We absolutely loved our stay at the lodge. It is so clean, cosy, warm and fully equipped with everything we needed. We didnt have to leave the lodge once for anything extra. The hot tub is amazing and the lodge is surrounded by lovely nature just oozing peace. Christopher has been an amazing host, communicating with us very well upon our arrival. Very kind gentleman, was a pleasure to meet him and his lovely wife! Overall we would recommend this lodge to any couple looking for a romantic getaway! It definitely made our 1 year wedding anniversary very special. A big thank you and will definitely plan to return.

We rented this lodge for a birthday weekend away and Christopher made our stay very special and a weekend to remember. He and his dad were both lovely and helpful. The lodge was very clean when we got there and was a lot larger than it appears to be in the photos. There are many activities to do in the area and the perfect place to escape! Definitely will come again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Llangunllo. The lodge had an idillic setting along with all the comfort you need for a restful holiday. Chris was very welcoming and was a great host. Lovely Welsh country setting with friendly owners. The lodge is very private with a large decking area boasting views over a picturesque lake. The interior is beautifully kept with spacious en suite bedrooms and inpressive open plan living area. The hottub is the cherry on the cake. A perfect setting for a relaxing holiday, thoroughly recommend.

Lovely little touches with the creative bird feeders meaning we had the company of nature all the way through. We had a lovely time away in the most perfect cabin in the middle of nowhere which was exactly what we were looking for. The welcome was warm as we were shown to our cabin which has everything you would ever need whether its summer or you've been snowed in during the winter. If you're looking for a quiet private time away this is the perfect place to do it.

We had a great time at Philip's home. It is secluded and quiet in a beautiful location. Just down the street is an incredible restaurant, Hundred House, that you must try if you are staying with Philip!

Great location, in the middle of the Welsh countryside. Perfect for all of us including the dog, delicious food in the local pub.

Helen was such an amazing host, she was so friendly and welcoming and really made up feel comfortable ! We had the best weekend away, with beautiful scenery, campfires and a nice cosy Shepards hut ! It was the perfect escape from reality ! The best part of the trip was our green woodworking class with Helen, could not recommend highly enough, was such an amazing experience, and you get to come away with your own creation (we built a bench and a stool) and knowledge of how you can do it again. If your looking for a quiet little escape from the world, look no further because this is your place !

We had an excellent stay in Helen's Mountain hut, it was great to get away from a busy city and relax. The hut is fantastic and has everything you need. If your not use to it the compost toilet yes does sound strange but it was absolutely fine. Helen was a great host and was very friendly. We will defiantly be coming back!

The Whistle is all we hoped it would be a much much more. I'd highly recommend it to anyone! During our 2 nights at The Whistle (we wished it had been more!) we cooked dinner outside on both nights; star-gazed in some of the darkest skies we've seen; got lost walking across the common and rescued by a very friendly local farmer who was rounding up his sheep; walked over the hills to Knucklas Castle; had 2 blissful nights sleep in the super comfy bed; played cards with a bottle of wine until the early hours and fully switched off from the outside world. If you want a get-away which is quiet and remote enough to make you feel like you've left the stresses of life behind but still has all the comforts you need to relax then this really is the place. We'll certainly be going back!

A stunning, silent getaway tucked into the middle of nowhere. Beautifully put together accommodation with loads of outdoor space for cooking (and a gas stove indoors). Helen and Sadie were very helpful hosts. If you want some time away from...everything, with great local walking and remote scenes, but you still want a few creature comforts, this is the place.

We had a great time staying in Helen's 'mountain hut'. We stayed in August and despite some unseasonably wet and windy weather we really enjoyed ourselves. It's a good, cosy place to hide from the elements and is bigger than it appears in the pictures. Bags of outside space too. Also lot's of very nice countryside and wildlife on your doorstep to enjoy (including wild horses!). Definitely recommended!

Just 2.5 hours from Manchester, nestled deep in the Welsh countryside, the Whistle is everything you imagine when you think of a peaceful and private mountain hut...and then some. We arrived just in time to see the sun set over the hills and to cosy up in the beautiful hut, lovingly-crafted by Helen and Sadie. Helen was on hand to show us the ropes (and provide some welcome Tunnock's teacakes!), then left us to enjoy the peaceful bliss that the Whistle provides. Make no mistake, if you're a traveller who needs a deep bubble bath and a full length mirror, this isn't the place for you, but if you're looking for something quirky, idyllic and just on the right side of luxury glamping, then it's the perfect hideaway. The kitchen is fully equipped so you can cook up a storm, and the fridge box has ample space to keep the bacon cold for breakfast and chill a bottle (or two) of fizz, so you can toast this gorgeous place round the fire pit at the end of the day. There are plenty of walks just on the door step (don't forget your map and hiking boots!). We walked for six hours and only saw two other people! The wildlife and countryside are breathtaking, and bottle feeding the lambs was the highlight of our trip. Helen and Sadie are so welcoming and helpful and the Whistle is just the ticket to escape from the rat race. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Sarah's home is extremely comfortable, cosy, and very pretty with stunning views of the green valley. She is is the most brilliant host, & nothing could be any trouble. Great pub down the road too- the Castle Inn. We shall be back!

Great place and very welcoming hosts!

We had a magical stay in Bumbles Lodge. It was a real haven away and escape from real life. The lodge is beautiful, cosy and very well equipped. Being able to sit on the outside bench and listen to the birds, cows and river was so special. The lodge was perfect for the three of us. Our 6 yr old daughter loved having her own room and our 4 month old puppy could play in a secure little outside area. In terms of the local area, Knighton is a quick drive for all conveniences. We used the lodge as a base for exploring; Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Oswestry and Llangollen. Ken and Isobel were so helpful and kind. On arrival we were greeted with a basket of home made jams and chutneys which were amazing. We are hoping for a return visit in the near future and recommend the lovely Bumbles Lodge without reservation.

Bumbles cottage was an ideal spot to enjoy rural Shropshire and Wales during the sunny Bank Holiday weekend. Issie gave us a warm welcome and showed us around. The kitchen was the best eqipped I've come across in this kind of accommodation, reflecting the owner's profession as a chef. We were able to do several lovely walks from the door using maps and information supplied. Watching a variety of birds coming to the feeders was a special pleasure as were the homemade jams & chutneys. We recommend this listing.

A little bit of Heaven, just when we needed it. Wonderful hosts and Ken is a fabulous Chef. The lodge is so comfortable, even electric blankets on the beds - very impressed. Every thing you could possibly want is there, such a lovely welcome pack, and such pretty posies in each room - little things mean a lot. You could just sit all day on the verandah looking at the beautiful scenery or watching the many different birds. We'll definitely be back. Thank you Ken & Issy.

We had a wonderful bank holiday weekend at Bumbles Lodge. Ken sent through very helpful directions beforehand and made us feel very welcome when we arrived. The view from the living room and veranda is stunning and the place was so peaceful - just what we needed. There are beautiful walks all around and it was great to get back to the cosy lodge for evenings by the fire (and watching the stars). We would definitely recommend this.

Bumbles Lodge is an amazing place, tucked away in the Shropshire hills. The views are to die for and we spent many a happy hour gazing out from the windows. The accommodation is very comfortable and cozy. It is a haven for bird lovers as a huge variety of birds come to feed right at the window of the property.The surrounding country side is rural with its rustic charm and there are some fantastic walks. Ken and Issy are fabulous hosts and they went out of the way to make our stay comfortable. Issy makes the most delicious jams and chutneys and we were provided with a good selection!! In summary, this is a hidden gem of a place where you can go and actually get away from it all!!! PS Mobile signals are erratic and it is best to forget about mobile communication!!!

Ken welcomed us and showed us round the Lodge, and pointed out various useful features. He then left us to ourselves, but said that if we had any questions just to come and ask. The Lodge itself was warm and cosy with comfortable beds and sofas, and the pictures here do not do it justice. We had our own parking space as well. We could also use an outside tap to hose down our very muddy walking boots. The countryside was beautiful and quiet, and perfect for the relaxing walking week that we had planned. It was a lovely stay, and Ken and his wife were good hosts - there when you had questions, otherwise left their guests in peace - and I would recommend the Lodge to others.

Ken and Issy made us feel very welcome! Ken sent us a very detailed description on how to find the place, which was very helpful! Issy showed us around and in the kitchen we found a little basket with fresh bread, homemade jam and chutney as well as butter, eggs and milk in the fridge! Thank you both!

A wonderful stay with friendly and helpful hosts. They accepted our last minute request for accomodation and were ready to greet us in less than 12 hours - even making scones in that time! The house is lovely, very traditional with a beautiful fireplace and fire, comfortable beds and lovely garden. The hosts were very kind - but left us entirely alone with lots of privacy. Highly recomended cottage in a stunning part of Wales.

Dominque was wonderful, extremely helpful and friendly, even coming to find us in the dark when we got lost. The house was exactly as described, probably even nicer to be honest. It's cosy, but very comfortable, with everything you need for a good stay. The location is great, quiet but close enough to town for all your needs. Also just a short drive to the hills or nearby places of interest.

It was a challenge to locate the studio but once there we were delighted with it. It had all that was needed - compact well equipped kitchen with starter supplies waiting for us, and a roomy place upstairs with very comfortable bed and large ensuite and a vase of beautiful fresh flowers. It was very quietly located with a stream running by at the gate. Dominique and Dave were very welcoming and helpful.

The studio was perfect, everything that we needed and the most comfortable bed ever. The setting is gorgeous with the brook in the background and Knighton is a lovely area to explore. Dominique was a great host and made us feel very welcome and even left us a little something as I'd mentioned it was my partner's birthday weekend. The information Dominique provided prior to our stay was great and she sourced us a couple of places to hire bikes from and even offered to take us to pick them up. The whole weekend was relaxed and friendly and we will definitely be back. Elsie the dog is lovely too!

We loved the Riverbank Cottage! Peter and Amanda were welcoming and explained everything necessary about the property and it was very clean. It wasn't as quiet as we were expecting, but we still had an excellent holiday here!

Great cosy cottage, has everything you need. The log/coal burner was great and the cottage stayed really nice and warm all night. Gorgeous views from every window and not overlooked at all, the photos don't do it justice at all. Peter and Amanda were great hosts and very welcoming, they had the fire going for us when we got there and made sure we had all of the essentials. We had a really lovely stay. The cottage is cosy with a little terrace looking over the river which was a prefect place to sit and have a morning cup of tea. Peter was quick to reply to messages and made our arrival really easy. I would definitely recommend his cottage to anyone staying in the area. I wish we could have stayed longer!

Me and my partner stayed at this lovely cottage for one night in July. We was pleasantly surprised by this little gem. We also took our pet dog Toby who absolutely loved it here too with some great walks very close to the house. Peter was very welcoming and we had fresh milk and bread waiting on our arrival. The house is very quirky and Peter has a great collection of cookbooks which make some good reading! The log fire made the house very cosy and the open plan bedroom was beautiful and complimented by the lovely decor and mirrors around the house. Outside of the house there is a lovely little balcony area which over looks the river in the scientific site of interest. We went out for a lovely meal at the nearby Harp inn which serves amazing food! Would recommend this place 100%

Lovely cottage and location, great selection of cookbooks! We were very comfortable. Stairs are quite steep so definitely not for under 2s as Peter says on the description. He provided us with everything we needed to light the wood burning fire, as well as a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and bread and butter. Lovely balcony next to the river to sit out on in the evening or daytime. Recommended.

Annette was most helpful with communication prior to our visit. When we arrived we were so pleased with the property - a cute, cosy cottage equipped with everything we could possibly need - and more besides. The array of refreshments left for us to help ourselves to was very generous indeed and along with a handwritten note, made us feel very welcome. The visit represented good value for money and we would not hesitate to recommend the property or the hostess!

We had a wonderful weekend at this lovely cottage. We felt like stepping into a "home from home" We had everything we needed and even lovely cake and bread for breakfast. The sofa and living area are very comfortable and it has a lovely fire. The beds are very comfortable and we had a wonderful time there. Annette was a wonderful host and sent us all the information we needed to get there. The driving directions were spot on! We will definitely recommend it and would be happy to stay there again.

Lovely cosy little cottage, full of character and extremely well equipped. The welcome basket of local foods was a very pleasant surprise, as were the goody bags for the kids. Knighton is a nice little town with all the amenities you'd need. The cottage isn't ideally placed as it's between a livestock market and what looked like some kind of depot. Still, it's not noisy & the kids liked watching the sheep from the bedroom window! Thoroughly recommended. Would go again.

Although we did not meet Annette, she kept us informed of our check-in arrangements and provided many welcome treats on entry into her cottage. The cottage is a listed building, and so there are many original features inside such as small doors, beams etc with the furnishings being comfortable and functional. Although there is no parking directly outside, we were able to park our car nearby. The cottage is a 2 minute walk from the high street which has a range of independent shops and cafes. The cottage is furnished to a good standard, with a Jacuzzi bath (good toiletries and towels are included), lovely kitchen area with fridge, microwave, coffee machine, cooking area (all cutlery & crockery, tea towels etc provided), living space has log burning stove, wifi, books, DVDs, very comfortable beds and bedding and blackout blinds. Annette left a variety of welcome treats which included milk, butter, crumpets, local cider, an Easter bunny, Welsh cakes and jam. There were also items such as tomato ketchup, Robinson's squash and condiments in the store cupboard. There is also a private seated area in the little yard. Very cosy, comfortable, spotlessly clean and welcoming little cottage - would definitely recommend.

Very clean flat! Very cozy, has everything we needed in the living room and bed rooms. The kitchen was well equipped. Full of treats, we came with 6 and 3 yrs old and we found presents from the movie "Frozen", my daughters loved it! Has books and dvds with movies for all ages. What I can about this great little place apart from fantastic. The annex has everything you would need for a short stay or a longer break. The location is great with everything you need close by like pubs, restaurants and supermarkets. The rural setting is amazing with some fantastic walks to enjoy nearby. A neat little granny flat with a kitchen and bathroom and cute little courtyard garden. Breakfast ingredients were provided for us to prepare in the morning (which I think is a great idea). A nice place to stay. Nice and clean and very comfortable.

Phil and Emily's Hedgehog Hideaway is a beautiful little annexe with everything we needed for a relaxing stopover. Phil got in touch a few days before we arrived because he'd spotted I was vegan from my profile and wanted to get in some suitable breakfast options. So thoughtful. He met us on arrival for a quick tour of the place and recommended a local pub where we could get a bite and a beer to unwind after a day of travelling. We were only able to stay the one night, but the hideaway has everything needed for a longer stay and is particularly well-located for walkers.

The Hedgehog Hideaway was really cute, although we only stayed there for one night, Phil was very welcoming and recommended the Horse & Jockey for food and drinks in town, which was an awesome pub with great food and atmosphere. The Hideaway itself was very clean and had everything we needed, with loads of character and charm to boot. There was also a lovely private garden area which we didn't have time to make us of, but it looked lovely.

Stayed here for a few nights for a wedding and throughly enjoyed our stay. Phil and Emily both very welcoming and helpful. Cottage had everything you need and was impressively organised and clean. Knighton has a few great pubs (try The White Hart) and Saffron is a good Indian takeaway. A trip to Knucklas (5 min drive) offers the start of a stunning walk that includes part of the Offas Dyke path, well worth it (be warned: it's steep!). Many thanks for Phil and Emily for facilitating such a lovely experience.

Dr John Prescott is the most interesting personality we have ever met as a scientist he has very wide knowledge of wordly (URL HIDDEN) is very rare to meet an interesting personality while you are on holiday Llandrindod Wells is the beautiful little town ,We were highly honoured with all organic fruit ,organic eggs and amazing fresh river Salmon in the breakfast.Dr John is a very true welcoming simple personality .The area is very peaceful all you can see is beautiful nature little hills and sheeps grazing around with slight breeze,we literally heard water drops falling when it rained Dr John's Bungalow was very well organised crystal clean and very peaceful.I would highly recommend Dr John's presence and place to be at on holidays.Finally I would like to share it is very rare to find simple people living in a quite peaceful place like Dr John's.

I was unable to make the planned trip due to illness and admission to hospital. However, I did not want John to be out off pocket due to this unforeseen last minute change , so I have offered to pay for the booking. I hope John would be happy for me to use the room in the near future

Our stay with John went very well, we had a wonderful evening with him (his life is very interesting!). He made the effort to speak French to its French-speaking guests. Breakfast was just fantastic: fresh fruit salad, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, growing ... enough to keep most of the day. We highly recommend.

One of the good things of Airbnb is that you have the opportunity to meet very interesting people. Dr. Prescott is such a kind of person, he is very knowledgeable in foreign affairs, has developed an outstanding career and he is still active. He is algo a fine gentleman, when he knew My wife would like salmon for breakfast, he managed to drive quite a lot to make that possible. It was our pleasure to be in his home, Renato and Lola

John is a very welcoming host, who speaks very good French! Breakfast is delicious! The exchanges are numerous and interesting. The house is isolated in the countryside, the landscape is beautiful.

John greeted us upon arrival at his home in the beautiful countryside. The room and all facilities were good and as described in the listing. John prepared a tasty breakfast and we had a long chat about his interesting life as a Marine Biologist, entrepreneur, traveler etc. The area around his home is beautiful with rolling hills, farm cottages, little village pubs and of course, sheep everywhere. You really get the sense that you are out in nature. A wonderful retreat.

We have just returned from an amazing weekend break at the Fin Lodge. It truly exceeded our expectations, the lodge was much bigger than I imagined and the attention to detail didn't go unnoticed from the cleanliness (which was 5*) to the DVDs, board games and other extras including milk, tea and coffee provided. Chris was a wonderful host, very friendly and gave advice on the best places to visit. It was a relaxing break in absolute serenity and of course the hot tub was an added bonus especially after chilly walks in the countryside. We will definitely be back!!

Beautiful lodge in a beautiful place. Me and a friend booked a two night stay last minute to get away from the city. Christopher was great with communication and more than accommodating in our arrival time and departure time. the lodge is set up with everything you need and has gorgeous views. The hot tub!!!! amazing to have there and we spent both nights just relaxing in it and enjoying the snow we were lucky to have. I booked a long weekend last minute and Chris replied very swiftly, it was all arranged in one evening. Perfect! My partner and I unfortunately arrived later than planned and also left a day earlier than planned due to commitments back home. I wish I could have stayed the whole time as it was bliss. The lodge was clean, warm, cosy and contained everything we needed. It was set up perfectly, ready for us to start our getaway. The hot tub was great day or night, very relaxing. There's beautiful countryside surrounding, and Chris gave a few suggestions of where to walk. The views are breathtaking. At night the skies are phenomenal, relaxing in the hot tub and looking into the blanket of stars above was definitely my highlight! I would recommend this to anybody, couples looking for a relaxing peaceful break or even a family walking break. I would love to come again and I thank you for having us.

I cannot recommend the hospitality of Chris or Fin Lodge enough. Despite arriving in the dead of night, Chris met us with a smile, showed us round the lodge and took the time tell us about the surrounding area. He also gave us some fantastic advice for the weekend ahead. We awoke to a picturesque sunrise overlooking a snowy farm in heart of a beautiful valley. You'd be hard done by to find a more fantastic countryside location. The accommodation was fantastic, a wonderful 2 bedroom chalet, complete with a Chalet. What a fantastic weekend we had. 5 stars!

Beautiful Wales break! Chris' farm and surrounding area is absolutely breathtaking! The perfect place to get away from the business of the city. The accommodation is beautiful, family friendly and very spacious. The hot tub is an amazing bonus! We will definitely be coming back again and again!

Chris and his cottage I mean wow! His such a nice fella, I drove down from London with the estimated arrival time of 6pm. Due to an accident I arrived at midnight, Chris waited for me and didn't complain and was very friendly! Chris took us to the place and OMG! Absolutely amazing that hot tub does wonders!! The cottage had everything gas cooker, excellent heating and well insulated, bath, TV with free view you name it! I couldn't be more impressed with Chris too, he came to us the next day to ensure we had everything needed for our tourist trip as we arrived late we didn't discuss everything. Chris had milk with tea and coffee waiting for us on arrival. Oh the best thing NO RECEPTION! I loved it!

Chris was an excellent host and made us feel very welcome during our stay at the cabin. The cabin itself was in excellent condition and immaculate throughout. It more than exceeded our expectations, especially the hot tub, which made our stay very memorable. If you are looking for a quiet getaway in idyllic countryside surroundings and you will love staying here. Highly recommended.
