This cottage offers the ultimate get-away-from-it-all experience! Perched at the edge of the sea, it offers an incredible view and all the peace and tranquility you could want. Situated at the end of a long private drive, the beach is a 5 minute stroll along a breathtaking cliffside path -- yet the cottage is just a few minutes from groceries, restaurants, whale watching, and everything else that Ingonish has to offer.
The cottage's simple style doesn't skimp on conveniences. It includes a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable living room that highlights the spectacular view, a huge deck, and comes equipped with a BBQ, beach chairs, & board games for a vacation experience you won't forget.
The cottage is just off the main road (the Cabot Trail) but set well back (the road can't be seen or heard). Its central location offers very quick and easy access to all that Ingonish offers and makes it an ideal base to explore the National Park.
  • This place is perfect for a stay in Cape Breton. Great location, amazing views and the rustic cozy feel of the cottage just feels right. Tracy and Lisa were great hosts. They both went out of the way to make our experience as worry free as possible. From arranging for a play yard and high chair for our daughter to providing extra lights and candles during a storm. I have been to Cape Breton a few times and this is my favourite place to stay. The people in Ingonish are amazingly friendly, the hikes can’t be beat and there are a couple of great restaurants and cafes.

    Kacey2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • The location was great. Everything you need. Nice local grocery store & restaurants.

    Trudi2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect cottage for a cabot trail/Cape Breton Highlands retreat. The cottage has all the necessary amenities one would need on a retreat. It is only a short drive to Ingonish beach as well as the Franey Trail (one of the best hikes in the park). The hosts are exceptionally friendly and very responsive. Overall we had an amazing stay.

    Gregory2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's place is absolutely fantastic. The view is unparalleled, the location couldn't be better, the house was super clean, and Lisa was super responsive. Highly recommend!

    Anna2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Charming and private location with beautiful vista of Kings Point. Great deck with large bar-b-q, great for entertaining friends and family. Walking distance to beach and close proximity to hiking trails within Cape Breton National Park. Lisa was very attentive to our needs. A very good experience and stay.

    Ian2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing view Lovely cottage Lots of privacy Good location for exploring Cape Breton

    Austin2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Ton is such a nice guy and his cat is just lovable. I really liked my stay in the ZzzzMoose and would love to come back

    Robert2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space. I stayed with a few girlfriends and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Went for a snowshoe down by the beach at sunset and woke up early to catch the sunrise. Stunning, plus amazing hospitality. Will definitely stay here again

    Danielle2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Ton’s place was lovely! Check in was easy and he’s a fantastic host. The space itself was stunning - on the ocean and at night the sky is crystal clear/perfect for a relaxing getaway. The private bathroom areas were a lovely surprise - we didn’t end up eating at the cafe on site, but plan on making a point to do so the next time we’re in the area.

    Brittany2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot for an overnight getaway or a weekend trip. We brought our own snow shoes. Had a great time. :)

    Emma2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the cabin, it was spotlessly clean and well heated for January! 2/4 of our group opted to get the linen package which was very well organized. We also had breakfast the morning of checking out which was delicious! Ton was an extremely friendly host and very helpful to answer any questions we had during our stay! I would highly recommend staying at this lovely cabin while visiting Ingonish!

    Marissa2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing time at ZzzMoose this weekend! Ton was amazingly accommodating when we ran into issues with a storm and allowed us to arrange our dates last minute. The cabin was beautiful, and the views amazing. Snow shoeing along the beach was certainly a highlight, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a fun winter activity to do while staying at the cabin. It is easy enough for beginners and the whole family to enjoy! The cafe was great, the food was delicious, home cooked, and reasonably priced. We will be back for sure!

    Lauren2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay and we will definitely be back! The cabins are cozy during the winter, the property is beautiful and in a great location for hikes and snowshoeing. The Cafe has great food or you can bring your own and cook in the deck. Would highly recommend.

  • This airbnb is right on the ocean – it can’t be beat. The cabin is very minimal, but has all the essentials. It’s rustic and could use a bit of cleaning, but honestly for the price and location we just can’t complain. If only it was a bit warmer, we would have made use of the hot tub facing the ocean. The evening we arrived it was quite chilly, so we used the fireplace to help heat the place up. There was an issue with smoke seeping into the room from cracks right under the mantle, so we did not use it again. Not sure if it was just the direction of the wind that evening or what, but it smoked us out enough to make us think twice about using it again. That really wouldn’t stop us from wanting to stay here again, since there are thermostats, and the temperature was easily controlled once we warmed the place up. Beautiful spot! Thank you for having us!

    Corinne2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time during our stay! What a beautiful property! A little piece of heaven :)

    Mireille2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • A great rustic cabin in a remote location on the Cabot Trail overlooking the ocean. It’s a great “retreat” with hot tub and ideally located for golf at Ingonish and Baddeck. A great place to get away from it all; no Wi-fi and patchy cell coverage...!

    Duncan2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to watch the sunrise

    Mark2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful property, an incredible view especially from the hot tub everything you need is provided just bring your food.

    Edwina2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is wonderful. The bunkhouse was exactly what I was looking for...to be closer to the sea, you’d have to be on a boat!!! St. Ann’s Bay in full view, I spent the majority of my time on the bunkhouse porch, rocking in the rocking chairs in peace and tranquillity. The privacy is beyond any place I’ve stayed. Two boats passed during my time there. The only other visitors I had were shore birds, grey seals, and bald eagles. Falling asleep to the sea sounds after a dip in the hot tub...rejuvenating!!!

    Todd2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet cabin with a great view!

    Sean2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and value! It was very private as we had the property to ourselves. Directly on the ocean, we had a seal out front a couple nights. Only 40 Kms from Ingonish, excellent location for the Cabot Trail or if you are heading to Louisburg and Sydney areas. We would love to stay longer next time, 4 nights this time! Good communication with Kent, trouble free!

  • Angelo was very helpful and friendly! His cabins are cozy, secluded, and each have a unique decoration/theme. It was right on the water and in a beautiful area with fall colored leaves. I definitely recommend these cabins and will hope to be back one day!

  • Great location and the cabins are beautiful! Highly recommend!

    Courtney2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Angelo’s space was magical! An absolutely enchanted experience. The cabins sit in a beautiful wooded area on the water. The structures are beautiful - the cabins each unique, the wash house very clean and the cooking space a great place to hang. He has a great observation deck. My girls and I had a blast and enjoyed all the thoughtful touches! Angelo offered great tips on nearby activities. We will be back.

    Karly2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • What can we really say to put this creation into words that will do it justice. The cabins are modernly quaint. The view from the dock stunning. Angelo has put so much thought and love into every detail of the spaces. From the keychain, to the stained glass, the ironwork on the lofts, curtains, their tie backs. There is a guitar in every cabin with some instruction, be sure to pick it up and give it a try! Also, be sure to ask to listen to Angelo's music, you will certainly appreciate it. We could go on and on, but you really just need to see and experience this for yourself and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Thank you Angelo!

  • Great place, super clean and spacious. It was too bad the restaurant piece was closed for the season. Where its right on the highway you can get some noisy vehicles going by but otherwise it was nice and quiet. Well stocked with amenities.

  • We would definitely stay here again. Furniture was comfortable, sufficient hot water for showers, slept well and a nice size apartment to spread out in. A good location for activities in the National Park. Parking and checkin and checkout very easy. On the other side of our livingroom wall was a pub. Very tempting and yummy! Very little noise from the restaurant- walls are well sound proofed. What you did hear was mostly the car doors etc when people coming and going. The restaurant/ pub is only open noon to 8 anyway. Bedroom window is close to highway and I am a light sleeper but the highway traffic didn't interfer with our sleep. Very clean.

    Linda2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great place next to a busy restaurant. Very clean and spacious. Only downside was wifi was quite slow but otherwise was a great place to stay!

  • Super cozy spot in the already super cozy Chéticamp. Right across the best restaurant-bar-café in town (which is unfortunately closed during winter). Very clean place, Janelle is super nice and very quick to respond. Would stay again any day.

    Randy2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Janelle's place is a perfect spot to stay while in Cheticamp. It has all the amenities you need, it's in a great location, and Janelle is an expert on what to do/where to go. We'll definitely be staying here again!

    Jill2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night and really enjoyed it. Janelle is extremely friendly and accommodating. I would stay again and probably will be back in the future! Thanks Janelle.

  • Such an accomodating host who did everything to make us feel at home. She also provided touristy suggestions around town which was extremely helpful!

    Grace2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Janelle and her companion are absolutely adorable and available. This little cabin is very nice, the bed super comfortable, the cleanliness is impeccable. Despite the wind, snow and very low outside temperatures, this studio is very well heated in winter. I highly recommend !!

Modern minimalistic 1975 Airstream. Two single beds with 100% cotton bedding. Hot plate and coffee maker with full fridge. Outdoor cooking only, barbecue provided. Small bathroom. Outdoor deck with pergola. Table and chairs on deck providing outside dining.
Private lane, 500 feet from Cabot trail.
There is a convenience store located 5 minutes away (walking) which includes a laundromat, there is also a beach 10 minutes away (walking). From our lane there is a trail to a fresh water lake, it is a 15 minute walk through the woods.
  • This was the most unique little gem I’ve ever come across on Air BnB. I simply can’t wait to return during the summer to experience the beaches, hiking trails and campfires. Will definitely be back for a couple more days next time around. Kathy Ann and John have a way of making you feel welcome from the moment you meet them. You will not be disappointed!!

    Lori2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • What can be said other than it was a great stay. The land yacht did not disappoint. It had all the amenities one would ever need. You are minutes away from trails, shops and food. The private setting makes it a great place to sit back and relax. Highly recommended, would go back again.

  • Very beautiful place, very kind hosts. Google maps takes you down a narrow path be careful

    Dustin2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our airstream adventure was in a word - perfect!! The trailer was amazing - it had all its 1975 charm and several Kathy-Ann touches that made it a fabulous home away from home. It’s location is perfect with great food and hikes just down the road and everything you need in the trailer to cook in if that’s your thing. The bonus was a nightly campfire that we were invited to share with our hosts! I look forward to visiting again next year.

    Mary2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very cool, the Airstream is in great condition and the host has gone to great lengths to make everything comfortable for her guests.

    Jack2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a true gem with two phenomenal hosts. Kathy and John were both so welcoming, we loved sitting around the campfire in the evening with them. The Airstream is beautifully decorated and is mostly all original! We had breakfast on the patio and planned our purchase of an Airstream:)

    Melissa2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sweet hosts who we shared conversation around a campfire with. The air steam itself is clean, cozy, and as pictured. Easy to find in Ingonish.

All the comforts of home are offered in this vacation retreat. Privacy and convenience make for a perfect romantic getaway. Spacious enough for the whole family. Walking distance to public beach, restaurants, gift shops and entertainment venues. Enjoy a lobster boil in the back yard and feast like the locals.
Main floor living space includes; master bedroom with en-suite, 2 other bedrooms, main bathroom, living room with fireplace, open concept kitchen and dining room. Large private deck with bbq offers a great outdoor entertainment area. Bonus “wreck” room and laundry in basement.
Close to entrance of Cape Breton Highlands National Park where the hiking, wildlife and scenery helps make an Ingonish getaway a natural paradise. Keltic Express Zodiac adventures is walking distance and a must do for all thrill seekers. Local favourites, Ingonish Beach, Black Brook Beach, and Mary Ann Falls are just a short drive away. Great day trip distance to explore unique communities such as White Point and the most northern village of Cape Breton, Meat Cove.
  • Lovely space and hosts. Mary was easy to communicate with and very prompt at fixing the internet which was down when we arrived. We had a personal issue which meant we had unexpected early departure but Mary was understanding and kind. Great clean space, would suit a family with kids as there is a big den in the basement with a TV.

  • Very good location and the house is clean. The host is very responsive.

    Frtiz2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house is worth every penny, its very well located in a calm and beautiful place. People who love the nature like me would enjoy it more as it is surrounded with beautiful places. From the beginning our host was very prompt in letting us know about the house and its rules. Response to our questions was also very quick. The house was sparkling clean with almost everything that you would need for a comfortable stay. Given a chance and availability I would love to go back and stay for a longer duration.

    Kaibalya2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a family. The 3 bedroom house was well decorated, immaculate with comfy beds and top quality linens. The kitchen was well stocked with all the equipment needed for cooking tasty meals. Mary was an excellent host. We loved our stay! I highly recommend this home in Ingonish, especially during the Fall with all the beautiful colors.

    Sharon2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • It is really a cosy and lovely house to stay for vacation in Cape Breton. We stayed for 2 nights and the location is nice to take a road trip to the highland national park. And the landlord is really nice, quick responds.

  • Mary Lynn and Maynard's home was the perfect place for my sister and me to stay while we explored the Cape Breton Highlands. Their home is lovely, clean, well maintained and spacious (much bigger than what the photos show), and they provided everything we needed to make our stay wonderful and just like home. There are 3 thermostats which is great for those who prefer a different temperature: One in the master bedroom, 1 for the main floor and the 3rd in the basement. The yard is huge with a deck and grill. The home is located right off the Cabot Trail with easy access in/out, close to small restaurants and a market. The WiFi is slow but usable and the smart TV is in the basement with comfy couches. Bring your own Google Chromecast or similar if you don't want to add your account to the TV. Note that US based streaming companies, such as Netflix, Hulu, etc. do not work in Canada. I would 100% stay here again and recommend others do, too.

  • Loved our stay in Ingonish, the place was perfect, in the middle of everything, we were very comfortable in the house. It was really nice

  • Mary's home is clean, well furnished and in lovely condition. Everything you need is there. The location on the Cabot Trail is very convenient. Mary was very responsive to our needs, we weathered hurricane Dorian there and managed very well despite a power outage. We would highly recommend a stay here!

  • Off the beaten path, cozy and with wonderful hosts. I didn’t get to meet them in person, but they were incredibly helpful with tips of places nearby that may interest you to go, gave detailed instructions on how to get to their lovely wooden lodge, and we’re quick to respond with any issues. If you like staying in unique places, this is a MUST STOP! Also loved that you can book just one night here. If I’m ever in this part of Nova Scotia again, I’m for sure going to stay here again!

  • The stay at Christians house was a very good experience. We had a warm welcome and Christian is very enthusiastic about his project. The rooms are nice and clean. The bed is very comfortable. The shared kitchen is nice to prepare your own food. Thanks for hosting us!

  • Hospitality is easy to claim but real, authentic, and warm hospitality is rare. Christian and Regina radiate with it. You'll get infected with their enthusiasm immediately upon arrival. A memorable experience.

The basement space is ideal for two people. Private entrance with all the amenities for a quiet comfortable stay. Walking trail through old growth hemlocks and yoga studio on site. We do have a large dog, Nelson. He is very friendly and loves to go for walks in the woods. We are conveniently located 10 minutes from the Newfoundland Ferry, 25 minutes to Baddeck and 25 minutes to Sydney. We are looking forward to meeting you and will do our best to make your stay enjoyable. Everyone is welcome!
There is a very unique straw bale constructed yoga studio on site and yoga classes are available for a fee. Big Bras d'or is a fishing village and the wharf is 3kms from Tsuga Place. Lobster season is from May 15-July 15 and the hosts can help you get a" feed " if you so desire. North Sydney is 15 minutes from site, where you will find grocery stores, restaurants and pharmacies .
The neighborhood of Big Bras d"Or is very community minded. We are situated on Boularderie Island which is surrounded by the Bras d"or Lakes. This inland sea of salt water lakes is very unique with beaches, rich fishing areas and pristine quietness. Many of the families in this area have been here for generations, and my own family has been here for 5 generations, originally from Scotland. You won't hear any traffic, noise or disturbances since we are situated at the end of a road and our driveway extends into the woods.
  • Nelson was a wonderful host, we showed up late at night but he greeted us in the morning with a bark, took us on a beautiful guided snowshoe through the woods, toured us around the property, and sent us on our way all the way down the driveway! We especially loved the yoga hut that David and Denise have on their property, it is one of a kind.

  • This was our third or fourth time staying with David and Denise's family, but our first at their house. The space was great for a night; we used it as a jumping-off point for further adventures on Cape Breton.

Our big old house is a hundred years old. It is on two lovely acres with gardens, next to a brook and near some woods, but is just a pleasant walk to the heart of North Sydney. It is a great base from which to explore spectacular Cape Breton Island. The house has many common rooms which you are welcome to use, but we live here with our cat and dog and sometimes kids, and it is not always kept to the standards of a commercial BNB. We're renovating room by room, so it isn't consistent, but it is an interesting, welcoming and beautiful home.
Two pretty acres with a garden and places to relax outdoors. There is a beautiful brook with a ravine bordering the property. On the other side are acres of woods with walking trails. A twenty minute walk to the ocean, shops and restaurants.
  • Nancy and Chris are lovely people i hade a great stay with them. They offered me food, we had some great talks about all kind of things. Also they told me a lot about the region, they are both very knowledgeable. Recommended!

  • Chris and Nancy’s home is a magical spot in North Sydney. Chris took in me, two cats and beagle for the night. The family poodle, Ray Charles, was friendly and enthusiastic to meet my dog, Starbucks. Chis was warm and hospitable and full of Cape Breton charm and fun. We had a great stay!

  • It's a great place to stay if you are coming first time to Sydney. Nancy is such a great person and lovely too and will help you with things you need to know when you are a first timer in the city. She cooks really well. People will definitely enjoy the stay in her home.

    Ashwin2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Nancy's place for a single night while on my trip to Cabot Trail. Even though it was for just a single night, I did enjoy my stay. Nancy and Chris were really amazing hosts. Nancy welcomed me and offered Christmas dinner, as I am a vegetarian, I had some very nice veggies and a great cup of tea. I had a very good chat with both Nancy and Chris, and they guided me on the routes for my trip. I would definitely recommend the place for anyone who visits Sydney and plan to drive through Cabot Trail. The place was neat and cozy. Thank you Nancy and Chris for the great hospitality.

Please see below note on refunds because for the Covid-19. The St. Anns lighthouse was built in 1905. This was a working lighthouse until 1962. We are restoring it and adding some modern luxuries for our guests to enjoy. We are centrally located for you to enjoy all of what Cape Breton has to offer. Travel around the beautiful and scenic Cabot Trail. Enjoy the beautiful stars at night, and picturesque views of St. Ann’s Bay. The Gaelic College is just a few minutes away.
Covid-19 update. Dear guests, We are in unprecedented times, and safety is and will always be our main concern with all of our guests. We understand that you are feeling concerned with travel and possibly considering cancelling your up-incoming travel plans. We ask that you check the Airbnb site for the updates concerning refunds. Presently Airbnb has specific dates where you won’t be charged for any fees. If you cancel after that date indicated by Airbnb, you might run the chance of losing your service fees as we as hosts can only refund what Airbnb would have given us. If you need to cancel your reservation due to Covid-19, please send us a message. We will honour any request up to end of July, that date will be extended if the NS government decides to extend their present advisory. Also please note, Airbnb usually holds onto refunds until your check-in date. So your refund might not come immediately. This is not something we as hosts have any control of. You will have to communicate with Airbnb as this is their policy. We also ask that you check with the Nova Scotia Government site for updates on travel. Unfortunately we can’t add website addresses to this form. We thank you for your understanding and hope everyone is keeping safe. Stay at one of the most famous addresses in Canada, the Cabot Trail and at our decommissioned lighthouse. We started renovations in June 2018 and we have completed our first stage in time to open in August 2018. Every year we tackle a few more projects, in the fall 2018 we installed a new red metal roof, it looks amazing! In 2019 we enhanced the interior with shiplap walls, new kitchen floor, new storm door, moved and added a new wood stove to a center location and installed new trim work, keeping the historical Lighthouse in mind with every detail. This lighthouse has so much history. Follow us on Facebook, lighthouse on the Bay and watch our progress. The lighthouse is best suited for 2 guests. It’s super cozy with a king bed (Casper mattress) in the bedroom, and we do have a sofa bed in the living-room space. Our lighthouse is over 100 years old, so with this comes all of its unique features. We love our lighthouse and the natural surroundings, please ask if you have any questions prior to booking. Wake up to the ocean waves, have coffee on your front deck, watch the local fisherman haul up their traps, and take a walk on the beach. Walk our natural beach at low tide, find all kinds of treasures, sea glass and pottery that have washed up. Walk down the beach and find a secluded sandy beach area, bring a chair, beach towel, a little picnic and enjoy. We can help plan your stay, make local suggestions for restaurants, hire a fishing guide, or even provide a lobster dinner. The Gaelic College is just a story drive and Baddeck is 20 minutes. Cape Breton is beautiful. Our lighthouse is located on the bay in St. Anns, where you will see the most spectacular views, and the stars at night are the brightest you will see. Sometimes living in beautiful areas comes with some small inconveniences. Because of our mountains and valleys we can have some areas of the island with poor cell service, including St. Anns. On occasion we might get a local guest come and visit, some of our squirrels try to come in to save food for winter, they never come inside but you might hear them on the roof or the outside wall by the bathroom. Our closest grocery store is about 20 minutes away, in Baddeck. Yes, another inconvenience, but the only traffic jam will be the locals kayaking out front, some seals swimming by or eagles soaring by.
There is so much to see and do in St Ann's and all across Cape Breton. Locals love our varied cultures, and delight in the out-of-doors, as well. So many hiking trails, waterfalls, artisan shops, local restaurants, museums and music venues all across the island. The out-of-doors will always offer opportunities to enjoy our views and active lifestyles. Grab your fishing rod and head out along the streams and rivers that flow through our woods. Or try your hand at fishing for mackerel on the Jersey Cove shore. You can even dig for clams in the bay. In summer, take a boat tour out to the Bird Islands, nesting grounds of the Atlantic Puffin. Or kayak in the world-famous North River. St Ann's Bay is also famous for our world-class artisans. From May through November, you will find these folk busy creating stunning pieces in all kinds of media — you're welcome to watch them work. In the off-seasons, call ahead. In summer, plan to take a couple of days to visit every one!
  • This space is even better than the pictures can reveal. It is a wonderful space to hang out in and a perfect location to explore Cape Breton. Every detail has been thought about. The bed is extremely comfortable. It is very clean and beautiful. The views are absolutely breathtaking. We hope we can get back there soon.

  • We stayed here for 6 days during Celtic Colours. The property is superb in every way. It is ideally located close to the Gaelic College and Baddeck, giving you easy access to many of the excellent music and cultural events. John and Rosella are superb hosts.

    Wayne2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • It doesn't get any better than that. The lighthouse truly is one of the best accomodations we have had so far. Every detail is well thought out and arranged with love. The location and view are awesome. Plus the nice supplies that our hosts provided, including a bottle of wine. We would love to return one day.

  • Rosella and John's place was truly amazing! We had such an fantastic stay in Cape Breton. The Lighthouse was clean, spacious and had everything we needed and more! Our hosts went truly out of their way to make our stay extra special. We really enjoyed waking up to the ocean views, kayaking on the bay and spending time up at the top of the lighthouse. We would definitely recommend staying here!

    Meredith2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place and we enjoyed our stay a lot. The lighthouse is a very special place and was one of our favorites during our 3 weeks in Nova Scotia. Rosella and John are wonderful hosts, easy to communicate with and always available for questions and tips. We only had 2 nights but we found everyting we needed for the stay. We did not have the time to use all the available thinks like the Weber grill on the terrace or the canoes to scout the sea. This is really a place to calm down. The interior design is beautiful and perfectly fit to the whole nice atmospere in the kitchen/living room. You always have the view over the sea and there is also an white-headed sea eagle flying around. We never saw one from such a short distance. Very impressive. I can strongly recommend this place. We had a wonderful and relaxed time and we plan to come back but then for a longer time. Thanks a lot Rosella and John for sharing this place with other people :-)

Our cozy wilderness cabin offers total privacy on 50 acres of old growth forest. It offers a stunning view of the North Mountain/Aspy valley out to the distant ocean. Close to Cape Breton Highlands National Park, trails, kayaking/biking, beaches & whale watching. Private trail down to the pristine North Aspy river. Simple and rustic with deck, kitchenette, bed, BBQ. For weekly rentals-free kayak rental included. Not for the faint of heart with rugged driveway, steep land and wild creatures.
Our space is unique as it offers a rustic and wild bit of paradise just off the Cabot Trail. If you like, you will see no one at all. The cabin is a simple one room building, well the bathroom is closed off from the rest :). Newly renovated it offers a deck, kitchenette (mini fridge, microwave, hotplate, toaster oven, sink) with a small woodstove and BBQ outside. One of the next best features is its location here in Northern Cape Breton, just off the Cabot Trail, with access to both the eastern and western sides of the National Park. It is a short drive to stunning barrier beaches, like John Cabot's Landing Provincial Park. There are several local shops and restaurants only a short drive away. It is a WILD place though. The driveway is rough. The land is steep. The creatures are wild. This is no 5 star resort :) This is a wilderness cabin. With a flush toilet and running water. No wifi. No TV. And the radio either brings in a newfoundland station or CBC radio, depending on the weather. Good cell service for bell/aliant/telus customers. Rogers customers are out of luck.
The area is very unique, with small communities dotting a rugged coastline. The National Park lies to the east and west of you, while the Aspy Wilderness Area stretches out in front. It is the perfect place for all your outdoor adventures.
  • We had an amazing few days at the Sunrise Wilderness Cabin. The view is just spectacular, the pictures don't do it justice. The cabin is private and secluded, and we felt like there was no one else for miles. The cabin is clean and comfy, and has everything you need - we loved staying in on a rainy day with the wood stove going. The local tips that Jennifer offers are very helpful - we took her advice for various hikes and outings and weren't disappointed! If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful, relaxing getaway, look no further! Thanks Jennifer - we'll be back! :)

  • Beautiful little cabin, off the Cabot Trail enough so as to hear only nature. Loved the wood stove. Got chilly at night so was great to stoke a fire before bed and get toasty. Bed was comfortable. Nice touch having a water cooler and a barbecue. Both were put to good use. The deck overlooking the mountains is the clincher - I could sit and stare for days. I missed the hiking path to the large maples, too much to do. It’ll have to wait until next time.

  • Wonderfully simple yet everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Seemingly isolated but convenient to everything this part of the world has to offer, mostly spectacular scenery and a close association with Mother Nature. Who could ask for more.

    Wesley2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Million dollar view and everything you need to enjoy. Rustic for sure, but not rough. Peaceful and cozy. Would go back in a heartbeat.

    Angela2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • The view. The view. The view! We fell in-love with the cabin - an awesome place to relax and make a meal after hiking and exploring. The perfect spot to be cozy on a rainy fall day. Jennifer went above and beyond to be sure that we had a fantastic Cape North experience. I would go back again tomorrow if I could.

  • Spacious clean rooms with beautiful views of nature. Just off the Cabot trail in a peaceful and tranquil area surrounded by nature.

  • This house was a great place for our multi-family Cape Breton adventure with kids. The location in Ingonish was great for exploring Cabot Trail and the national park, as well as quickly getting to restaurants, markets and hikes in the immediate area. The house was clean and plenty large for our group, with a nice kitchen and eating area. The washing machine was a little quirky and leaked one of the times we used it, but not a huge deal. We had great communication with Danny and the home's caretaker Ray, who came by to help us with a small issue that arose. We enjoyed it here and would recommend it to any other groups looking to stay in Cape Breton.

  • Amazing place, modern and clean, the stars at night and sunset on the ocean were stunning. Regina gave us so much information about surrounding areas, where to eat and buy things, the pancakes were great! We'd love to visit again in the future.

  • Well, here's the conundrum: to tell the truth, or to keep this gem to ourselves... For the sake of the generous hosts - and for any travelers heading to Cape Breton - I choose the former. Simply put, this is an outstanding listing. Brand new (as of October 2019), the accommodations are extremely up-to-date and well-thought-out. The location is amazing, right on the sea. The view from the balcony really feels like you have your own private tower by the sea. And yet it is cozy and - above all - quiet. Sparkling clean, and solar-powered/eco-friendly. Christian and Regina were excellent hosts - welcoming us and then giving us the freedom to come and go in peace. I believe they live on the main floor. I cannot wait to see the improvements that they will continue to make to the wider property: landscaping, etc. It's exciting as they grow. One point to note: this is indeed a private apartment on the top floor of a beautiful home by the sea. But travelers should also know that the floor below holds a number of single bedrooms and a common kitchen and bath, presumably for through-hikers on the Cabot Trail. As a hiker, I would imagine this would be heaven. So, hikers take note! Can't imagine too many other places that would be better. Additionally, the layout is ideal for group retreats. However, for individual or partnered "silence junkies from the city" (such as ourselves) it MAY be possible for there to be other guests who could be noisy. There was nobody else renting during our entire stay, so I don't know if this would be an issue. Fortunately, I believe the hosts also live in the building, so presumably noise and disruption wouldn't be an issue for long. And the house is so well-built that the quality of the construction might eat most of the noise. Still, if you NEED absolute, retreat-style silence, you may want to check with the hosts about other bookings in the other rooms. My sense is that the general vibe will appeal to more low-key guests, but better to know ahead of time than not. Again, in short, an amazing place to stay. Can't wait to go back!

  • Perfect spot to explore Cape Breton! This space is situated nicely along the Cabot Trail, making it a great base camp to travel throughout the island. The property is stunning; secluded, large yard, fireplace and all the amenities you could ever need. Donald and Brigitta were ideal hosts! Very helpful and willing to provide suggestions on the area (we travelled here on the offseason so finding open places was trickier than anticipated). They left thoughtful touches throughout the property that truly added to our stay. Stay here if you get the chance!

  • Beautiful Bed & Breakfast with stunning views and beach access. Located right in the park, it’s minutes away from some of the most beautiful Cabot Trail hikes. On top of this, the room was clean, comfortable and included a five-star breakfast cooked by John, owner and red seal chef. Hospitable and friendly, this place is a must stay if you’re travelling through Ingonish.

  • The setting is beautiful. Hearing the waves and watching the sunrise were incredible perks. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful as well. Be mindful that there is a working restaurant downstairs during the tourist season so you may hear some noise but the food is absolutely amazing. John was very kind and generous. We would certainly stay at Kristin and John’s home again if the opportunity presented itself.

    Johanna2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful sunrise one could from the balcony. We loved staying there. Would book again.

  • Great family owned place with great hosts. The rooms are very clean and comes with one of the best views facing the sea. I recommend booking a table at their family owned restaurant that serves one of the best Italian and seafood I have ever had. John William, the head chef and the host is a very humble and nice person. It was very nice to have a long chat with him and his knowledge about food is truly amazing. I highly recommend this place if you want a perfect vacation.

  • We had an excellent stay at Loril's place on the Cabot Trail. The place is very stylish and well-appointed, with all the appliances and cooking supplies you'd need. She is well situated for touring the Cabot Trail. Heed her warning about proximity to gas and grocery though! As you pass through Baddeck, you are entering a bit of a food and gas dessert.

  • Loril’s place is located along a quieter part of the Cabot trail. It had everything we needed for our 2 day stay including a charcoal BBq. We brought our own portable propane bbq. Her place was very clean, tastefully decorated farmhouse style and bed was very comfortable. She also had a supply of books games and puzzles. There was no TV but the wifi worked great. We were gone all day and home around supper time. Lots of hiking trails around. Loril was quick to answer any questions we had and supplied us with information about the area. I would definitely recommend this place to rent Michele and Dwayne

  • House was very nice and clean, pleasantly surprised at how nice the tv was and that Netflix was available. The only downside to our stay was being woken up by people entering the other half of the house, from downstairs it sounds like they’re entering the section of the house we were in. (Listing stated that we would have the entire house to our selves. Though they didn’t stay long.) All and all a nice place to stay.

  • Thank you George & Patricia for an amazing last minute experience with your listing. The response time was quick and helpful. It was a last minute overnight visit however I can't say enough about the hospitality. I will definitely be in touch when back in Sydney again. The house was the most quaint and cozy place. The neighbourhood was quiet. There was nothing left undone. Fridge was stocked and beans were in the brewer for morning. Thanks again

  • George’s place was easy to get to. The key pad was easy to use to enter and the place was lovely! A few stairs to get onto the nice spacious patio into the unit and then a set of stairs to get from the kitchen/sitting room to the bedroom/TV/shower. It was perfect for a couple and there was lovely touches everywhere. We loved the bed - the linens and towels were so soft!! Made it hard to get out of bed in the morning. Wish we could’ve stayed longer, we will be looking to see if George’s place is available next time we go!

  • What a gem! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come back. Angelo’s cabins and location are beautiful and all of the little details are looked after. Highly recommend coming for a couple of nights with plans to enjoy a campfire, cooking outside and a paddle on the river.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Richard’s place. We actually got engaged the night we arrived so we came in late, and it wasn’t a problem at all. In fact, he had the place ready for our arrival early that morning and was super communicative when we had questions- an amazing host. The kitchen was well equipped so we were able to make our own suppers and breakfasts as we explored Cabot Trail in all its beautiful autumn glory! We had a nice fire one night too. Beds were the comfiest we have been on yet in this trip! Thanks for a great experience.

  • This is a great spot. The view, water, rocks, beautiful property. A very clean and comfortable place. Would have loved to stay longer.

    Esther2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Frank and Linda were wonderful hosts. They came by the house on our first evening and we chatted but then allowed us to have our privacy. Their numbers were available for anything we needed but because everything was taken care of, we didn’t need to contact them until we were ready to leave. The house was very clean and it had everything we needed...and more. The beach across the street became our new favourite spot! Breathtaking views and very few people made it the relaxing vacation we were looking for.

    Kim2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • A very clean house in a beautiful place!

    Erika2019-06-21T00:00:00Z
