, library, community center, John's market, 11 Wharf Restaurant (Beca's), Coast Cafe, Smiley Saloon, Bolinas Museum, Bolinas Gallery and more!
  • The stay was as described, and totally delightful! It’s a marvelous place to stay to enjoy charming Bolinas.

  • Bolinas Bungalow is the perfect little space to get away from it all. It’s situated in the middle of downtown, perfect for grabbing a bite to eat or popping into to the quaint little shops. The bed was comfortable and it was always quiet in the bungalow. The skylights allow just the right amount of sunlight to peak in. It was also quite fun to walk down the pathway back to the bungalow; felt like a little maze. I wasn’t sure how I would like the outdoor shower, but was pleasantly surprised at the how hot the water got and it felt great with the cool air around. Very refreshing. Overall, I was able to have peace and quiet and was able to keep to myself. Definitely recommend this place as a wonderful little getaway to relax and/or explore the beautiful surrounding areas of Bolinas.

  • Great little place in a cute coastal town with easy access to Stinson Beach and Tomales Bay! Two restaurants with fresh seafood literally a 2 minute walk from the bungalow, plus a coffee cart and store. Wish Smiley’s had been open for a good late-night drink option (currently closed for remodeling), but everything else was great and just as advertised in the listing. Quick and helpful communication from hosts. Would stay again!

  • The bungalow is sweet, quiet, and comfortable. It got chilly at night but the little heater warmed it right up. The location can’t be beat!

  • Very unique place in an ideal centralized location right in the heart of Bolinas. Hosts extremely helpful in providing local tips and accommodating any needs that come up. Room is pretty small so travel light when staying here! A perfect place to crash for a short stay in Bolinas.

  • Cozy place and perfect location in downtown bolinas. Hosts were communicative and welcoming. Hope to be back and stay again!

  • Wonderful place to stay right in the heart of Bolinas. Good coffee and food nearby and such a sweet host with plenty of recommendations.

  • This is a secret I don’t want to tell anyone because I want them to always be available BUT I guess I’ll be generous and share the love. It’s perfect. Tiny, cozy, close to town (like you can walk to literally everything)- just what you need for a vacation if you’re mostly out at the beach or chillin with local folks at Smileys or grabbing a bite at the Coast Cafe or romantic and cuddled up in the very comfy bed- the bathroom amenities are rustic but very clean and all part of the charm. Who doesn’t love to pass a chicken coop on the way to shower outside? (Don’t worry, it’s very private) I love you forever, Bungalows. See you next time. ♥️

  • My boyfriend and I stayed here for a little weekend getaway and couldn't have been more pleased. The garden was a beautiful sanctuary and a wonderful sight to wake up to. The space was small and cozy, perfect for two! The outdoor shower was an adventure, as we arrived on a very windy day, so keep the shower curtain shut took some work but it gave us a great story :) I would definitely come back in the future and recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway from the city!

Get ready for a peaceful cabin retreat, complete with hot tub, and a cozy propane "wood" stove! Explore the nearby world-famous Duxbury Reef tide pools and a sandy beach. The second bedroom is a large, open loft. We provide white noise machines in both sleeping areas, in case your family has different sleep schedules. Cooks have all the tools needed to prepare a gourmet meal. Video tour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miEHywUTL10&feature=youtu.be
The neighborhood is secluded, peaceful and quiet. The cabin is situated on the mesa, which overlooks the beautiful Pacific coast. From the cabin, take a five minute walk to the cliff to enjoy an spectacular sunset from the cliff. The last three blocks of the route are dirt roads. There is very little traffic or noise of any kind--just birds, deer, quail and other wildlife.
  • Place is a bit secluded but the host provided detailed directions to get to the place since the GPS directions are not the best route. The living room area is spacious and kitchen stocked with all necessary equipment. Elina was very quick to respond and also accommodating to our request given the unfortunate circumstance (Coronavirus). We walked down the beach on a Saturday afternoon and the neighborhood was very friendly. I recommend this place for a romantic getaway, small family or group of 4-5.

    Jade Carina2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was perfect for our spring break vacation. We used it as a base to visit Stinson Beach, Point Reyes (highly recommend), Muir Woods, and to hike Mt Tamalpais state park. Point Reyes had some nice restaurants and grocery stores. We also had fresh fish and chips at the Coastal Cafe in Bolinas. Agate Beach is only a ten minute walk from the cabin (a trail through the trees in the backyard will lead you down to the bluffs where you can descend). At low tide, you can explore the tide pools. It was very quiet in Bolinas and and we relaxed each evening in the hot tub. It was very nice to have a washer and dryer and full kitchen. Make sure to purchase oil and everything you will need to cook. There was salt and pepper and some various spices. Also, there is not much in the way of Tupperware to store leftovers. I highly recommend the cabin. It is a bit out in the "boonies", but that's what makes it special!

    Sara2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best time, hot tub was great after hiking, quiet neighborhood great house, looking forward to staying there again

    Susie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Secluded spot. Pleasant. Bumpy, dirt road for a bit to get there. 20 minute walk to beach. Hot tub a real bonus. Four people at most. Very nice.

    Jay2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This house was beautiful and so cool! The large windows provided a beautiful view of the yard and the ocean could be heard from the deck. The house was very roomy and had everything we needed. Elina provided great directions for driving to the house and getting to the beach. Would love to visit again!

  • A wonderful, clean, comfortable refuge in beautiful Bolinas. The room is sparely decorated but the bed is comfortable, everything is spacious (the bathroom especially), they stock some wonderful local skincare products for you to use, and overall we found it a peaceful, relaxing, perfect getaway.

  • This is our 2nd time staying. Always a lovely and relaxing experience. We'll be back!

    Anne2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, getaway. Very simple but all you need. Luxurious and there is a great bathtub!

    Nicholas2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at this room above the cafe. The bathtub was a huge hit after a day hiking. Everything was very clean and appeared in almost brand new condition. We got the feeling that the cafe is the priority and the rooms are sort of an afterthought - in other words expect no amenities, welcome beverage or extra attention from the owners. But still a nice place to stay if you want to spend time in Bolinas.

This 2 story cottage is situated in a lovely rambling garden in Bolinas. Good parking and private entrance. Downstairs is the common area with kitchenette, dining nook and a very confirmable queen size pull out sofa. The bedroom upstairs, accessible via a spiral staircase, is bright and sunny and has a a view of Mount Tam. The Shower and toilet room are separate and on the downstairs level.
This classic West Marin cottage is owner built and very unique. The downstairs space opens up to a lovely private sunny deck in the garden . The cottage is bright and airy, with fun and innovative architectural details. It is walking distance from downtown Bolinas and the surrounding beaches. There is a shared outdoor shower ,that we ask the guests to use after the beach or surfing.
The neighborhood is quiet residential. Only a 10 minute walk to famous Agathe Beach for tide pool watching. 15-20 minute walk to the pretty downtown of Bolinas, Sandy Beach and great surf.
  • The cottage was a wonderful weekend escape — it was charming and well designed, and the cozy loft bedroom overlooks a lush garden, which made us feel relaxed instantly upon our arrival. The home has so many nice details (our favorite was a very unique glass-roof indoor shower), and the hosts were exceptionally friendly. We will absolutely be back!

    Lauren2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is what airbnb is all about! A beautiful quirky place in a fantastic secluded location. The place is super nice -- with details like an amazing all glass shower. Paulette had prepared it really nice with coffee, milk and some muffins ready when we arrived, and she and her husband were wonderful hosts. The bedroom is on a second story loft with an access by an outdoor stairs. So not ideal for mid-night bathroom need. But that's well worth it in order to get to stay here.

    Oscar2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Just a lovely cottage, sparkling clean, with great communication from our host Paulette. We learned the cottage was built by Paulette's husband, a now-retired builder, and his craftsmanship shows throughout. We'll come again when the garden is in!

    Karl2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had wonderful stay at this property- great hosts and beautiful location

    Richard2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect spot for our low-key girlfriend’s getaway. It had enough space for 4 people and was so close to the beach/town. It’s a very unique and charming home, sparkling clean, and it is truly a gem in Bolinas. We hope to come back sometime!

    Abby & JJ2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a lovely two-night stay at Paulette's cottage. It's one-of-a-kind, cute, well-appointed and well-located. The garden surrounding the cottage is also beautiful. Paulette is a very gracious and responsive host. Will definitely come back when we visit the area again.

    Freda2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time staying in Bolinas. I was visiting my friend who lives next door so it was super convenient. Easy to get to Stinson beach or Point Reyes. House is clean and decorated beautifully inside and out!

I travel the world searching out interesting people and places, and this place is where I choose to live. Bo is one of the most special places on the planet. You can literally look out over the Pacific Ocean and see San Francisco, arguably the most thriving city on the planet. Meanwhile in Bolinas there is an honor system farmstand as you drive into town, where you literally put money in the metal box and take your produce--and eggs!
The town is small, and most people live on the big mesa, which is nice, but you will probably be getting in a car to go into the super cute town with everything from a general store to a bar that’s been there since 1851 to a hardware store complete with lumber yard! Cool thing about my place, it’s on the little mesa, which means you can walk to downtown, and the beach. Yes, it’s a 5 minute stroll to the beach, and honor system bookstore. My favorite part about my place though, is the front deck. You can see the ocean from it, and hear the waves crash, which is much louder at night--so leave the bedroom cracked and you can fall asleep to the ocean. The deck is surrounded by beautiful trees and succulent garden. This mean you can actually sit outside in the shade and enjoy the deck all day long. And I even have a yoga mat that you can use on the deck, just give the deck a little sweep first. The apartment is the downstairs unit of Captain Marco and Babette's house. They're about as cool as it gets and are a huge value add for staying here! He's a slightly crusty sailboat captain and race car driver. She continues to hone her skills as one of the most amazing people on the planet. And lastly, and most importantly. The internet sucks. It’s pretty much the bain of my existence. The good news is that because this is something I care so much about, we pretty much have the best achievable internet in Bolinas. I have satellite, DSL, my work requires that I be online. There is a TV with Apple. There’s so much more, but I’ll let you discover it. Enjoy your stay.
Walking distance to one of the cutest downtowns in the world. The beach is even closer!
  • This spot is perfectly charming and serene. The living space has huge windows with views out to the ocean but is tucked away in the garden so it feels private. The kitchen is well stocked, and the dining area is a good spot to eat or get work done (wifi is excellent). The patio is a perfect place to eat outside on nice evenings and watch the sunset. It's a beautiful 6 minute walk to the beach and all the shops and restaurants on Wharf Road.

  • This is a great place for a couple to escape the city scene. Well appointed, panoramic views of the ocean and welcoming hosts. We really enjoyed the lagoon and beach. Highly recommended.

  • Even better than the pics! Clean, comfortable, and fantastic views. I was super cozy in the freshly pressed sheets that smelled fabulous...and equally happy sipping my coffee and watching surfers. Sooo glad I discovered this gem!

    Jen2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome spot!!! Location can’t be beat 5 min beautiful walk to the beach and town. Babette is a dream and the ocean sounds at night can’t be beat. Relaxing on the deck also a plus!! Would totally recommend and come back again and again!

    Megan2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful space. It is just up the hill from Bolinas beach and downtown. The road up is a bit tight and one way, but walkable for those up for the adventure who don’t want to get back in the car. The space is roomy and comfortable. My husband and I absolutely loved our stay!

    Katie2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Third stay and the unit has new everything! A great place made even better! We have fallen for Bolinas and look forward to our next visit!

    Bryan2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a must stay on your trip...minutes from the ocean and the perfect place to stay along the coast. Had a wonderful meal and wine at Eleven in Bolinas with such amazing people. We hiked Muir Woods and Point Reyes...ate fresh oysters at the cutest bar in Olema and listened to a fabulous bluegrass band at The Western in Point Reyes. We made the most out of our two days there. Cannot wait to go back...everything was perfect!

  • We had a wonderful, cozy weekend at Sha Sha's place. It's within easy walking distance of the beach, wharf road, and basically everything in Bolinas. Convenient and comfortable - we enjoyed a great getaway. We'd love to stay here again.

    Kristen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sha Sha’s place reminded me a lot of my parents home — an old farm house in rural Indiana. Noticing the familiar intricacies and quirks of a less modern way of home-life made for an especially unique and enjoyable experience. Outside the cottage, it’s a short walk to town and/or the beach, which is convenient. We found yoga to be a perfect two-night stop along our CA-1 road trip, with beautiful routes going north and south from Bolinas.

    Tim2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a unique and unforgettable experience, Sha Sha’s place is a piece of art, from its architecture, to its decoration, fixtures and appliances. Very well located as well, and so well blended in the charming bolinas feel. Our kids loved discovering every little corner of this hobbit’s house and its surroundings.

    Stephan2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Sha Sha for sharing your home and giving us the most wonderful weekend. Where to even begin? Cozy, charming, incredibly well located -- we loved every second of it. Whether we were enjoying a cup of coffee by the fire, soaking in the outdoor tub, or taking a serene walk down to the beach with our pup -- we got exactly what was needed. There's so much character coming out from every corner of this cottage and Sha Sha was thoughtful to have these cute little signs to help us navigate. What an incredible host she is, Sha Sha checked in to make sure everything was good on our end. Couldn't of asked for more. Highly recommended if you're looking for a picture-perfect getaway as a couple.

  • Fantastic, and very eclectic, home in the heart of Bolinas. My wife, 6 month old, and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend.

    Nick2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was awesome, located right near the beach and also a short walk to town. Classic northern California style, with super unique interior. One nice thing is that the kitchen is very well stocked, it has everything needed for cooking and baking.

    Anders2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay here, the cozy wood stove, the sweet soaking tubs, eclectic artwork and being a nice, easy walk to the beautiful beach, where parking is limited, was a big plus!

    David2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely magical, absolutely once-in-a-lifetime, absolutely perfect. Staying here was a dream come true, and just two nights felt like a year in paradise- we left feeling creatively, spiritually, and emotionally restored. It's hard to convey how many thoughtful and fun details Sha Sha has included in this Bolinas-incarnate home. Every room is designed to heal and center, is peppered with antiques and art and quirks, skylights and plants abound, a private Japanese tub outside fills quickly and offers a few of a massive songbird-filled eucalyptus tree, a sound system can pipe jazz into almost every room while you cook in the cute kitchen or use the grill outside, fluffy robes are laid out, and there are endless nooks to explore. Our favorite was the sunroom upstairs. You feel completely embedded in a nature-lovers paradise, it's so peaceful and private. It's hard to leave, but if you do, the beach is a five-minute walk, Coast Cafe and the People's Store about ten, and Point Reyes just a fifteen-minute drive for the hike of your dreams to Alamere falls. We'd stay forever if we could. Thank you, Sha Sha!

My Fishermen's cottage is great for families (with kids). It has fantastic views across the water to SF. Very quaint and charming. The cottage is located on the bluff in Bolinas. This is a quiet retreat, away from the stresses of life! Enjoy a short walk down to Agate beach, at low tide there are many tide pools to explore. Get cozy by the fire after a day at the beach. Appreciate a beautiful sunset while barbecuing on the porch.
This is a primitive but cozy cabin with a wood-burning stove, we provide firewood. Plenty of seating in the dining/living area, it is a wonderful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Sleeps 4 This is the perfect place to get away from it all, even your phone! WIFI data is limited, but emailing and basic web searches are ok.
This is a somewhat remote neighborhood with dirt roads, the ocean is all around you! Enjoy the view from the cottage, Agate beach is a stunning beach! It is about a 10-15 min walk from the cottage or a 5 min drive. Go at low tide if you want to explore the tide pools.
  • This is a wonderful cottage in a beautiful and peaceful location looking over the ocean. It is cozy and well equipped. My kids enjoyed lots of time spent on the beach, bbqing on the porch and taking walks down bucolic lanes. Easy check in and out and quick responses to questions. All in all a great getaway!

  • Isabelle’s place was a perfect escape. It’s very simple and peaceful but a great way to detach. The kitchen is well stocked and the beds are comfy. We enjoyed hiking nearby and exploring Bolinas. Hope to be back soon!

  • Great little cabin type place. Awesome views nearby and great places to walk and hike.

    Daniel2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy little cabin in a lovely location. Even during a rainstorm it was enough to have a fire going and play board games. Deer grazing on the front lawn, the sound of waves crashing in the background, morning walks to the water. Good for kids. We’d definitely stay here again.

    Gina2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very simple cottage in an absolutely gorgeous location. A great place to unplug.

    John2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Isabelle’s little house is at the quiet – west - end of Bolinas. It is a modest house, simply furnished, very much to our taste. It has a good view of the coastal range and a bit of the ocean, and is very quiet. Everything was well prepared for us and clean. The kitchen equipment is more extensive than many Airbnb rentals. If/when we go back to Bolinas we will certain want to stay at Isabelle’s house again.

  • You won’t believe the view, it’s hard to leave behind. The house itself is smartly designed, think of it as rustic luxury. If you have kids who are light sensitive or you are, make sure to bring some room darkening materials or a face mask as the curtains don’t block out much light. Otherwise, let the ocean waves soothe you to sleep. I would definitely stay again

  • We had such good weather during our stay that we hardly left the property! We started every day watching the sunrise from the hot tub and ended the days watching the sunset from the large outdoor bath. We look forward to booking again.

  • My 60th birthday celebration was spectacular! My husband and grown kids and granddaughter enjoyed the beautiful serene stay at this ocean front property! The quaint downtown and beach was a convenient walk away and we enjoyed the local coast cafe and people’s grocery store! The accommodations were comfortable and views breathtaking and memorable!

    Karen2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a stunner! The views are incredible and can't be beat. No matter the time of day the ocean views are stunning and incredibly relaxing. The home itself is simple and compliments the scenery perfectly. It's very comfortable, the kitchen has all the necessities, comfy beds, great pressure in showers, responsive heat and super clean! We have twin toddlers and the place was great for them too. We can't wait to come back for some good exploration and R+R.

  • Amazing place in the heart of beautiful Stinson Beach.

    Tim2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • it's sweet place, with probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. beware that the bedroom is totally separate from the main buliding, and as such, it has no bathroom. it's just good to know. it's in a separate a tent. as I said, it has the most comfortable bed ever. I loved it, sleeping there was like an adventure. I loved the electronic blankets, and the super soft cushions. the hot tub is amazing, and the yard is cute. the place is literally a 1-minute walk from the beach, and only a few-minutes from the "city centre" with great restaurants, bars, and a grocery store. it's a good deal, I liked it!

NOTE: Construction next door to my property is scheduled to start in October. I am happy to refund $50 per day that noise from this project affects your stay but want all potential guests to be aware of this issue prior to booking. Relaxing refuge set on a lush hillside in the quiet seaside town of Stinson Beach. Feel transported by the authentic Japanese design aesthetic and tranquil outdoor shower and soaking tub. Indulge in treetop ocean views from the comfort of a queen bed, and watch the sun set from the privacy of a wooden deck. Walk only five minutes to three miles of perfect beach.
It's worth the journey down through the trees on uneven stone stairs and very steep wooden stairs to find yourself transported away from it all. A comfortable queen bed with plenty of pillows affords the perfect sitting spot to look out through the branches of the treetops at the ocean. The small kitchen area has all you need for simple cooking. You'll find extra blankets in the closet behind an antique Japanese room screen while the new handcrafted shoji screen conceals the toilet and bathroom sink. The outside shower is exhilarating (and for the adventurous in the rain and winter) while the soaking tub is beyond relaxing while looking at the ocean watching the sky change colors at sunset. Ahhhhh. Good WiFi, flashlights for night walking, aromatherapy for fully relaxing, eye masks for sleeping in!
Stinson Beach is a quiet seaside town popular for its calm surf, smooth sand, and miles of mountain trails. The beach bungalow set on the hillside with wooden and stone stairs to arrive. Worth the trek, but if you have a bad knee, a tricky ankle or a hitch in your get-along, this is not the property for you.
  • This is truly a special place to stay. It is beautiful, private, and spa-like. Margaux provides all the best amenities, including robes and slippers! If you want to treat yourself, definitely stay here!

  • Margaux’s place was so peaceful and beautifully decorated! We arrived after dark, and it was easy to find because the path is well lit! The bungalow has a beautiful ocean view and it’s an easy short walk to the beach! We absolutely loved this place and will be coming back in the summer!

    Bonnie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay at the Bird's Nest! It was peaceful and serene, with a lovely view and a beautifully decorated interior. A really short walk to the beach as well! Loved the thoughtful details everywhere. Margaux was super easy to reach for any questions we had too. Will definitely be back!

    Amal2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • It's amazing to think that this bungalow actual has a fantastic ocean view that isn't continually called out as the top feature or showcased much in the images, but it made sense when we arrived. This was easily the best Airbnb we've stayed it. The space is thoughtfully laid out in what feels like a modern and comfortable tree house, has everything needed for cooking, hanging out, working etc., is a quiet and private location that you have completely to yourself. The deck, outdoor shower and tub are all excellent. There is something pretty magical about waking up at this location in the morning. As travelers from SF, you felt as if you were miles away from anything that may have been stressing you out. It's a short walk to the beach and and even shorter walk to the town, and Margaux was an exceptional host. I couldn't recommend this place enough. We will be back.

    Matt2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

  • Excellent place to get away. Really close to the tide pools. Grabbed some chai at the local store, bought some fresh lettuce at the farm stand on the way in, and ate a bunch of parkside bread. really well insulated house, didn’t turn on much heat at all in november. thanks!

  • This house was truly magical. Wondrous is the best way to say it. It is hard to capture in words how much personality the home has and its surrounding beauty. The beds were so comfortable, the bathrooms were stunning, quirky decor that actually delighted the senses. We spent time watching the sunsets from several spots. Outstanding. We will return again ... and hopefully again after that. We highly recommend. Plenty of space for several families.

    Danica2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful, luxurious, spacious and unique home. Thoughtful, well curated, comfortable. Great kitchen, deck, backyard. Lots of interesting touches and places to hang out and be social, or checkout and have a quiet moment. The location is lovely. Ocean views and the sound of waves breaking in the distance. Every morning we were visited by a mother and daughter deer who came by to eat the apples that had fallen from the apple tree. One evening a fox trotted across the back porch. We were two families; four adults and three kids. We all had a great time.

    William2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The beautiful home was full of fun eclectic touches that made every turn a fun surprise. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood with breathtaking views, it was a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. We stayed here as a family before my wedding and it was the perfect place to spend quality time together. The amenities were wonderful as well- sauna, views, sandbox, outdoor patios, bathrooms, etc. I would highly recommend staying here.

  • We had another wonderful stay at this property!

    Sheila2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this gorgeous house! The ocean views were spectacular from the very back and second floor deck, and from the whole third floor. We appreciated the fresh, local bread we were given when we picked up the keys, as well as the wine. We had guests during the day, and found so many great spaces to entertain inside and outside. The company worked with us so that we knew what was allowed. We cooked the entire time, and the kitchen was extremely well stocked. Oh, and the huge stock of kids toys was phenomenal. My entire family can’t wait to return.

200 square foot cabin is located on a half acre with sweeping views of Northern California's rugged coast line, Mt. Tamalpias and the Pacific Ocean. The cabin is located next to open space with hiking and biking trails. It is a short walk to our quaint village and the beach.
Spectacular mountain and ocean views. You hear the sound of birds and waves. Dark night skies allow you to enjoy the stars. You hear animal sounds in the night. You have peace and quiet and fresh air. All with in a cosy, clean, private and safe cabin!
The cabin is in an area known as the Highlands. Because we buffer open space all the lots are 1/2 acer, with world class views. There are three restaurant all within walking distance, I suggest you walk to each one and check out the menus and specials to see what calls to you. Under the lifeguard tower on the sand is good little outdoor cantina. The Stinson Beach Market ( grocery store )
  • We really enjoyed our stay & highly recommend Gayle’s place! The cabin is perfectly located only a couple minutes from town, but when you’re there you feel like you are away from everything with only the sounds of nature and amazing views. Clean, quaint, and cozy!!

The views from the deck are incredible and the property is just 5 minutes away from restaurants and the grocery store. Lots of thoughtful miscellaneous things that one may need for their stay (space heater, robes, mini fridge, hairdryer, plate ware). We would definitely stay here again :)

  • Beautiful little cottage tucked away in the hills. I would highly recommend staying here for a weekend getaway.

    Chase2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a beautiful little cabin. There was a family of deer that hung out right next to the house watching us. Even when we were on the porch talking they stayed and kept us company. Views were beautiful and in the little town, we also saw a fox and a coyote! The cabin was snug with a little plug-in heater and plenty of blankets. You had to walk a brief way to the bathroom but there were solar lights along the path so that was no problem in the night.

    quiet and peaceful
  • Loved how spacious this house is. It was great cooking up our food in the well-stocked kitchen, then enjoying the meals in the adjoining dining room with a table that could sit 12 easily. The fireplace in the living room kept us warm. The hottub out back was a delight. A stroll up and down the beach is a must. Overall, our family had a wonderful stay.

  • Absolute dream house! Perfect for cooking big family style meals, relaxing, and enjoying all the wonders that the majestic town of Bolinas has to offer! The home is exquisite and it’s in the best location for walking through the lovely town.

  • Jason’s place is lovely! It’s a giant house (14-15 people fit comfortably) just down the street from the beach and across the tennis courts in town. The kitchen is especially great and is a good spot for chefs and home cooks alike. We will be back!

    Elena2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly wonderful place to have a relaxing weekend for a group. The house is big. It's casual and comfortable, and the kitchen and dining room make it easy to feed a crowd. The hot tub is amazing and make sure to leave time to nap in the double-wide hammock on the front porch. Jason is responsive and friendly. And you can't beat the location — 1 block from the beach.

  • A wonderful place to gather with friends and loved ones! Spacious, pretty, comfortable-- we come back again and again! Such a sweet spot!

    Elizabeth2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • The large size worked out well for our group (including children). We enjoyed the hot tub, and the location was very convenient for beach access and getting coffee/food. Although it's nice to be forced off the grid sometimes, the wifi was very spotty, so my main suggestion would be to improve the wifi access.

Quiet and Peaceful with Ocean Breeze. We are in the country and it does happen that we can have encounters with deer, fox, raccoons, frogs and sometimes mice.
  • Without question my best airbnb stay ever. Perched a stone's throw from the cliff overlooking the Pacific, the location's perfect. Complete with an epic selection of vinyl, a piano and a wood burning stove, it was the perfect getaway. The host, who lives in an adjacent house, catered to my every need. She was perfect. I will be returning as soon as possible.

Our home is centrally located in the heart of Marin County and is tucked away in a beautiful redwood grove between the Point Reyes National Seashore, Wine Country, and San Francisco. Hiking and mountain biking are just steps away and road cycling enthusiasts can easily tour the rolling hills.
The suite is located downstairs and has a private entrance which can easily be found with its orange color. Just outside the door you will find a charming flag stone terrance surrounded by redwood trees which you will have full access to use at all hours. Your back yard is the Giacomini Open Space Preserve where you can hike, bike, and even participate in equestrian activities. In addition, the nearby Point Reyes National Seashore is a great place to sight whales as they migrate south, observe the elephant seals and their pups, and catch a glimpse of salmon spawning. On arrival you will find the space to be well appointed including a small refrigerator, Nespresso machine, microwave, tv and internet channels including Netflix and Pandora, as well as wifi for use with your personal devices.
San Geronimo is a quiet neighborhood with a lot of history. At the base of our hill, you can find the Two Bird Cafe which serves an amazing breakfast and is popular with the locals. For evening entertainment you can venture into Fairfax (just 10 minutes away) or visit the Papermill Creek Saloon in Forest Knolls (5 minutes away) which features live music most nights.

Wonderful hospitality and great touches! Thank you! 🙏

  • Amber's place in Bolinas is great! I have now had two different family members stay there while in town visiting me, and the accommodations could not have been better. Clean big kitchen and living area, and a nice big comfy (according to my family) bed. Will definitely be renting this place again!

    Danielle2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Comfy with a remarkably well-equipped kitchen! The bed in the bedroom is very comfortable, and the sofa bed in the living room is fine but a bit noisy. Very quiet location, and Amber is helpful but unobtrusive. Nice to have a clothes washer and drier (with detergent) available. A great value in an expensive location.

    Andrew2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderfully peaceful time at Amber's place. It was very quiet and we slept well. The kitchen was very complete with everything we could need to cook with. The master bedroom, closet, and bathroom were all very large. The pullout sofa was comfortable (but really noisy to move on). There is a nice walk down to look at the ocean and we saw a beautiful, full, moon shining on the water, and on the other side, a beautiful sunset. I would definitely recommend Amber's place.

  • Don’t come for the WiFi, do t come for an all inclusive luxury stay. Come because Bolinas is Northern California’s best kept secret. We arrived early because we remembered that street parking can be challenging and we’re lucky enough to secure a spot right in front of the Air bnb. We took a picnic to the beach for a few hours, made sandcastles and watched surfers do that zen thing. By the time check in came around we easily let ourselves in and took a nap. Drove to Due West for happy hour oysters but then came back and dined at Eleven where we had every single item on the menu. Had a cozy bath and sleep and headed back home on a cloud. Love how clean and easy this experience was.

    Adrienne2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was excellent! Great location and the restaurant downstairs is excellent!

    Alex2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! Had a delicious dinner downstairs before settling in the BnB. Nice private entrance and quaint decor. The space was larger than expected, and the bed was very comfy. It wasn't much an issue for us, however we we're able to hear the restaurant downstairs after closing time(Possibly cleaning up and prepping for the next day). The window shades do not block any light, so if you're sensitive to light in the morning, expect to rise and shine with the sunrise!

    Mario2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy little spot in one of my favorite beach towns. Great location if you want to avoid a hectic drive back to the Bay Area after a long day or to catch some uncrowded sunrise surf! Would definitely stay again.

    Chad2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really cute and stylish! Make sure to take a long bath and then head downstairs for a delicious dinner.

    John2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, Convenient and Comfortable. It's in an old building over a restaurant and wine bar, so full of character but a little noisy compared to a hotel room, but that's part of the charm as far as we are concerned.

Calif. wildflowers & quail surround this carefully designed 400 sq.ft. studio cottage with tiled, well-stocked kitchen, one queen bed, CA.bay flooring, large bathroom, clawfoot tub with shower, private parking and garden, 1/3 mile from Agate Beach, set in 1.5 acre native plant garden.
Enjoy the north-central coast of California at the Quail House in Bolinas, an aesthetically pleasing, immaculately clean, and comfortable retreat for singles, couples, or couples with a child under 5 or 6. There is much attention to detail throughout this private, separate building with its own parking place and entrance to the property. Located within a famous one and a half acre demonstration garden of coastal native plants, in the incomparable "hippie-chic" (as one visitor called it) town of Bolinas, one hour but a world away from San Francisco. Here at the southern end of the Pt Reyes National Seashore, 150 miles of hiking trails await you. The cottage is an entirely self-contained 400 sq. ft (20'x20') unit that includes a full kitchen and spacious bathroom, with its own parking space, visited only by you and the quail. In the surrounding garden, we grow some of the many threatened native California wildflowers, for seed-collection and for the seasonal enjoyment of our guests and us. The cottage is one large room, with a completely equipped new kitchen area, including apartment sized refrigerator, butcher block and tiled counters, and a new gas stove. The style is "California bungalow." Guests often remark on the furniture. The sound of the ocean, 1/3 of a mile away, will rock you to sleep. Please note that we have a three-night minimum Friday thru Sunday. Please discuss with us if you wish to bring a child with you, so we can ensure time to "baby proof" the cottage. You will enjoy a new and comfortable queen size bed with organic sheets and down comforters, a reclining 2-person loveseat, and a spacious bathroom with a clawfoot bathtub and on-demand unlimited hot water for long, luxurious baths or showers after hiking. Fine bath products are available for your use. We provide Peets or other high quality caffeinated coffee, and a wide selection of teas. We stock staples like olive oil and Balsamic and other vinegars and seasonings, and fine dutch cocoa for hot chocolate. When available, we share fresh eggs from our neighbor's backyard hens. Books on the area are supplied, including three books written by your host, partly about the development of this garden, and published by University of California Press. Organic, local, salvaged, and re-purposed materials were used whenever possible in the construction of the cottage. The floor and shelving is made of locally-milled California bay laurel. Tile from the Sausalito Heath Tile Factory ornaments the kitchen, with a built-in butcher block counter. The high ceiling and many windows add to the pleasantness of the dappled sunlight changing throughout the day. A large coast live oak surrounds the cottage, providing roosting spaces for our local quail covey and a scenic backdrop for the cottage. Coffeeberry, coyote bush, redwoods, and many native wildflowers and bunchgrasses, surround the cottage. The garden has been designed with the needs of California quail in mind, and their sweet and varied calls can be heard throughout the day. This is why no pets are allowed. Sorry, no exceptions. The Quail House is perfect for writers, with a spacious wooden dining table to spread out at, and a small private desk area as well. Your neighbors are an eclectic assortment of local fishermen, surfboard shapers, woodworkers, one publisher, and several ceramicists. Your host is the proprietor of Larner Seeds, dedicated specialists in California native plants, so plant and bird lovers will find a lot to learn and enjoy on-site as well as in the vicinity. Nearby Agate Beach is a 1/3 mile walk away, and includes Duxbury Point, a famous Marine Sanctuary for tidepooling and beach walking. It's a rocky beach, so if you prefer a sand beach, go downtown to Brighton Beach, or make the trek to Stinson Beach, 15 minutes south on Hwy One. This town is a unique enclave of dedicated artists, writers, naturalists, and rugged individualists. If you choose, you can be busy all the time, with the many local events taking place in our lively community. The Hearsay News, available downtown at both grocery stores, lists all events. A minimum stay of 3 nights is required, with a cleaning fee of $75.00 and a security deposit of $500.00. A required Transient Occupancy Tax of 10%, added to the nightly price of $190.00, is collected by Airbnb to help pay for the fact that over 50% of Marin County, the unincorporated West Marin, is parks and open space for your enjoyment. Cancellations require one week in advance. Singles, couples, and families with one child under 5 can be accommodated. Public transportation is provided by West Marin Stagecoach. Downtown Bolinas is one of the sweetest downtowns in the world (in our opinion). Though we have only (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) people in Bolinas, downtown you will find a restaurant, two markets, the library, the post office, several shops, a saloon, a sandy beach, a second-hand store, and an excellent regional museum. A downtown like this is a real center for the community, Explore! Check out the events and classes at the Bolinas Community Center as well. Here are many interesting cultural events, and some of our visitors have thrown themselves with gusto into local events and classes. One couple planned their visit around a talk at the New School at Commonweal. You can go to their website and register. These talks are usually free. They've had most recently Michael Pollan. The local saloon, Smiley's, is the oldest continuously operating saloon in California, providing a continuous array of a wide variety of musicians, both local and not. There are two markets in town, one, The Bolnas Peoples Store, a natural foods store and the other, The Bolinas Market, providing local meats, seafood, and poultry. We also have a great restaurant offering local produce and seafood, the Coast Cafe, as well as Eleven, which has a small, delicious, ever changing menu. We suggest reservations on weekends. The brunch at the Coast Cafe is highly recommended. Indoor and outdoor seating. The Bolinas Museum has top-quality exhibits and a fascinating and informative History Room. Musical events and exhibit openings often take place in its courtyard. On Fridays, Star Route Farms, the oldest organic farm in the state, sells directly to the public as well. We also have a unique used bookstore, Michael's, where you can stock up on used books for $1.to $2 apiece! It is next to the Post Office on Brighton Road. Our local surf shop around the corner provides lessons and surfing supplies. Located at the southern end of the Pt Reyes National Seashore, we have access to 150 miles of trails. Nearby is the Pt Reyes Bird Observatory, a must-see, as well as Commonweal, a well-known retreat center sponsoring an impressive array of NGOs and with a lecture series packed with interesting speakers. View (EMAIL HIDDEN) A favorite trail begins at Palomarin parking lot at the end of Mesa Road, with access to Bass Lake, a favored summer swimming spot, Alamere Falls, and Pelican Lake. For the intrepid hiker looking for a challenge, these trails can be taken all the way into the northern part of Pt Reyes National Seashore. There are hikes of all lengths and difficulty. We are glad to advise you. Only an hour's drive from San Francisco, we are surrounded by national and state parks and county open space. Mt. Tamalpais State Park, with its gorgeous views, the summer Mountain Play, and an astounding number of different ecosystems, is accessed just across Hwy One on the Bolinas-Fairfax Road and includes redwoods, serpentine, grasslands, and chaparral, with numerous beautiful trails available. Hikers will never run out of hikes around here, and surfers will be happy as well. We are 10 minutes north of Stinson Beach and about half an hour from the renowned Muir Woods, where mighty redwoods can be viewed, a good stop along the way, with a great cafe and bookstore as well. We love our area and enjoy sharing it. We can advise on hikes and restaurants or leave you to your own adventures.
Our neighborhood is quiet, friendly, full of interesting people. A fine ceramicist specializing in porcelain lives across the street and is glad to show her work. Two fishermen live on the block as well as a famous surfboard shaper. Across the way is a well-known artist and en plein air painter, who also has a gallery downtown.
  • Book Quail Cottage if you love: - Easy access to all of the natural beauty between Stinson and Tomales Point - A cozy, clean, and comfortable den in a quiet, out of the way setting - A throwback to the classic AirBnB experience; a home away from home complete with host touches that allow immediate access to the community your visiting. 10/10 would go back.

  • A magical retreat filled with amazing touches and located in quiet, natural, and secluded environs. I’ll definitely be back!

    Claudia2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • All the wonderful details of Quail House and the environs made our stay absolutely lovely. We enjoyed the town of Bolinas and walking the streets all around town and hiking the Palomarin trail nearby. Judith paid attention to every detail in the cottage, making us feel so well cared for. We will be back!

    Amy2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Judith’s house is great! The accommodations are really comfortable and the house has everything you need. They were great hosts - responsive and easy to communicate with.

    Phebe2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Quail cottage is set in a beautiful native garden which is very peaceful. The cottage is very tastefully furnished and Judith left fresh fruit, bagels, eggs and chocolate to welcome us. The cottage also has a good selection of books on the area and a packet filled with lots of useful information. The kitchen is well stocked with staples and we enjoyed steel cut oats and fresh coffee each morning for breakfast. In the evenings we walked into the town of Bolinas for dinner. Quail cottage is perfect for a couple seeking a quiet getaway by the coast and I have no hesitation in recommending it highly. Thank you, Judith!

    Margaret2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible in every way...

    Angela2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Quail House is a terrific place to spend a few days in Bolinas, about halfway between Agate Beach with its neat tidepools and Bolinas Beach with its gentle breakers. Better yet, it sits in the middle of an incredible native plant garden and nursery. You can buy some native plant seeds and one of Judith's botany or foraging books. What a treat. I stayed with my two daughters and they were so enchanted by the big garden and the opportunity to explore and build fairy houses. The kitchen is well-appointed, the bathroom is spacious and the bathtub big enough for two. The bed is very comfortable and its easy to heat the cottage as well, when nights get chilly. Quality and comfort and an authentic Bolinas experience will bring travelers closer to this very special community. We will definitely visit again soon!

    Noah2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Judith is a great host. Very thoughtful with a lot of little extra touches. I had a flight delay so I didn't meet Judith directly but her communication was great. She also wrote a really nice guide to the area we were able to use as well as having multiple books available. Bolinas is super cool. My wife and I did some paddleboarding in the lagoon and the beach which is next to the lagoon and the small downtown. Bolinas is great if you're into hippies, surfing, and nature. It's a small town. You've got 2 restaurants in town with both not open every night. If you're looking for a home base in the area for exploring, it's a little remote. If you're looking for a place to surf and experience a true hippie vibe, this is the place. The cottage is a car ride to downtown and the beaches. Parking can be a little challenging. You may need to park and walk a bit to the beach or if you have a bike, it's a nice hilly ride. Judith, thanks for the stay in your wonderful cottage.

  • Thank you for opening up your space to us! The attention to detail and thoughtfulness behind each item was greatly appreciated. It was a much needed relaxing end to our vacation and the perfect spot to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you!!

  • This is a fantastic find! Everything was perfect. It was a magical destination and over-all experience. Definitely recommend.

    Zoe2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a thoughtfully designed and zen little bungalow. It's truly private! I came for a quick solo getaway for about 36 hours and it was exactly what I needed. Every door you open and every corner you turn, there is a little delightful surprise waiting for you Margaux thought of literally EVERYTHING you could ever want for a mini spa retreat and had it available with the cutest little instructions thoughtfully placed. The soaking tub was my fav part - I'll definitely be back!

    Anayo2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great privacy, beautiful views, and incredible location. The best bang for your buck.

    Michael2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Margaux’s Stinson Zen Den is one of a kind. We felt like we spent a weekend in Japan, taking baths, wearing our kimonos and drinking tea overlooking the ocean. It feels hidden but is a 2 min walk to the Main Street and the town’s 3 restaurants, maybe 5 mins to the beach. We hope to be back soon!

    Alex2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Margaux’s is exactly as described and it is amazing. Absolutely gorgeous.

    Cely2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here on a leap day weekend trip from San Francisco and really enjoyed this little oasis. The indoor/outdoor bathroom was my favorite part- awesome to use the rain shower head while looking out at the beautiful garden. Good location, unique abode, great service from Margaux!

    Alison2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We Loved this place so much! The room is perfect. Small, but it has everything that you could possibly need. The view of the beach is amazing and they have a private walkway that gets you to the beach and restaurants in minutes! We will be coming back for sure!

One block from ocean views in a quirky, foggy little beach town. This casual and cozy shack is a 15-20 minute walk to the beach and downtown Bolinas' restaurants, saloon, and shops. Mellow surfing for kids and adults. Excellent fishing from the beach or dock. A short drive to Point Reyes National Seashore. Hike or run Mt Tamalpais's 60 miles of scenic trails. The Elm Surf Shack cozily handles six adults. There are 2 rollaway twin beds for children or extra guests when necessary.
Two bedrooms with full bath and laundry room on the first floor. Living room with dining area, full kitchen and sliding glass doors that open onto deck upstairs. Outdoor hot shower for after the beach right outside the laundry room.
Quiet neighborhood, one mile walk down to Brighton Beach. Or Agate beach the other direction on Elm. Mesa Park less then a mile away with a skate park, swings, climbing structures, basketball court and baseball .
  • We had so much fun staying at your surf shack. Bolinas is wonderful and so is your home.

    Amy2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a women's weekend and Katie's place was perfect for our needs. Close to town and the beach, a great kitchen, and comfortable sleeping. Katie responds quickly over text, and was kind and helpful during our stay.

    Lauren2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Bolinas is such a gem for a relaxing weekend. Katie’s place is a tiny comfy house close the ocean view. We had a great time!

  • Sweet spot, warm and cozy. Lovely deck to watch the sun rise and set from.

    Kate2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the surf shack was awesome. Super cozy, comfy beds, plenty of heat, and that outdoor hot shower was awesome We walked our surfboards down to the beach to surf, about a 15 minute walk and pretty easy. Kitchen fully stocked, great balcony off the kitchen for eating if it's nice. The WiFi wasn't working well, but I think that's partly because of the slow connection in Bolinas, so don't depend on the Internet! My T-mobile service had 1 bar so I could only send texts, but my friend's Verizon service was working fine. A great place to stay in Bolinas!

    Dylan2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time in the Surf Shack! It worked very well for a snug family get-together! Thank you, Katherine

    Josie2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of four rung in 2020 at the Surf Shack and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing, convenient accommodations. We took advantage of the great location for day trips over to Point Reyes National Seashore and Muir Woods, and there's a lot more to see and do in the area. We enjoyed walking in Bolinas, watching the surfers and strolling on the beaches, in particular Duxbury Reef at low tide. Laundry equipment at the airbnb came in handy because we'd been traveling for a while before arriving in Bolinas. Thank you, Katie!

    Thomas2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent spot in Bolinas, perfect for our family of 4. Beds were really comfortable and the shower super nice. Easy to get to the beach, and it also has a great porch for lunch in the sun. We had a great time here.

A 10 minute walk to the beach and beautiful ocean views. The most romantic cottage in Bolinas with fireplace and private redwood hot tub, outdoor shower with hot and cold water running to it and old fashioned wood-burning fireplace insert :)
I love grabbing my cup of tea in the morning and heading up to the top of the hill behind the house to the upper deck where I sit and watch the surf roll in while the morning fog rolls out. At night, watching the moon rise over the lights of San Francisco on a clear night is quite a sight. I also love sitting in the hot tub while sipping wine and gazing at the millions of stars and the milky way--absolutely incredible. After enjoying the hot tub on a cold night, coming indoors to a roaring, crackling fire is such a treat. I hope you will not only enjoy these things, but create your own amazing memories during your stay.
We chose Bolinas because it as private as a beach town in California could be. With only 750 homes total, off-season you often have the beach completely to yourself (and a few diehard surfers of course). Bolinas is one of California's best kept secrets and like no other place in the world. There is one restaurant called "The Coast Cafe", one bar called "Smileys" and two grocery stores. For produce, I suggest the Co-op located behind the community center & for meat, The Bolinas General Store has Niman Ranch beef.
  • Amazing view, location and just a super cute place. Nice beds and a really nice atmosphere. The view of the ocean is just breathtaking and we could sit there all day long. Would definitely come back again.

    Anders2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time staying at Chucks place and we LOVED it. We will definitely be back!

    Katherine2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay here! Such a special place in a special part of the Northern California coast. We will definitely be back to enjoy the views from the top deck and the hot tub. Thanks Chuck!

    Shannon2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck's cottage is quaint and charming in a great location that's just a 5 minute walk to the beach, with a wonderfully unique redwood hot tub that was amazing to soak in both early morning watching the sun rise and late night under the clear starry sky. The bed was small but comfy, and the space heaters + fireplace warmed the place right up! Was only a short drive to Alamere Falls trailhead and overall a great option to go off the grid for the weekend.

    Daryn2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cottage in a great location. Best hottub ever!!

    Kirsten2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific place to stay. Highly recommend it for a getaway to Bolinas.

    Joe2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Chuck’s cabin was the perfect place for my husband’s weekend getaway. It’s so quaint and charming and cozy. We LOVED using the fireplace, the view of the ocean from the upper deck was absolutely breathtaking, and we lovedddd using the hot tub outside!!

    Annie2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a nice, cozy cottage. There's a great place to sit out and watch the ocean, and the hot tub is a nice touch. It's small, with a single restroom, so smaller groups will be better. It has a lot of furniture for such a small space. The deck is nice.

Looking for a quiet retreat? In a little more than an hour's drive from San Francisco, you have arrived at this home nestled in nature where you can truly get away and relax. Bolinas and its beach are just a five- to ten-minute walk away.
This is an ideal spot for one or two people. A place to completely unwind. A retreat in nature surrounded by the sounds of birds and the ocean. A great place to read a book! Please note: two-adult maximum occupancy—we are unable to accommodate any more than two. Not suitable for children. No pets. No smoking anywhere on the property, inside or out. Due to the area-wide, high-fire danger: no fires of any kind; no grilling. Bring your slippers or other cozy foot coverings—we are a shoes-free home.
Bolinas is a community made up of all sorts of people: artists; surfers; writers; crafts people; farmers and more; many of whom are long-time residents. Bolinas provides a different pace whether for those who are visiting or for those who make Bolinas their year-round home. It is a place where one can get away from it all. The town has a store that stocks sundry items as well as offering a meat and fish counter where sandwiches can be procured as well. Additionally, there is a health food store located directly behind the public library. There, too, one can find fruits and vegetables along with a range of other products. There are two restaurants in town: Coast Café, serving lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Open Tuesdays through Sundays. They also run a coffee kiosk open throughout the day. Eleven Wine Bar Bistro, serving lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Dinner reservations are recommended. Open Thursdays through Sundays. Smiley's Saloon is located directly across the street from the general store on Wharf Road. There are a couple of surf shops that rent out wet suits and surfboards as well. Point Reyes Station, Olema, Inverness and other points north are a short drive, depending on traffic. The community of Stinson Beach, to the South, is about a 15-minute drive away. There you will find restaurants and surf shops, among other things. The Bolinas Museum has a wonderful archival room that covers the history of Bolinas and neighboring communities. There are exhibits in the main rooms of the museum; these warrant a visit. Museum hours are: Friday, 1:00 - 5:00 PM; Saturday, noon - 5:00 PM; Sunday, noon - 5:00 PM. Bolinas is a great community from which to make forays farther afield. Ultimately, the best thing about the Bolinas area is the surrounding nature. What a way to relax and unwind. Please refer to the house manual for more details.
  • Great place, great location, great hosts. What more could you ask for. The house has everything you need. We enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing 2 nights. We hiked, spent time at the beach and enjoyed the town of Bolinas.

  • This is a gorgeous one bedroom with a large living room and kitchen that’s very quiet and cozy, nestled in the woods. It’s easy to walk to the town, beaches, and drive to nearby hiking trails. The space was immaculate, perfectly appointed, with fresh cut flowers that my wife and I appreciated to celebrate our anniversary. The bathroom is also gorgeous, recently renovated with a river rock floor.

    Scott2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Davis’s Place was perfect in every way! Very clean, nicely furnished, great Kitchen, beautiful grounds, comfy bed and couch, nice touches like vases of flowers in several rooms. Good communication and easy check in. I highly recommend staying here. Thank you David!

  • We love getting away from the city for a long weekend, and this spot in Bolinas was perfect. Walking distance to town and the beach, yet nestled in the woods with privacy and quiet solitude. The kitchen had all the essentials, the entire home was incredibly clean, and the skylight shower was wonderful after a day out on the water. David was extremely responsive and communicative. Definitely one of my best Airbnb experiences to date.

Three houses from the sand, in a magical “bungalow” with a view of the ocean in beautiful Stinson Beach, completely separate from the main house. The canvas (uninsulated) bungalow is steps from the ocean, has electricity & WiFi. A queen bed, dresser, table, antique lamp and space heater. The restroom is not located in the bungalow, it is at back of the main house -guest use only.A friendly yellow lab lives on the property. In the winter months it can be chilly. This is a NO SMOKING Property.
Please read the entire description. We have implemented a new cleaning policy due to Covid 19. We also REQUIRE masks to be worn on the property and ask that you wear them at all times when on our street. All linens are washed between guests and all surfaces will be wiped down with Clorox/Lysol products. We have taken the table cloths off the tables. We will leave bottles of water and all breakfast serving items will be disposable. As much as this is hard for us -we very much look out for the environment it is for all of our safety. If you are looking for a fancy hotel this is not the place for you. The walls are canvas and it can be chilly in the winter. Please come prepared. (There is an electric blanket and warm blankets). This is more of a glamping space in a beautiful garden where you can hear the ocean. It is peaceful and beautiful and we prefer guests who enjoy nature and appreciate it's beauty. Our family lives on the property full time and may be around during your stay. We will do our best to give you privacy, but we do live here. You will have access to a private restroom in the house. Access to this bathroom is from the yard and is for guests only. You will need to walk from the bungalow through the yard to the bathroom. There is no bathroom in the bungalow. I will provide a light breakfast of yogurt, homemade granola, and coffee each morning.
We are an easy walk to the town of Stinson beach. 4 great restaurants (this varies based on time of year), shops, a market, and more. We are just steps to the beach.
  • Zoe offers a lovely backyard space with a view, excellent breakfast and communication, and a location right on the beach that's hard to beat! Near event spaces, cafes, and hiking trails. It's a simple space, beautiful & rustic canvas abode within a scenic succulent garden next to the house. Not for folks looking to stay indoors the whole time, but a five-star review from us nature-loving folks!

  • Such a huge pleasure staying here. No complaints, all appreciation for the professionalism and hospitality. This place is a GEM :)

    Noe2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding hospitality with home made granola in the morning! That special touch that Zoe offers! Listening to the sound to the ocean from the moment you go to sleep to the moment you wake is heavenly! Would absolute recommend staying here.

  • Zoe and her husband were both super accommodating and respectful of my privacy. The bungalow was beautiful and just the right amount of cozy! The location couldn’t be better, and the noise of the waves can be heard very clearly from the bed! I will definitely be returning to share the space with close family and friends!

    Sam2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is magical and I can’t wait to come back. Walking distance to the adorable town of Stinson Beach. Gorgeous drive, close to lots of amazing hikes, comfy and warm bed (even though it got down to 41!) If you like camping/cabin vibe, this is your jam. Zoe’s whole property is magical.

    Theresa2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at the bungalow, especially being steps away from the beach to watch the sunset, and hearing the ocean from bed. The place was simple and cozy yet had everything we needed, which is just what we were looking for. I was a big fan of the bed with electric blanket, and I had an incredible night's sleep. Zoe was a very welcoming and communicative host. Thanks for the great night!

    Amy2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • The location truly can’t be beat - you can see and hear the ocean from the bed. This was my first time to Stinson beach with my boyfriend and we both fell in love. I loved the bungalow setting with thoughtful touches (she prepared breakfast in the morning that was homemade and delicious). The outdoor shower is epic. Just a quick walk away from the cute town of Stinson. Will absolutely come back and stay here!

    Christine2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful stay! Wish it could have been longer! How to come back when her garden is blooming because I bet its outstandingly beautiful! Super close to the beach! I loved sleeping to the sound of the waves. And although it was Feb, Zoe had it set up to be plenty warm with thick, cozy blankets as well as a heated blanket and a heater! Definitely will be back!

Light filled 2 story studio, 400 sq ft total, your own sunporch, and shared backyard in trees. Our 'Birdhouse' ( your neighbors in the trees are, well, birds!) is part of a 4 cottages co-housing community, tucked against our steep forest acreage for forest-bathing, creek magic. Simple, very comfortable basic furnishings, space heater, comforters, and a small but full kitchen ( 4 gasburners , toaster oven, frig) with minimal kitchenware ( more from the farmhouse vegetarian kitchen)
Rustic, 'back to the 70's, sanctuary space. This cul-de-sac 'property' was, and wants to be , a co-housing cooperative. Several other cottages with friendly neighbors in them, are nearby but on different levels of the hillside. You will have sound and view privacy. Due to the nature of our rustic property and the general character of this valley, our half a mile country road is windy, one lane, and county maintained paved. GPS may take you to general vicinity, but due to relationships with neighbors , we require you text us privately with an ETA once in transit, NOT RELY ON GPS OR E-MAPS, and CALL when you turn onto our road, so that we may make your arrival stressfree for all. Our parking area/driveway is gravel, and we will direct you to your parkingspot. If you drive a truck or van, please describe and ask ahead! We only have room for 1 sedan, wagon, or small SUV per listing. Add'l cars can park downtown in my village, a 0.7 miles drive , 10 min walk. Also please understand that this is a small working ranch, and thus you will see country-living types of projects near the driveways in communal areas. Your rental is being kept very clean and tidy by host.
small village nestled between bohemian village Fairfax, and the natural wonders of Pt Reyes National Seashore. Forest Knolls is rustic to the point of funky. We even have a historic saloon, Janis Joplin's old stomping grounds, and Jerry Garcia chose a facility on our road to leave his body. Carlos Santana lived and practiced on our road, and Kate Wolf composed some of her lovely folk songs right next door to us. Our land still rings with the idealism , love and peace of the 70's, and you will find it catches you! Your patronage helps us keep this land and home in that spirit for generations to come...this is land held in trust, not a capitalist venture.
  • *COVID NOTE* 1. Everything was sanitized. Hand sanitizer and hand/dish soap was provided. 2. Strong and reliable WiFi available for working. 3. Local grocery stores open. *** Not only is Saskia one of the best hostesses I’ve encountered but this is more than a stay; this is an experience. It’s incredibly peaceful here. Unlike anywhere I’ve visited in this area. When I say peaceful I mean you can hear the wings of birds and it smells like the land before time. The Birdhouse is quaint, cozy and backs up into an untouched forest. You can hear the birds in the morning and the creek at night. My time there was spent sun napping on the porch, hiking in the woods, gardening, and howling at 8p to honor first responders. Saskia was extremely communicative, generous with her time, offered tips for local hikes, and the nearest local groceries still open for business. She’s also hilarious and makes for a great conversationalist at a minimum 6ft distance. The dogs on her property are her rescues and very friendly. Can’t say enough good things about this property and Saskia as a host. Highly recommend 10 out of 5 stars.

    Alma2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at Saskia’s place with our small dog for the weekend and it was just what we were looking for. It’s a quiet one room cabin with a loft nestled in the trees, rural enough to feel like you’re getting away but still close to excellent hiking and cute small towns. If you’re looking for a place to recharge I can’t recommend it enough. Saskia was nice enough to give us tips on local spots we could take our pup for hikes which was much appreciated.

    Rachel2020-02-17T00:00:00Z

Access by trail to the property or ascend meandering stairs -baggage can go by baggage tram 1/2 way -suggests maximum health benefits. Smoking cigarettes is an unwelcome hazard on the mountain; the parking lot below allows. To fully enjoy the opportunity of being in this piece of paradise, 16 minutes from the Golden Gate Toll Plaza, be prepared to energetically relax. Enjoy chlorine and fluoride free water in our recently repaired hot tub, breathe deep of pollution free air while viewing mountain star visibility - all here for your pleasure and appreciation. Seeing is believing. An invigorating hike to cutesy downtown Mill Valley, or to the iconic Muir Woods might be a bucket list achievement or you might prefer a rental vehicle if you don’t want to walk a mile and a quarter to main thorough fare Miller Ave., for public transportation. Inevitably you will want to stay longer than you have booked. Happy trails. Welcome.
We have a fine and private place and the neighbors do too. We are quite when we return in the late hours. We do not leave debris in anyway in the parking lot. If parking is tight we are most careful to stay away from others’ cars. Neighbors do not enjoy Airbnb guests as much as we do. Interact with neighbors only when invited. All arrival arrangements should be previously established by host and guests.
  • This place is quirky, enchanting, and cozy - a portal to another world, tucked away in moss, mist, and ferns. I wish that I could have stayed longer (forever?) and I wish that I could have gotten a chance to socialise with Faustin and the other tenants, but due to the surrounding circumstances (covid 19), I forced myself to keep to myself and focus on hiking and relaxing in my room. If you’re looking for a Four Seasons-at-home experience, this might not be for you. But if you’re open to an out-of-the-box adventure of magic and rejuvenation, then this can’t be beat - especially at such an affordable price. Faustin, if you’ll have me, I’ll be back as soon as California has overcome covid-19 and I can actually relax and swap stories and enjoy my experience to the fullest.

  • Breathe it in. Those are redwood fumes. Faustin hosts a lovely AirBNB and she's quite the storyteller. Enjoy it as I did.

  • The cosy room dappled with shadows from the surrounding trees offers a unique environment to explore the redwoods & Mill Valley has plenty to offer in the way of cafes & shops. It’s my second stay here & I would like to return.

  • Faustin is a warm welcoming host who opened up her wonderful, fascinating home to me. The bed was really comfy, and the location is stunning. Wish I could have stayed longer.

    Nick2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • A very unique place surrounded by old growth redwoods. Be ready for a very different experience than most other places offer. Come with and open mind and be ready to breath in the fresh mountain air.
