Places to stay in Judique
Located in Judique, near Judique Community Centre, and Celtic Music Interpretive Centre. Local beach nearby and only 10 miles to Port Hood and its sandy beaches. 30 miles to Cabot Links, and on the way to the famous Cabot Trail. Full Kitchen and Bathroom, 2 Bedrooms - 1 Queen 1 set of Twins, Private Entrance and Side Yard.
It is the perfect place to stop and relax - the suite is perfect for 2 adults, with large windows for the day and black out curtains for night. The second bedroom is intended for children however 2 adults can comfortable sleep in the new twin beds. I full bathroom with a rainfall shower head and a full kitchen, complete with coffee machine (coffee and tea supplied) and microwave. There are some basic condiments in case you forgot anything.
Judique is located on Highway 19 in Cape Breton. Although a small place, it hosts the amazing Celtic Music Interpretive Centre which makes Judique an essential destination for anyone interested in the island music scene. Need some fresh air - the coastal area around Judique is good for hiking (a portion of the Trans-Canada Trail threads through) as well as swimming. For an offshore experience, consider taking a tour out of Little Judique Harbour. There is so much to discover and explore in the area, as Judique is the “gateway” for the rest of route 19 which includes Port Hood’s famous beaches, Mabou’s Red Shoe, Inverness’ Cabot links, and of course the Cabot Trail.
  • Nicole was so welcoming......we arrived earlier than expected......but she accommodated us! Close to the Interpretation Centre and Theatre......walking distance. VERY clean, piles of lovely towels; comfy beds......would highly recommend.

  • Nicole’s place is a good deal and in a great location close to the Celtic Music Interpretive Center. It’s very roomy, has all the basics, fluffy towels, etc. Nicole even offered to give us extra cooking supplies and spices to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner, and when we left something behind, she was willing to get it back to us quickly and in whatever way worked best for us. So gracious!

  • Nicole’s place was just as pictured. The beds were very comfortable, excellent shower, spacious and well stocked kitchen. Nicole provided coffee and cream, milk and cereal, and a bar of lovely smelling, locally made soap! The location is great with nearby beaches and restaurants. The Celtic Music Interpretive Center is within walking distance and serves wonderful lunch with live local music. We were happy to spend some time with Nicole and learn a lot about the area. She is definitely a go-getter and will do whatever she can to make a lovely stay.

  • Nicole is a great host who went out of her way to assist us and make our stay enjoyable. The accommodation was great for our short stay and well located within easy reach of some nice sandy beaches. The Cabot track is a couple of hours further north where there are lots of tourist activities. We'd happily stay at Nicole's again.

  • Nicole gave us a very warm welcome and some interesting tips on where to go. She was very helpful. The apartment was very clean and fully equipped with a lot of extras thanks to Nicole. Our family had a great time there and the location was amazing.

  • We ran into some foul weather so Margaret and Johannes showed us some awesome East Coast hospitality and offered us a bedroom in their house. They also had great recommendations for what to do in the area. Margaret showed us around the Alto the next morning once the weather cleared up, and it looked every bit as cute as in the pictures. Thanks again!

    Manali2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • It was a unique & fun experience. I sat outside the camper with my morning coffee one day, then had my coffee and breakfast at the nearby beach the next day. Margaret & Johannes were very welcoming and friendly and were available if I had questions about the camper, the towns, the music. I went to the nearby music center two days in a row to hear the amazing live celtic music. My kind of place!

    Christine2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • It was fun to be in the Alto. Margaret and Johannes were friendly and kind. It's glamping plus!

    Mark2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking forward to staying in an Alto-a trailer I had seen online. It was amazing, but more than that I quickly felt at home and really felt I was with friends. The view didn’t hurt either! Being able to use the bathroom & shower was very considerate and welcomed. An amazing experience!

    Lokman2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret was easy to communicate with and very accommodating (we had to plan some aspects of our trip well in advance). She and Johannes met us in person when we arrived, and made us feel very welcome. They also provided some excellent tips for restaurants in the vicinity, as well as for exploring the area and the music close by, which we really appreciated. The camper was sparkling clean and very high-tech — this was my first camping experience and I was very impressed with all the features the camper had in a fairly small space (including fridge, microwave, electricity etc), and the fast internet connection. Coming from a hike, we were also happy about Margaret’s offer to use the shower in the house in the evening. We slept well and enjoyed the bright starry sky at night and the sound of the waves during breakfast outside in the morning. I recommend the Margaret’s camper and would love to stay there again myself - both for the experience of being so close to nature, but also because we really enjoyed our conversations with Margaret and Johannes, who were just excellent hosts!

This is a private, large, bright and fully equipped apartment. Pets are welcomed. There are two patios that guests can use including a bbq. The apartment has a view and access to one of the 5 beaches that the community of Port Hood boasts. From our location it is a 5-10 minutes walk to the local Bistro and 15 minute walk into the village. The surrounding area includes restaurants, golf courses, hiking trails, and many musical events especially during the summer and fall seasons.
We offer a full one- bedroom basement apartment. The view of a beautiful beach and boardwalk can be seen from the apartment. The beach is about a 3 minute walk from our home. There are four other great beaches in the community that are close by. There is a walking trail behind our home, another 3 minute walk. Great for walking, biking and for ATVs.
Port Hood is a small community of about 1000 people. It is a seaside community with many people making their livelihood by fishing and tourism. There are several amenities in the community such as a grocery store, hardware store, liquor store, credit union, churches, fish store, beverage room, bistro, breakfast and lunch restaurant and a take out restaurant. There are five beautiful beaches with easy access, one having a boardwalk.
  • Great place, spacious with all you need. Super comfy bed and pillows, and nice and quiet. Right across from the beach!! I would love to come back in summer. Would definitely book again!

  • Great place to stay. Linda was very quick to respond to my questions. Will stay there again!

    Kim2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place was beautiful, spacious, clean and affordable. Located in the heart of Port Hood. Close to everything. Gorgeous beaches no matter the time of year. We lost power in the middle of a snow storm and Linda had her neighbors deliver a generator. She then called to make sure we were warm enough and let us know where the extra blankets were. Great place and wonderful host. Would definitely recommend.

  • The pictures barely do this place justice. It is amazing to watch the Pilot Whales flipping in the ocean as you are playing in the comfort of your heated pool watching the sunset. There are good hiking trails and rocky beach access right from the front door and the fire pit and star gazing at night was fun. We saw 7 shooting stars one night. While it certainly feels remote, there are groceries, booze, gift shops, restaurants and live music within a 15 minute drive in either direction. Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs were only 40mins away and serves as the perfect home base for driving, day tripping and hiking around the Cabot Trail. Ellen and Charlie were around when needed and incredible hosts. We didn't have time to visit The Fortress at Louisbourg this trip and never saw any moose... but otherwise it was the idyllic Cape Breton vacation and hope that everyone who is lucky enough to visit has as great an experience as we did. Thanks Ellen and Charlie!

    Evan2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Ellen & Charlie's place as a group of 8 persons and enjoyed the sunny stay very much. Plenty of space, a large pool, BBQ, clean and fully equipped house, spectacular sunset view from the terrace and sandy beaches nearby. We were welcomed in person by our friendly host - a place all of us would want to return to.

    Klaus2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • The pool, sunsets and beautiful surrounding beaches are only a few of the reasons to be visiting this beautiful spot in Cape Breton! We had an amazing time with 4 kids and 4 adults. Space for everyone with lots of comfy beds. We spent many evenings in the screened in porch which offered us amazing views but tucked us out of the wind. We would love to come back!

    Addie2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This house is stunning, clean , and beautiful. The heated pool was our kids highlight. Picturesque sunsets, walking trails, privacy and luxury. Ellen and Charlie were wonderful throughout the process.

    Hanton2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a clean, comfortable, simple little spot where one can unwind after a day of travel or exploring. The beds are very comfortable. It’s a bit close to the road and owners house so it’s not extremely private but much more private than say a camper in a campground. The host adds a lot of personal touches such as campfire blankets and roasting sticks. There is a bbq, campfire pit and little brook. Hot water, a shower and more. We would stay again!

  • Our stay at Tracey's was great. Quiet and serene setting on the side of a creek. Could hear the water in the rapids when sitting on the deck. A nice place to relax. All the amenities required (including BBQ and camp fire). Wish we had booked an extra day to enjoy the local beaches and go kayaking. We travelled to experience the Cabot Trail from their place. Made a nice day.

  • A beautiful spot with kind, welcoming hosts. The building is cozy and charming. Breakfast was great!

    Jaime Mary2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay for sure: the interaction with other guests and the hosts was warm and friendly. We really enjoyed the sound of the creek running just outside our windows. The breakfast was very good and lots of it as well as lots of food choices. Having an en-suite bathroom was especially nice. The Inn is such a piece of Judique history and is being very lovingly and beautifully updated. We will return for sure if we return to Cape Breton.

  • A beautiful building on a beautiful property! Lots of great history and stories from this place. The hosts Brian and Laura, are extremely friendly and fun to chat with. They are turning this into the best bed and breakfast it can possibly be, so it will always be getting better. The bed was the most comfortable bed we've had on our trip to Nova Scotia thus far, and very spacious. We definitely want to come back again and again.

    Mark2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Brian and Laura's property is truly a Cape Breton hidden gem which I would highly recommend a stay at. The Lodge is spacious, very clean and well appointed. Their property is off the beaten trail a bit but in my experience most gems usually are. The morning breakfast is truly a time well spent dining on scrumptious home cooked items while meeting fellow travelers, very enjoyable. if you pass up this gem on Cape Breton you truly missed an wonderful experience.

    Larry2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for a night while driving around Cape Breton—the small backyard patio was super cute, and the game room downstairs offered ample entertainment. Left too early to make it to breakfast, but had full access to the kitchen for dinner the evening prior. It was a shared living area, but our neighbors were really nice and the bedroom+bath were private if you did want to retreat.

  • great place. beautiful views, very private

    Michael2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Angela's cottage is a lovely place to call your "home away from home". It is larger than it appears in the pictures and the views are even more stunning. Set on 25 acres, the solitude and peace offer a great place to unwind. There is a new BBQ which certainly came in handy and a new air conditioner/heat pump. The air conditioner was greatly appreciated during the heat wave! A mowed path leads to the end of the property to the Celtic Coastal Trail and a secluded bench overlooking the water - a great way to view the sunset. Although it's too tricky to get down to the rocky beach due to the drop-off, there are fabulous sandy beaches just 15 min. away in Port Hood - great for kids with warm, shallow water. There is so much to do in this area of Cape Breton - small towns close by like Judique with the Celtic Interpretive Centre (great food and wonderful live music), Port Hood, Inverness, Port Hastings, and Port Hawkesbury; the Cabot Trail is a must-see; and we even managed to make the drive out to Fort Louisbourg and to the Glace Bay Mining Museum. Angela was always quick to answer any questions we had and was able to offer advice on what to see and do in the area. The cottage is very well-equipped and has many thoughtful touches that we have not seen in other cottages we have rented. We highly recommend Angela's cottage and we hope to be back again some day!

  • Great location! Beautiful views from the house - large fields with a view of the ocean. We stayed 4 nights in this peaceful location. There was a mowed path that led to the waterfront with stunning sunset. The mowed path also led to the Celtic Shores Coastal Trail where we had a beautiful bike ride. it was an easy drive to Judique ( great Music Cultural Center, beautiful beach at Port Hood and the Red Pub restaurant in Mabou. (Great music). The kitchen was well stocked and we cooked several meals here. Angela was easy to communicate with and helpful with local suggestions. We recommend this place!

  • We were 4 sister in-laws staying in Cape Breton for a few days. We found Cottage on Main to be impeccably clean, very tidy and beautiful decor. It was very warm and cozy for our fall visit and a great home base for the several days that we were enjoying Cape Breton. We enjoyed walks along the beach, hunting for sea glass, close proximity to Mabou and the Cabot Trail. Bernadette was very welcoming and helpful with tips and information about the area. Beds were comfy and our entire experience was positive. Highly recommend!!!

    Susan2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome vacation house! Great beaches around, if you don't mind to drive 10-20 minutes to a beach then the Mabou beach worth it. Although, for grocery shopping the closest store we found is about 20 minutes drive.

    Dmitri2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • The space was beautifully decorated and very conveniently located. The co-op and a couple restaurants and a gift shop were within walking distance and the beaches were, as well! Located about 1.5 hours from Cape Breton Highland National park and we were able to easily get there, as well as some other towns within a half hour for other restaurant options. Bernadette was great at communicating and answered any questions we had very quickly.

    Patricia2018-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious and very clean home, right in town and close to the beaches. Ardell and his wife were great with communication and gracious hosts, checking in prior to our arrival, finding a playpen for our 5 month old and having their relative bring over extra knives for us while they were away. Decent kitchen, having cooked most of our meals at the house. Would definitely stay again!

    JinHee2018-08-18T00:00:00Z

This is a little old Cape Breton farm house. It's near the 105, which is the main road to Newfoundland and Sydney, so you get to hear cars go by. It's not really an issue it's just background. The house itself doesn't have a flat floor anywhere and probably no right angles. However, families have grown up in this little old building for a hundred and thirty years, so I'm sure you will make it through a couple of nights. The location is actually a benefit, being central
The 130-year-old Cape Breton farmhouse is on the Trans-Canada, set back from the highway and with lots of parking space. Your room is downstairs on the same floor as the bathroom, which you share with other guests if the upstairs room is booked. (Bathrobes are provided for all guests.) You have a comfortable queen-size bed, a wall of books, and a laptop-friendly workspace.
  • We stayed overnight during the winter to break up a long drive and the house was cozy and warm. Breakfast was delicious and John makes a great pots of coffee. It’s a central location and a beautiful part of the Island. Thanks again John!

  • Thank you again for allowing us to use your home from February 28 to March 1 while we were in the area for a hockey tournament. It was very relaxing and we felt like we were home. When Tracey met us at checkin she was very friendly and showed us where everything was. I appreciate you allowing us to have an extra person with us and giving us the extra bedding. We loved our little visit from your pets too. I would highly recommend this location to anyone. Thank you again.

  • This is our second stay here. It’s a terrific spot to stop on the way up to the National Park. We love how terrific it is for kids- lots of space both inside and out, indoor and outdoor toys aplenty, trampoline, swing set, and chickens. only thing you have to watch for it that the pool hasn’t got a fence (yet). We were also kindly given fresh eggs for breakfast. Thanks for another great stay!

  • Ellen & Charlie’s house is BEAUTIFUL! My partner said he felt like the photos didn’t do the house justice. It’s situated on a quiet lot facing the water. Unfortunately the weekend we came was grey and rainy, we still enjoyed the tranquil view and our stay. There are many amenities - a pool, huge TV, full kitchen, a deck, outside fireplace, and more. I can imagine this house being fun for summertime. It was cozy and warm, and the heated bathroom floors are a big plus! Thank you - we really enjoyed our stay!

Quirky, sunlit, and secluded, this over-sized cottage has all the conveniences of home, and all the relaxed and slightly shaggy ambiance of a vacation getaway. Combine that with spectacular views and a naturalistic setting, and you may not want to leave Cape Breton.
Two rooms with double beds, one room with twin beds, and two pull-out couches. Large airy living room looking out onto the Gulf, dining room, sunroom, porch, a verandah from which to watch the sun set, a firepit for night-time gatherings, and a semi-shaded patio with a picnic table and garden chairs. You'll find a rugged garden with wild roses, and lots of room for exploring. The open sky and secluded setting (far from urban light pollution) makes this a perfect spot for star-gazing.
Hear some tunes at the Celtic Music Centre, learn about Celtic music, visit a local museum or the Arts Centre, take a lobster fishing tour with fisherman Danny Gillis, hike the trails, laze on the beach, or fling yourself into the fun of a square dance. • If you want somewhere quiet, this is the place for you. Lots of wild bunnies. Close enough to town to get supplies. The beaches in Port Hood were great. Great location

  • The Pink House was a fantastic home base for our trip. The house is spacious and accommodating, with a very well-equipped kitchen that lends itself to sociable cooking. The house itself is a relaxing place to be, with plenty of room to sit, read or talk both inside and out. Very close to the excellent Port Hood beaches and the Celtic Shores Coastal Trail.

  • A quiet and very confortable place. Spacious and cozy. Very convinient: a lot of dishes, towels, blankets, sheets, books, DVD'S...+ dryer and washer. We also enjoyed the fire pit so we could relax every night around the fire. Endroit tranquille. We enjoyed our stay in Little Judique. Nous avons aimé notre séjour à Little Judique.

  • We had a great time at the Pink House. The house has a very friendly feel to it, and we felt right at home. It is conveniently located to the Celtic Music Interpretive Center in Judique, where we spent most of our time. The view is beautiful. We put together puzzles, played air hockey and board games, cooked together, played our fiddles without disturbing anyone- fantastic. The hosts are very kind and welcoming.
