  • At Claire cute annex, you can expect nothing but perfection. Claire is a great host and nothing was too much trouble. It was exactly where we wanted to be.The place was spotlessly clean, cosy and the views were wonderful. We will return. Highly recommended

  • The annex is so beautiful and amazing furnished! Claire is such a thoughtful host, alongside her husband - there was chocolate buttons left for us along side crumpets, milk, pastries ect. The annex was lovely a private, so we could have our alone time. I cannot not emphasise how lovely this was! We was also able to stay longer as there was no one staying there the next night which allowed us to look around Holmfirth. Would 1000% recommend this lovely place to anyone! Thank you so much - chloe and reef x

  • A great place for a stay in Holmfirth and the surrounding area. A fantastic view across the fields of the Holme valley. We only had a short stay but would happily go back for longer. Claire was a great host, she welcomed us and responded quickly to queries, but otherwise left us to our own devices.

    Chris2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place just 5 min walk from central Holmfirth. Amazing views, as well!

  • Very nice stay Lovely apartment

    Ian2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Claire is an excellent host! She was incredibly friendly and helped us with all our requests. Communication was superb! This gorgeous place is a lot more spacious than you think. Claire is so generous and left out pastries, cereal bars, cereal boxes, a small smoothie for our young one and much more! We loved our stay and we'd definitely come back, next time we're in Holmfirth. Thank you so much for having us. Top tip: If you're not an experienced driver / Parker, you're best to park road side, but, if you can handle it, the drive is very convenient and so close to the entrance! Thanks again Claire. This really was one of our best Airbnb stays.

  • I booked this lovely studio pretty much last minute as I needed to self-isolate for a week prior to some hospital treatment (I wasn’t infectious!) The check in procedure was very straight forward and once inside the studio I was surprised at how delightful it was! it was very clean with some lovely touches, I was able to cook, work and even have breakfast and lunch outside the studio thanks to some wonderful bi-fold doors! The bathroom is great with a fab powerful and hot shower and the kitchen area has sufficient storage for food (if you decide to cook!) and there is a good mid-sized fridge freezer... The bedroom has a TV on the wall and the wifi was very good... The views from the bedroom are outstanding, I just wanted to get my boots on and head out, unfortunately that wasn’t possible this time, but I will be back to do the walks and sample the array of bars and restaurants that Holmfirth has to offer! Finally a word about the hosts, Karen & Kevin, although we could only chat from a distance it was apparent that they are genuinely nice people and in different circumstances I’m sure a social glass of wine would have been apt! Thoroughly recommended!!!

  • For the experience of a wonderfully maintained old-style Yorkshire cottage surrounded by stunning scenery, everything you could hope for is here. Between the knowledgeable host and friendly farm animals, we were made to feel right at home and provided with everything that we needed. There are plenty of activities in and around the property, and tons of gorgeous public footpaths to explore. Heath was incredibly helpful whenever we needed him and always quick to communicate. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend to anybody. A perfect trip guaranteed!

    Patrick2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • We found Heath’s place so comfortable and relaxing. It was just what we needed when all around was in turmoil. Highly recommended. We really want to go back soon.

  • The most charming house in a picturesque location!

    Chris2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is quirky with lots of character and history in a beautiful location. I had a wonderful stay here. Heath is fantastic and very helpful, I’d highly recommend this cottage

    Lizzie2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Heath was a fantastic host! From the moment of booking we were contacted within the hour with details of checking in and directions etc. Heath kept in contact each step of the way, this was our first airbnb stay, so didn't know what to expect, but Heath pulled out all the stops to make our night away a pleasure. The cottage is a little hidden gem and ultra cosy! We had just the one nights stay and felt like it was a home away from home, everything clean and sparkling. We specifically loved the artwork throughout the house, along with an array of books and games that kept us entertained on a dark winters night. Everything was perfect, a testament to a good host. We hope to stay again in the future! Ashley and Katie

  • What a find. A very quirky, rustic place of tranquility. A very warm and cosy place in spite of the wind and some rain. Everything you need ( in fact more than enough Dvds, games and books ) . Some great walks locally and 2 great pubs. I ate at the Red Lion which was cosy, friendly and good pub food.

Set just above Holmfirth, this uniquely designed apartment gives you all the benefits of a house in an easy to manage apartment space. With off road parking and access to Yorkshire and the surrounding counties, it makes the perfect choice for both business commuters and holidaymakers alike. “Hill Top Apartment” is based on two guests in the main bedroom on a double bed. A further two can be accommodated in the living area on the double sofa bed. There is also the option of a further single pull-put bed, which can be set up alongside the double bed in the master bedroom (the extra guests are charged per person, per night). The house has one large family bathroom. We are dog-friendly! We only ask that pooches don’t venture into the master bedroom:) We do have clean dog beds available to you if you need them, though; just let us know:) If you’re cyclists, then there is also the option of a secure storage space downstairs for bikes.
Sitting in the heart of the breath-taking Holme Valley, this picture-postcard town is popular with walkers, cyclists and wildlife lovers alike. Holmfirth is the renowned location of the TV classic Last of the Summer Wine, and the acclaimed live music venue, The Picturedrome, a century-old picture house that stages touring bands throughout the year.
  • A lovely little apartment on a quiet estate. We went for a week of climbing which was unfortunately cut short due to the Corona virus outbreak, however we will certainly be returning. Everything was clean and tidy, a cosy place without feeling too small. Great for if you have a dog, accessible for climbing (just over 30mins to Stanage). Well worth the price, would thoroughly recommend :)

NHS staff see below for details. Mallard is a traditional underdwelling with wonderful original features including beams and barrelled ceilings. It is tucked away high above the river, reached directly by a path and has a lovely view from its own garden to the sheltered woodland beyond. The private hot-tub is available for an additional cost. Exclusive use of the owners private heated indoor swimming pool, spa bath and sauna is also available for an additional charge, subject to availability.
Mallard is in a quiet conservation area and is only suitable for people who are willing to be respectful of the peaceful nature of the setting. Mallard has both a small kitchen and small separate dining room with a unique barelled ceiling. It is a spacious cottage for two adults with a large sitting room and bedroom with delightful views over the garden and beyond. The hot tub (optional charges apply see below) has a wonderful view out over the garden to the countryside beyond. The garden is very quiet, the only noise is from the river rushing far below when it is in full flood. Because it is so quiet, noise carries easily, so the cottage is only suitable for people who are prepared to respect the quiet conservation area and keep it quiet. We have had complaints from the neighbours on the main road that some guests have been very noisy too late at night. Guests guilty of this in future will be asked to leave immediately. The master bedroom is very spacious and has a super king size bed (6') and an en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is very, very small and is accessed through the master bedroom, so it was originally intended to be a dressing room or study. There is just room for a small bed and bedside table as you can see in the photos, there is no storage space. It is suitable for a child, or two small children, or an adult who is good friends and willing to share the dressing, storage space & en-suite with the occupant/s of the master bedroom. Swimming pool There is also the option (additional charges apply) for exclusive use of the owners private indoor swimming pool. The pool is heated to 32 degrees Celsius. It is 8mx5m (26’3”x16’5”) and has a 2m deep end. The swimming pool is located in a converted barn and has views out over the owners field to the Peak District moors beyond. In the swimming pool room there is also an indoor spa bath. In the adjacent changing room there is also a sauna - if guests hire the pool, both are also available for £3 each for 30 minutes. Guests of Your Yorkshire Time - Holmfirth Hot-tub Heaven (Eider, Mallard, Shelduck & Teal) can book the pool for their exclusive use for 75 minutes for the discounted rate of £30, or £60 for two hours 30 minutes. The swimming pool is situated at your hosts own home, 8 miles south of Holmfirth. The drive from Holmfirth to the swimming pool provides spectacular views of the Peak District. There are separate house rules for the swimming pool. Use of the pool is subject to availability. Please book early to avoid disappointment. To do so send an Airbnb message with your preferred time/s and dates.
Holmfirth is a quirky village, as woderfully showcased in the TV series Last of the Summer Wine. It is ideal for hikers and cyclists, but also for people who want to wander its quaint cobbled streets and enjoy the market and numerous shops, pubs and restaurants and other attractions. There is also a live music venue - the Picturedrome. The centre of the village is a ten minute walk down hill from the cottage. The walks can be accessed right from the door. Holme Moss with its spectacular views is the steepest climb on the Yorkshire section of the Tour de France and is a short cyle ride / drive away. The river running through the village always has lots of ducks to feed and there is the famous annual Holmfirth Duck race and many annual festivals including the Festival of Folk, the Arts Festival and the Food and Drink Festival.
  • We had an amazing week at the cottage. Angela was an absolutely fantastic host, she left us to it, but was always on hand to answer questions and have a chat. From the moment we stepped in the cottage we loved it, as others have said the hamper is exceptional, I don't think I have ever seen such a thoughtful welcoming gift, along with homemade cakes. The cottage itself is exactly as described, infact it was bigger than I was expecting ('small' in the Peak District is different to 'small' in London). The kitchen had everything we needed in it to cook our meals, the sofa was comfy with plenty of blankets. Upstairs, the bed was really comfortable, I had the best night's sleep there (helped by the fact I could kick my other half into the small second room if he was snoring!) The hot tub was the icing on the cake, I made use of it every day and it was helpful having plastic cups available so we could enjoy a glass of bubbly at the end of a long day's walking. Most importantly, the cottage is SILENT at night, just bliss. The cottage is really well located, 10 min walk to Holmfirth, but more importantly walking trials could be reached from the garden, by just popping across the river. We didn't need to use our car at all. The price was really reasonable as well! I would highly recommend this cottage.

  • We loved our stay at Mallard Cottage. The lovely village of Holmfirth is a short walk away, and we enjoyed some long scenic walks into the surrounding countryside. The cottage was well equipped, perfectly clean and tidy and Angela's finishing touches (and yummy cake!) were brilliant. Highly recommended!

    Holmfirth, United Kingdom

No. 18, Holmfirth is a cosy, quirky cottage - three minutes walk to the centre of Holmfirth. It's located at the top of a steep road, but benefits from beautiful views from the top (and the H3 bus runs up every hour!) Perfectly located for the Picturedrome, bars, restaurants, shops and supermarkets. Holmfirth Vineyard is only a short drive away. Cannon Hall Farm and Yorkshire Sculpture Park are about 20 minutes away. Holmfirth also benefits from many loyal fans of Last of the Summer Wine.
Location: At the top of Cooper Lane, just 3 minutes from the centre of Holmfirth. Ideal if you’re visiting the Picturedrome. Cooper Lane is quite steep but benefits from the local bus (H3) running from the bus station in the centre of Holmfirth hourly from 9.25 until 16.25. After this time, if you don’t feel Ike walking back up, taxis are available (approx. £3). You could always take the scenic route through Victoria Park. From No.18, it’s a lovely walk starting half way down Cooper Lane! Outside: Bench to enjoy your morning coffee Patio area to the side of the house with table and chairs Parking on the road to the side of No.18 Inside: Wi-fi, TV, Amazon Fire Stick, DAB Radio Storage heaters Double bed Futon for a small guest (please let us know if you’d like this making up, in advance of your stay) Table top combination microwave oven Hob, fridge and washer Nespresso machine, kettle and toaster Bath and shower, with toiletries and towels Hairdryer and iron The space: Built c1900, No.18 is small but perfectly formed! The living room is cosy and traditional with a gas fire for those cooler nights. It has a table and chairs, suitable for a laptop. WiFi is free to use and the TV includes an Amazon Fire Stick. The kitchen is compact and includes a fridge, washer, combination microwave oven and hob. There is also a Nespresso coffee machine. No.18 has a spacious and bright bedroom with en suite bathroom, which boasts a bath and electric shower. In the bedroom there is also a futon which is ideal for a small guest or relaxing with a book. If you’d like this making up, please let me know before your stay. Your stay will be complimented with a welcome pack, which will include tea and coffee and some ‘essential’ Yorkshire extras. We include hair dryer, iron, towels, hand soap, shampoo, shower gel and face wipes! Extra bedding is also available upon request to ensure your stay is comfortable. Luggage drop off before/after your stay can be arranged but only with prior notice.
No.18 is a few minutes walk to Holmfirth. You can walk down by road or take a right (half way down Cooper Lane) through Victoria Park, taking in the stunning view. Holmfirth is buzzing with bars and restaurants. Try Lou and Joe’s, Y Bar or Harvey’s for yummy food! The Fair Trader shop, opposite Bloc (excellent breakfast), is well worth a visit too, I’ve often come out if there a few £s lighter! Holmfirth also has a Sainsbury’s Local, Co-Op and, a short drive away, Lidl and Aldi.
  • Brilliant spot for Holmfirth (and the vineyard!). Joanne couldn’t have done enough for us, from early check in to lovely little touches, she has literally thought of everything. Would highly, highly recommend.

  • Joanne is a great host who has a special house in Holmfirth. We have just returned from our second stay and would highly recommend the house for its location, how clean it is and the little touches you keep finding during your stay. Communication with Joanne was as easy as it had been when we stayed the first time. We will definitely return but in the summer next time.

Loved the decor and it was sparkly clean. Excellent communication with the host - would return if in the area again.

  • What a lovely apartment. I stayed here for three weeks and it was a perfect get away. It’s as stylish, comfy and clean as it looks in the photos. Local amenities are super convenient, and the surrounding areas are easily accessible by car. Jemma is also a fantastic host. Always responding to whatever query, or request punctually. Next time I’m in the area, I very much look forward to staying again.

This Holiday House is set in the spectacular Yorkshire countryside in the beautiful town of Holmfirth. An impeccably finished cosy 200 year old house full of character. Ideal for cyclists, walkers, families or for a simple relaxing weekend away from it all. Convenient for local amenities (local Coop and town centre 5 mins) yet within easy distance of great walks and amazing countryside.
A modestly sized house but brimful of character. Two staircases, vaulted ceilings in the kitchen and dining room. Recently updated heating, lighting and redecorated throughout.
The town is full of coffee shops, restaurants, pubs, individual gift shops and fashionable clothes shops. Many walks and cycle routes accessible from the house.
  • This is a great cottage to stay. Well fitted out cottage (2 stair cases - which can confuse you). All very clean and everything you need, including washing machine and coffee machine. Cooked our selves a good breakfast each day before exploring Holmfirth (just 5 minutes down the hill). Many place to eat in town with a variety of cuisine.

Our lovely Bunker is situated 3 minutes walk to the centre of Holmfirth and the Picturedrome. Built in our garden, this hideaway serves as accommodation for our large family to use when visiting. It has a large open plan kitchen/lounge diner with a sofa bed, one double bedroom, an office area, bathroom and a utility room housing the laundry facilities. It has underfloor heating and is double glazed. There is a dedicated parking space on our drive and a deck to sit on, in good weather.
The Bunker is delightfully private and self contained but only a stones throw from the centre of Holmfirth. Equally it is just a few minutes walk to the hills that made Holmfirth popular in "The Last of the Summer Wine" tv show.
We are located close to the centre of the lively and friendly town of Holmfirth. All the local amenities are conveniently available within walking distance. Whether you are here for shopping and sight-seeing; the food, music or art festivals; a live-music gig at the Picturedrome; or to enjoy a night out in one of the many pubs and restuarants, you will be able to leave the car safely parked and set off on foot down the hill to town . Please note that South Lane is steep but there is an easier shingle path up our garden to The Bunker. Our hens are free range so don't be surprised to find one trotting up the path with you. They may even lay you an egg for breakfast! Holmfirth is an ideal base or stop-over point for walking, motorcycling/cycling and touring holidays. It lies in the picturesque Holme Valley and is close to the Peak District National Park. We have many wonderful cycling roads in fact 'The Tour de France' route came through here before attacking the formidable climb up Holme Moss in 2014. There is a doctors surgery, council owned public gym and swimming pool less than 15 minutes walk away.
  • Absolutely beautiful little retreat. A home away from home, the bed is super comfortable, the light and being surrounded by nature is wonderful. Diana is a brilliant host, she really helped me out and cared in a time of crisis.

  • Di is an amazing host, who goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome. The Bunker is an incredible place, which is so comfortable and quiet. It’s spotlessly clean too! This is a single bedroom in addition to double bedroom available as listed separately. All house/location details are the same as double bedroom, other than room itself of course. Single is at cheaper rate. Within Holmfirth district but located 3 miles from Holmfirth centre; in a friendly and quaint village. 10 minutes from Huddersfield, commutable to Greater Manchester, Wakefield, Calderdale, Kirklees etc, as quite centrally located.
Single room available, 1 guest at one time (double room also available). Modern cottage, with traditional features such as exposed beams, open fire with log burning stove, mullion windows, low ceilings and cosy and comfortable feel. English vintage and ethnically inspired decor, nuanced with worldwide artefacts and shabby chic touches in keeping with cottage ambience. Clean, tidy and welcoming property in the heart of a quaint village with all local amenities in close walking distance and a few metres from a lovely church. Host lives in property but often out or away and is friendly and welcoming:) Peaceful environment, ideal for a break or as a short stop en route. Good quality mattresses and guaranteed clean bedding ensures a tranquil night's sleep.
My place is close to Holmfirth tourist area, cafes, restaurants, library, wine bar, village shops, bus stop. Local walks, reservoirs and picturesque countryside nearby. Friendly community, peaceful village yet not secluded or cut off from civilisation! Nearby town is Huddersfield, central location to get to a number of big cities and motorways in the region. Commutable to Kirklees, Calderdale, Wakefield areas. Leeds and Manchester under an hour away.

Set in the heart of Yorkshire countryside, just 4 miles from Holmfirth with a country pub 2 minutes walk away, our recently renovated cosy cottage looks out over stunning and far reaching views . A perfect base for walking, cycling or just simply a relaxing break.
The cottage comprises a tiled floor entrance porch with washer/dryer. The light and spacious fully fitted kitchen with small breakfast bar leads through to an open living dining area with wood burning stove on the ground floor. A carpeted single turn staircase gives access to double & twin bedrooms which share a fully tiled bathroom with shower over bath. The cottage doesn't have equipment for young children, such as travel cot, stair gates or high-chair. However we are more than happy to host young families who can bring their own gear. The private parking for either 1 large or 2 small small cars leads to a small sunny garden and patio ; ideal for enjoying a cup of coffee (or glass of wine!). Linen and towels are all provided free of charge as will a starter kit of kindling and a small supply of logs for the stove (during the winter months). Small supplies of tea, coffee and sugar, oil and condiments can be found in the well equipped kitchen. We also leave a pint of milk in the fridge, and 6 freshly laid eggs from the farm next door! Up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcome, but please note we charge £10 per animal (to be paid direct, on arrival) to cover additional cleaning etc. Dogs are to be kept off furniture, not allowed upstairs and not left in the house without their owners. Wifi is provided, but as we are in a rural location the data is not limitless; its fine for running Apps, emails etc but not for streaming films etc.
Our local pub is a couple of minutes walk, OK for drinkers, great for pub grub and famous for it's Sunday carvery. Within easy reach are Holmfirth Vineyard, The Oil Can Cafe and Yummy Yorkshire Icecream Parlour and Restaurant..... all worth a visit or two! For anyone wanting a pamper session we can highly recommend Smallshaw Spa - a wonderful rural retreat.
  • We had such a great stay here! The cottage was so lovely and really clean and had everything we possibly could have needed. The fresh eggs and milk were such a lovely touch on arrival! The beds are so comfortable and the wooden flooring throughout the ground floor was perfect for our dog! We’d definitely stay again and we will be recommending Law Common Cottage to all our friends and family!

  • What can I say? We had an amazing stay at Weavers Cottage! The cottage is super stylish well equipped, incredibly clean with everything you will need, and the living room on the top floor was sensational with views you can never get bored of. Our son loved the real christmas tree and decorations and tried most of the many board games and read some books too. The bedrooms are warm comfortable and cosy, the kitchen amazingly well equipped. The village is lovely with walks on your doorstep, we did the stream walk upon Sarah's suggestion and visited the Yorkshire Sculpture Park too, local pub nice too. We had a fantastic stay and would recommend to anyone. Thank you Sarah for a incredible stay - we didn't want to leave! We will definitely be staying again :-)

  • Beautiful house, brilliant location for all Peak District walks and landmarks, excellent communication with host, absolutely faultless. Five stars

  • This is a lovely cottage, beautifully furnished and very warm and comfortable. It was spacious enough to accommodate 2 adults and 2 teenage boys, plus the dog .It is very well located, close to 2 good pubs for food and drink and multiple places to walk, either from the front door or just a short drive. Kate met us soon after we arrived and provided excellent information about places to visit, eat etc. Sadly we didn't have great weather so missed out on the opportunity to explore the area as much as we hoped during our 4 day stay, but we are determined to return before the end of the year. Would have no hesitation recommending- feel we've discovered a gem of a place to stay.

    Lisa2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A very cosy cottage in lovely countryside and a lot of very good walks nearby. You can do 20 minutes or 3 hours and we did both. Beautiful countryside. Kate was brilliant - really welcoming and so helpful. We have family nearby and know the area but if you don't, Kate is full of information. I highly recommend this cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We thought the cottage looked great and we were not disappointed.

  • Our stay at the cottage The other place was the most wonderful stay of our 3 weeks trip to England and Scotland. The cottage is wonderful and very cosy. It is more beautyful than in the pictures and with al lot of space and decorated with englisch taste. Kate is most welcoming and gave us - besides the welcoming details - very good advice on walks and things to do like the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Thanks very much, Kate!

  • This is a fantastic, quirky little cottage with everything we needed for our short stay. The children loved exploring the library space, in fact I wish our stay had been longer so I could indulge in the books some more! The cottage was very well equipped indeed and nothing was too much trouble for Kate. Every suggestion she made (places to eat out, routes to go walking etc) enhanced our visit. Would love to go back! Thank you Kate, for your hospitality! 🙂

  • We visited family in the area and wanted somewhere different to a hotel - what a great decision! A beautiful house, immaculately presented and great hosts The weather was awful which was a shame, but this meant we stayed in the house more which was fine, lots of room for us to spread out. We will stay again

  • Such a lovely, warm and spacious house for spending quality time with family! Plus outstanding views as well - thank you

  • Highly recommended and exceeded expectations.

  • We very much enjoyed our stay. Mandy was kind enough to meet us at the house and show us round. The house is large and with two full living rooms, large dining room and kitchen, there is plenty of space. Loved cooking on the Aga (best roast potatoes ever). The area is beautiful with walks and hikes right out of the front door, but not too far from the shops if need be. The family all enjoyed our stay and I would happily stay again.

    Paul2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful beautiful home! Incredibly well equipped, beautiful and clean - a great place to explore the countryside. Mandy was fantastic - very accommodating and gave some great recommendations. Many thanks!

  • Catch up for group of friends. Everything we imagined - house is beautiful, we had a chilled relaxed few days just hanging out (pretty much in the house!). Bedrooms were all great and dining room great space for us all. Spent most of our evening time in the lounge areas upstairs. Mandy was a great host - brilliant communication and welcoming. We will be back!

    Leanne2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Rawdon Hill Farm completely exceeded our expectations. The property was in beautiful condition and a lovely place for a family stay. All the bedrooms had their own bathroom/en-suite and we loved all the special touches. Mandy as a host was so accommodating and friendly too. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough and we definitely hope to be back.

  • Great place, excellent location however if you're tall watch the stairs and entrance to kitchen bumped a couple of times , but amazing place to stay. Everything as described and very clean and the little touches like tea and coffee available on arrival well appreciated. Would definitely recommend and would use again if dates available.

  • Victoria is a very good host who provided a quick response to our questions. We appreciated the washer/dryer, record album collection, lovely modern bathroom, well equipped kitchen. The decor is also lovely. Tiny dining table, but big enough for two and we didn’t mind. I loved the stone slab staircase. Wonderful old building.

  • Spotlessly clean accommodation, all amenities you would expect. Brilliant location with plenty of restaurants and bars (when they are not closed due to Covid-19). Communication was excellent and quick responses. Hope to return soon.

  • Nice cozy cottage once you find it ..... which isn’t easy. Your have to park your car in the station car park. Take luggage down to Harvey’s then turn up that cobbled path to the book shop then turn right and at the end of the row of houses is Cozy Cottage, which is entered through a gate. Once in it is plenty big enough for two people. It did take a while to warm through but once it had it was perfectly comfortable. The complementary milk, OJ, Water were out of date. Upstairs the bedroom and bathroom was clean. I would stay again now I know how to find it and park etc. The location is superb.

  • We had a really lovely stay at Jemma's, the fireplace offered great relief when we got back from a stormy walk! It is a nice homey place, at the most convenient location of the town, parking, shopping and bars all within 5 minutes. Thank you for having us! Elli & Tamas

  • Great little cottage , everything you need , loved the log burner , the cottage is bang in the centre ideal location in holmfirth .

    Jeanie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for exploring Holmfirth and if you are a fan of Last of the Summer Wine, the location is just perfect, only a few steps from Sid’s Cafe, the start for the tour bus, Nora Batty’s home and Compo’s Exhibition. The cottage itself and its amenities were just right. I much enjoyed staying in a local property with its build style and construction materials very different to my home town. I used the kitchen for cooking full English breakfast and evening meals and no problems here. It was also appreciated that there was milk, OJ, coffee and tea etc. The cottage was lovely and clean, and exactly as described. The bed was a super king size and very very comfortable and even though in a very central location no noise or disturbance from the street or traffic. I did light the log fire on two of the evenings, this was easy and made the cottage really homey, especially as I stayed during November. All in all a great cottage to stay and I would certainly recommend.

    Bridget2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy cottage was exactly that, a cozy, homely and comfortable ‘base camp’ for our time in the area. It was our first weekend away with our newest addition to our little family, a four month old golden retriever pup. He was very comfortable chilling out on his bed in front of the wood burner after a day of being outside. The amenities were very welcome. Tea and coffee making facilities, along with everything you need to get the wood burner going. The cottage was perfect for us as a couple and our four legged friend. He wasn’t allowed up on the furniture (the pup I mean, not my partner), but this wasn’t an issue as we knew in advance and brought his bed along. The place was very clean and a comfortable home-from-home.

Closer to home on the edge of Netherton Village itself you'll find Hinchcliffe Farm - a multi-award winning restaurant and farm shop whose produce is to die for! Peaks, Pennines & Dales From south to north the Pennine chain starts in the area known as the Peak District. 555 square miles of the Peak District falls within the Peak District National Park which became, in 1951, Britain's first designated National Park. The Southern Pennines is a landscape of large-scale sweeping moorlands, pastures enclosed by drystone walls, and gritstone settlements contained in valleys. As part of the Pennine ridge of hills it lies between the Peak District National Park and Yorkshire Dales National Park, but has its own distinctive identity. The Cottage is within each reach of all of these areas of outstanding natural beauty.
  • This place is a little gem. Super clean, warm and well appointed. A perfect place for a couple to spend an intimate break.

  • Beautiful scenery and an ideal location. Only 20 minute walk to lovely restaurants in Honley, the perfect spot for a weekend escape.

  • We had a great stay at the cottage - everything was as we expected and more. The beautiful views were amazing to wake up to on a morning and the cottage is in a brilliant setting. It is a short walk to the nearest pub and shop, with some takeaways. A bit of a longer walk to any restaurants / bars about a mile and a half away but still not too far. All in all lovely stay and will be recommending to others.

We have three ensuite bedrooms at The Olive Branch each individually finished to a high standard. Although we are nothing like a hotel, you will be very pleased by the service we can offer, you can come and go to your room as you please with no night time restrictions, there is always somebody on call to help you with any arrangements such as travel! The Colne Valley Lying to the west of Huddersfield, the Colne Valley has much to explore, including a number of stone built villages and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal which flows through the valley bottom.Sitting at the head of the valley Marsden is a very popular location for visitors where you can wander alongside the water's edge and retrace ancient packhorse trails. But, don't be fooled, this is a thoroughly modern village, where contemporary arts and crafts site perfectly alongside country ales and village stores.Slaithwaite is dominated by magnificent mill buildings, as well as a Georgian Church and the nearby 16th Century Slaithwaite Hall, you'll recognise it as the fictional Skelthwaite in the TV series Where the Heart Is. Events in the Colne Valley feature folklore festivals, jazz, brass bands and much more, and the area is surrounded by the dramatic Peak District Park and the National Trust Marsden Moor Estate making it an excellent base for walkers, cyclists and riders alike. Eastergate Bridge This scheduled ancient monument lies on the edge of the moorland, at the confluence of two streams. Dating back to the 17th century, Eastergate Bridge is an old packhorse bridge once used by Galloway ponies to transport baskets of wool from Huddersfield to Rochdale Pule Hill An impressive rocky outcrop offering incredible 360 degree views over much of the estate. A fantastic place to visit when the sun is beating down on it, but equally as spectacular on a day when there is snow on the ground. Wessenden Valley A wild and remote valley looking down across Blakeley and Butterley reservoirs. There are often fantastic sunsets here. It is also a great place to spot moorland birds such as golden plover, grouse, curlew and twite, which all breed here in good numbers. Standedge Tunnel Standedge Tunnel is the longest, highest and deepest canal tunnel in Britain! Situated midway along the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, the tunnel takes the canal under the high Pennine spine of Northern England between Marsden in the Colne Valley and Diggle in Saddleworth Marsden Jazz Festival The street festival, which takes place by the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, It acts as a showcase for all styles of jazz and up-and-coming talent, as well as playing host to some of the UK's finest jazz musicians
  • Despite The Olive Branch Inn not being open during our stay, we were greeted upon arrival and the room was lovely. We had a great night away and would definitely recommend.

  • What's not to like here!! Fabulous and friendly welcome, exceptional food and a beautiful, stylish cosy bedroom. Just a faultless stay. Stay here without a second thought and I'll certainly be back.

  • The Olive Branch is a fabulous old coaching inn/restaurant on the A62 between Huddersfield and Manchester. Perfect for a night or two stopovers or for exploring Marsden Moor and the local villages. Beautifully appointed room with ensuite and the option to stay for dinner in the inn/restaurant or enjoy a glass of wine in the bar. I had fish pie which was divine.

  • We had a brilliant stay for one night here - very comfortable and spacious room with everything we needed! Hospitality was great - easy communication before check in, and when we had to leave early in the morning (before breakfast time), we were sent some toast and cereal to have in our room! Thanks for a great stay

  • We stayed in the duck room which we found comfortable and charming. Super fast wifi and great attention to details (e.g. great tea and coffee selection) Window right on the street which can be a bit noisy. Street is not too busy however and wasn’t a problem for us. We would definitely recommend it!

  • Great location to explore Holmfirth. Philip and Em were great and very helpful with suggestions to eat and local places to go. Lovely little find and I loved the log burner! Cosy and pet friendly. Lovely little patio area to have a coffee in the morning. Chippy and local shop/post office in walking distance. Would definitely go back again.

Quiet family home with level off road parking for up to 4 cars, within walking distance of Holmfirth town centre. Bed linen & towels provided; also tea, coffee, milk & biscuits. House sleeps 9 in 1 king size bedroom, 1 double bedroom, family room (double and 2 singles), & single bedroom. Upstairs bathroom with shower, bath, toilet & sink; utility room downstairs with walk in shower, toilet & sink. Large kitchen, 2 reception rooms. Lawned enclosed private gardens front and back.
Quiet family home in Wooldale, West Yorkshire. The house is less than a mile from Holmfirth town centre with its many cafes, shops and bars. All bed linens and towels provided. Tea, coffee, milk and snacks will be waiting on arrival. This is the perfect location for groups of friends and family to meet up. The area is known for its outdoor pursuits, with lots of walking, biking and horse riding in the Pennines and Peak District. There are ample walks from the house around the area's many hills, woods, moorland and reservoirs. Hard flooring downstairs is welly-resistant and the downstairs shower room makes it easy to clean off muddy kit. Bikes can be stored at the back of the house. There are lawned gardens to the front and rear of the house with space for sitting and playing. The house is centrally heated, there are also woodburning stoves in both reception rooms. I leave courtesy logs for one fire. Please supply your own logs if you want to make continued use of either woodburner, and supervise children and pets. Groups of families, friends, walkers, cyclists etc. are very welcome with their pets but no rowdy parties please - it's a semi-detached house and a quiet neighbourhood. No smoking or vaping in the house or grounds. No open fires or fire pits outside. There is no microwave, and the wood burners are not protected by any fire guards. Your pets are very welcome if they abide by the rules that my dogs have: - They are not allowed upstairs at any point. - They are not allowed on any furniture. - They are never left unattended in the house or garden. I'm happy to recommend local pet sitters. - Exercise common sense over if and when they’re allowed in the front room on the carpet. There is level off road parking on the drive which fits 2 cars very easily and up to 4 with a bit of a juggle. This is very unusual for Holmfirth! Holmfirth is a lovely small town in West Yorkshire, renown as the setting for BBC's Last of the Summer Wine. It's a scenic and rural area, a great place for wandering in independent shops, tearooms, vintage and antique shops, boutiques, bars and award winning restaurants. Slaithwaite, Marsden, Uppermill, Diggle, Delph and the neighbouring Pennine towns are all good for a day trip. Holmfirth centre is less than a mile away, making for an easy walk down and a sturdier walk back up a long hill. If you don't fancy this, a rural minibus can be flagged down from directly outside the house every hour, or you can catch a bus from the main road at the bottom of the hill every - there's one every 20 minutes. Holmfirth Picturedrome is a great small music venue which hosts live music, film screenings and other events. There are two small independent breweries and a vineyard within a mile. My home is also an ideal venue for visiting Huddersfield University (6 miles away) and Wakefield (12 miles) for the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, National Mining Museum or Hepworth Gallery. Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield are all about 20 miles away and can be accessed by public transport within an hour. The drive gives pedestrian access to a separate workshop behind the garden. You might see me and dog coming and going but I respect your privacy and will leave you entirely to your own devices unless you get in touch. Please make sure the side gate (marked private) is accessible on foot.
Great local facilities - pub, shop, friendly neighbours. Wooldale is a quaint wee area and Holmfirth is a lovely town, fantastic for a wander. Good links to public transport. The most beautiful countryside - ideal for outdoor pursuits, walking, biking. A wonderful place to live!

Not only was it sparkling clean, she left some goodies for our arrival and even replied quickly with tips on pubs for us to go to with our dog which we really appreciated. It’s also a great location, a quick 15 mins stroll down the hill to Holmfirth and a short walk or drive to lots of great stuff. (Which Lynne has listed our in a helpful folder!) We would definitely stay again! Thanks Lynne

Tyas Cottage is located in a small hamlet within an idyllic local beauty spot on the site of the first water-powered mill in the Colne Valley, near Slaithwaite and 7 miles from Huddersfield. Tyas Cottage is south facing within the sheltered, wooded valley, Merrydale, and at the end of a secluded cul-de-sac. Tyas Lane is an ancient, cobbled pack-horse route and, apart from the sound of falling water, the property is quiet and rural. Please note that, due to the pandemic we now have a "deep clean" (to government guidance for employers) between bookings and a more flexible cancellation policy. This property is ideal for people wishing to self-isolate.
Our guests seem to particularly enjoy the quiet, secluded, rural location. They often walk up through the woods on the ancient packhorse route that leads to the Rose and Crown with its delicious beer (it is not suitable for the old and infirm).  Also much commented on is our steep, narrow, cobbled access lane. We are happy to ferry guests up and down the hill when there might be snow or ice on the road, but even large ambulances are able to get up and down in normal weather. The cottage is furnished with very special antique furniture, much of it brought over from South Africa. This includes a hand-carved Georgian mahogany 4 poster bed. The gardens contain several sculptural features. The metal pods that hang from a tree next to the millpond are very well used. There is a charging point for electric cars.
Slaithwaite is a vibrant village and definitely "on the up". It is a lovely walk down Merrydale to Slaithwaite (about 25 minutes). The seat of the industrial revolution, the topography of this district is very varied with its tight little valleys in between vast heather-clad moorland. There are loads of varied and interesting walks in the area. Tunnel End could be a destination if one were to walk along the canal from Slaithwaite to Marsden. The Pennine Way is quite near to Tyas Cottage.
  • Tyas cottage is a lovely stay for those who like to walk due to its settings ... Down quite a steep country lane past sign saying road is not passable to vehicles, don't be put off and continue down the lane...

  • The most stunning location and such a beautiful cottage, located a little off the beaten track - which was what we wanted. A little treacherous in wet weather but no complaints from us. Victoria was next door to hand if there was a problem, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful place.

  • Our stay at Tyas cottage was really great. The interior is well thought of and has a uique style that we really enjoyed. The house is very well equipped ans the rooms are big and nice.if you like it a little bit rural and quiet this cottage is perfect for you.

  • What can be said other 5 STARS. We absolutely loved our stay at Tyas Cottage. It was everything we could have wished for and more. Victoria (the host) answered many questions prior to our visit and even spoke to me before we planned our trip to the UK from Texas. I was a little worried than the 9-seater van we had hired would not fit down the lane since I had read in the description that the lane was narrow and steep. There was nothing to worry about at all and our 9-seater Hyundai van easily navigated down the road to the cottage. Victoria was not only great in terms of communication prior to the visit but also met us when we arrived and gave us a great overview of the area and everything we needed to know about the cottage. With a 2 week stay we really wanted to know that we had chosen the right place for the vacation. We were super happy with our choice and it could not have been a better stay. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and in such an idyllic setting. Our 4 children were in heaven exploring the secret garden and tithe surrounding areas. It was so peaceful and yet also so close to all the things you need. A local grocery store within 5-10 minutes drive and with access to the M62 only 10 minutes away we were so well positioned to visit Manchester, Leeds and beyond. Everything we needed on a long trip away from home was there. We missed Tyas Cottage as soon as had to leave. If we could rate more than 5 stars we would. We highly recommend!

Welcome to my home, a beautiful 200 year old weavers cottage. Located in the rural village of Slaithwaite, close to all the amenities. The cottage is full of character with exposed beams, and a warm, welcoming feel to it. It is the perfect getaway destination. Close to fantastic walks and cycle routes, with breathtaking scenery right on your doorstep. Whether it's along the canal or up onto the moors. The village and surrounding areas have many local businesses, bars and restaurants.
The cottage is situated in a quite, green and leafy location, on a quiet road. Built of stone, with exposed beams and a great fire to put your feet up in front of. The cottage mixes old world charm with a modern twist.
The village of Slaithwaite is a short 5 minutes walk to the centre. There are beautiful local shops, antiques, greengrocer's, butchers, cafe's, restaurants and bars, as well as Aldi. There is a scenic walk along the canal to Marsden. The cottage is situated 3 minutes walk from the bus stop, with buses to Marsden and Huddersfield. 15 minute walk to the train station, with trains to Leeds and Manchester.
  • Wonderful place to stay, very clean. Jane was an amazing host and responded really quickly when we had a small issue with the heating. I fully recommend this beautiful cottage, great value for money. Thank you

  • Easy booking and great communication. The cottage was lovely and clean with so many thoughtful touches. We had use of the whole property which is important to us, we like our privacy and this place ticked all the boxes. A welcome letter explained how to use everything and local places which were recommended. Thank you Jane for a lovely stay, much better and cheaper than using a hotel and being stuck in just one room.

  • Jane’s house really feels like a home away from home. Exactly was we needed for a cozy and relaxing week-end. Slaithwaite is a cute little village with cafes, restaurants and pubs, the walk towards Marsden was absolutely lovely and we enjoyed the jazz festival there. Would recommend!
