  • We had such a lovely stay! Great location, not far from the beach, in a sweet little town.

  • Cute little place in Newmarket. The building it’s self smelled a bit like cigarettes but that had nothing to do with the host. He was great and got back to quickly when I had questions. Over all a good stay.

  • Jo and Dave’s place is cozy and clean, I had a wonderful peaceful stay, just what I needed since my stay was business related. Jo and Dave’s were extremely diligent when responding through text any inquiry I had, check in instructions were clear and concise. The room was spacious, and laptop friendly. I highly recommend this place for all visitors looking for a stay in NH.

  • You can expect a very neat, clean room with privacy, a separate entrance, and semi-private bathroom in a lovely college town and other scenic towns and good shopping and restaurants nearby.

  • Clean, good location, friendly hosts but privacy easily available with a private entrance. Charming accommodations. Beautiful area.

  • Great place to stay for travelers!

    Piyush2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • The property is lovely. The place is clean and quiet, and in spite of having a bathroom that might shared with another guest, quite private. There is an individual thermostat in the north room, which can be adjusted if you are a cold or warm sleeper.

    Kristin2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about the place is top notch. Clean, comfortable and cozy. Jo and Dave have a wonderful space and I would highly recommend it to anybody. They even provided coffee and fruit for the morning!! I would give their accommodations a 11/10

Move-in ready apartment near downtown & river in working class, generally quiet pocket neighborhood. Walk to 7 restaurants (still open for takeout!) & local fresh market. Separate entrance, spacious sleeping/living room, lots of windows, DOUBLE bed, couch, TV, cable & WiFi. In April 2020 we began closing between stays to allow extra time for deep cleaning & sterilizing of surfaces utilizing hospital-grade cleaning products. (Our pricing this year reflects this.)
Originally built in 1803 as a Boarding House for Mill Workers and overlooks the Lamprey River. We sit part-way up a VERY steep (~12% grade!) hill with uneven surfaces (think frost-heaves & slate walks) outside and level changes throughout the house. * *This listing is NOT suitable for anyone with mobility or balance issues.** The Studio is located in what used to be the wood shed; we call it a Studio because there is no door between the kitchen and sleeping/living room; many guests note the space is large enough to be considered a 1-bedroom apartment. We aim to provide a welcoming, safe, peaceful space for you in this funky old house. The Studio is fully finished and boasts plenty of amenities to support you during your stay. There is art, WiFi, cable & a television, DVD player, sound system, lots of books, some games, a comfy DOUBLE bed, and two couches on which to lounge or snuggle. There is a laptop desk, a few games and closet space if you like to unpack. Fully equipped kitchen (including some snacks and beverage options) and a large bathroom with laundry area makes for easeful living away from home. Everything is kept quite clean and it doesn't always sparkle due to the age of the cabinets and appliances. [We have been focusing on replacing windows and sills rather than redoing the kitchen or bathrooms.] The furnishings and decorations shown in Studio photos vary according to our whims and seasons. Our descriptions are accurate. Most of the artwork is original and hails from Claudie's home town of Middlebury VT. The house is typical of its era with slight level changes between rooms and a step down into the bathroom. The Studio is an animal free area though 10 years ago housed 2 cats & a dog. Our space is NOT suitable for people with animals (pets or working) or children. (We have 4 elderly cats in our separate living space who do not fare well when animals are in the Studio.) We are one block from downtown making the Studio very convenient. It is usually a quiet neighborhood though we are one block from town and the clock tower (it tolls every hour nearby for a quaint New England experience). Sometimes we hear dogs barking, kids playing, trains in the distance, people chatting outside their apartments and other normal working class neighborhood sounds. The entry way has space for your bikes, boards & gear if you are here to play outside! Our quirky old house is not suitable for children or anyone with mobility concerns.
We are in a pocket neighborhood of an old mill town. Our neighborhood is generally quiet and always very safe; our location feels like it is in the country and yet only one block from downtown. The town was designed and built to support people walking to work in the mills visible from our porch. Our former rooming house is located a block off Main Street, a block from the river and a block from town woods. Newmarket now hosts 7 restaurants open for takeout and/or outside dining - all within easy (2-10 min) walking distance of our home so worry not about where to eat, drink or hang out for people watching or snacking no matter the time of day. We have organic farms, corn (haunted and not) mazes and other countrified activities nearby. For trail enthusiasts we are ~3 miles from the Rockingham Rail Trail, ~5 from The College Woods at UNH, and ~7 miles from Fort Rock and Stratham Hill. For road bikers and runners we live on a favorite local 15 mile loop. We are able to help make arrangements for you to rent gear and/or arrange for guides once you arrive.
  • One of my best airbnb experiences ever! From my short-notice request to my short-notice departure, Claudie and Greg were kind, generous, loving people. The space was exactly as shown here, bright and comfortable, and full of little touches (milk and yogurt in the fridge, fresh fruit on the table) that made it especially welcoming. I cannot recommend them as hosts or this place enough!

    Aron2020-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Claudie was the best host with a adorable private space with lots of extras . The breakfast basket we had delivered to us was so yummy. And she had lots of fresh baked goodies in the freezer. Very clean and cozy place.

  • There is a reason why Claudie is a Superhost and that is because everything was perfect! Claudie gave excellent instruction and was a very hospitable host greeting us upon our arrival. The accommodations were very clean and included many many extras. Newmarket is a beautiful location and we will be back for future visits.

    Geoff2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Claudie and Greg were wonderful! Claudie kept checking in, making sure we had everything we needed and that the stay was going well. She quickly responded to messages, warned us about poor road conditions when she knew we were out for the day, and always left a beautiful breakfast for us. Claudie left the bathroom well stocked with any products you may need, and the pantry was full of wonderful food options. I loved the location in Newmarket, and was close to anywhere we needed (or wanted) to go!

    Tori2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot and incredibly hospitable hosts!

    Claire2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, quiet location. Claudie's place was very clean, welcoming, and well appointed. Very comfortable place and Claudie was terrific about meeting and greeting and with helpful tips and excellent food!

    Diane2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Claudie is a one of a kind host. Her studio apartment exudes care and love. It's cozy, homey and quaint. In a perfect location to enjoy Newmarket, you can't go wrong by staying with Claudie, she'll make sure you're comfortable and settled in with everything you need. She goes above and beyond with hospitality, bringing AirBnB closer to that Bed & Breakfast experience and less the hotel experience. I will definitely be back and highly recommend anyone stay with Claudie!

Our location is surrounded by Stratham hill park, and Stratham forest. The bike trails and hiking trails begin at our driveway! ( during rainy season, driveway can be muddy) We do have a large private yard, and the guest house has a deck over looking the yard. The deck has a remote controlled awning. People seem to love the experience and that is most rewarding! guests are surprised at the location, we are literally surrounded by bike trails, play ground s and a fire tower top o’ the hill! Google stratham hill park for listed events
We have lived here for 25 years. It was a long dirt road, and there are only 2 houses at the end. It was nice because the trails in the woods enabled me to walk my kids to school. We have frog ponds, turtle ponds...beaver dams all kinds of wonderful wildlife to explore. Over the years, it has become a popular destination point. At stratham hill park, people rent the pavilions for weddings, family reunions., birthdays...nhspca has there annual paws walk here early June. In late July, the stratham fair is a 4 day adventure, ride, 4-h music etc. the bike riders have really taken over and have all kinds of trick paths and jumps set up!
  • Clean, comfortable, well stocked kitchen. Right next to the trails! We enjoyed our stay while house hunting in the area...

  • We had such a nice stay at Patricia's Ladybug Cottage, which offers the perfect blend of cozy warmth and impressive space: big vaulter ceilings with open timbers, but sweet comfy places to rest and relax. Easy check in and communication, clean and well-maintained, nice amenities, a comfortable bed, and a great neighborhood. We hope to return for another visit!

    Ezra2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Ladybug Manor was the perfect kinda cottage with personality and comfort. The Stratham State Park just behind the house made for excellent accessibility to hikes with our 9 month old puppy Brandy. Less than 20 minutes from Portsmouth, NH. Highly recommend staying here!!

    Samantha2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was very peaceful and relaxing. Great location if you like to hike, alot of trails right by. Quick run to the outlets and into Portsmouth. Very clean and all the amenities that you would need.

  • We had a great time here in the cozy lady big manor. Kept us warm in the cold weather and had everything you can possibly need! Nice space! Thoughtful touches. Thanks 😊

    Lindsay2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place was a home away from home! Stayed for three nights for a work trip and felt like I had a little cozy cottage to come home to. Wonderful space with all of the amenities you could want!

    Sarah2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous place right next to a great public park and hiking trzils!

    Darlene2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We adored our stay at Ladybug Manor. It's a beautiful house, originally built for the hosts parents. It's well-designed, with plenty of space for our small family (two adults and a dog). It was filled with thoughtful touches, like the watercolors painted by the host, a stocked kitchen, and everything else we could need for a week-long retreat. The house is warm and cosy, with reclining chairs and beautiful woodwork. Across the yard are hiking trails that lead to a beautiful view of the area. We're so happy we discovered Ladybug Manor and can't wait to return.

  • Matt was a great host. He provided a clean and comfortable space. Had shampoo, soap, and fresh towels in the bathroom. In the morning he also welcomed me to some home cooked eggs

    Elizabeth2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Matthew's place in Newmarket was my first experience with AirBnB and it completely erased any reservations or concerns about AirBnB's. He was extremely hospitable and you can see the effort in even the smallest things equates to a passion for service and the hospitality industry. He's got years of experience and it shows. The check in was smooth and the whole place was beautifully decorated and my room was just the same. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in and the room was cozy. He opened his home to me and even offered great discussions.

    Roger2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Alex's studio is very comfortable, plenty of space for a couple, plus even space for a friend or two on the couch. Their instructions for check-in and use of the space are very clear. The combination of the pellet stove and the heat-pump kept the place quite cozy, even on a frigid January night! It was a great place to stay while attending a weekend event at UNH, very conveniently located and easy to get to.

    Timothy2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my time here. It was quiet and peaceful. The space is beautiful and very comfortable.

    Bonny Jean2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great clean studio space with large sectional sofa, nice queen bed, and quality linens/towels. Just as pictured and described. Good written instructions provided too. Use of the garage during wintry weather was a bonus. Pellet stove and electric heater kept us warm. Only con is the slanted textured ceiling over interior half of bed. Inconvenient, but not a deal breaker. We would definitely return for another stay.

    Sydney2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is by far my favorite Airbnb I’ve ever stayed at. Laura & Michael’s home is what you see in pictures but actually being there your expectations will definitely exceed. It was very clean and comfortable, I felt so at home although home is very far away. I didn’t need to ask for anything because everything was there. Kitchen appliances, bathroom needs, it was all there. The home itself is beautiful & the property is even more amazing especially during the winter. They were very quick with responses and made sure each day we had everything we needed. If you love dogs as much as I do, they have two dogs who are the sweetest things you’d ever want to meet. I had so much fun with them playing in the snow & adding an extra warmth to my heart. Keep in my mind you are in the basement and there is a family above you. We had noises here and there but nothing to complain about. I could go on and on about how great my vacation was but this home was one of best details about the trip. I will definitely book here again in the future.

  • Laura was very nice and welcoming, always cared if we had everything we needed. The apartment was just the way it is on the pictures, it is very nice decorated and clean. We loved the trail that goes in the forest behind the house and the fact that we could get a bike to explore the area. It is a charming place to stay, I recommend it!

    Marine2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • I always enjoy my stays here. This week was special as we had a "cyclone bomb" storm which included a power outage. There were emergency lights in the apartment, so I wasn't in complete darkness. Then, Michael and Laura started up the generator and power and water were restored. It is unusual to have this amenity anywhere! I really appreciated it so I could shower and be on my way.

This bedroom's private entry is off the front porch. The bedroom is 12' x 16', with large bathroom en suite, closet, "full" size sofa bed, fridge/freezer and microwave. During the Covid-19 pandemic I will only offer use of the rest of the house if there are no other guests. I will be staying at my husband's house. (Normally: Use of kitchen, laundry, dining and living room can be arranged - please just ask!)
Your bedroom is on the ground floor, and has it's own entrance off the front porch. It has a queen-size bed, full-size sofa bed, desk, bookshelves, closet, microwave and even a small fridge/freezer. The large handicapped-accessible bathroom (which was added for my 95-year old mother-in-law's use) was built out into the garage, (which makes it extremely private for you). (The steps up onto the porch do preclude my listing this room as totally handicapped-accessible, but they are few.) I have encased the mattress and pillows in 5-in-1 covers for allergen and pest protection. In the winter your bathroom tends to be cool; please use the electric heater provided in your room if you wish. In warm weather an air conditioner will be installed in one of your bedroom windows. I am a lover of peaceful country living, and my comfortable home on a dead-end road surrounded by fields and woods is waiting for you! Make it your home base while you explore the Portsmouth NH cultural scene, New Hampshire's wonderful beaches, or shop til you drop at the outlet malls just across the line in Kittery, Maine. If you prefer to just relax here, I am adjacent to the huge Bellamy Wildlife Management Area, where you can go exploring -- hike, bike, birdwatch! Great for snowshoeing and X-country skiing in the winter. I am also close to the Bellamy River, here a tidal tributary of Great Bay, where many people come for the great kayaking. I am only 5 miles from the UNH campus in Durham, and I am 10 miles from Portsmouth, 12 miles to the NH beaches. Easy access to highways. The public areas of my first floor may be used if available when I am home - please ask me! This includes use of my kitchen, dining room, living room and laundry. I speak Spanish fluently (my first career was as a Spanish teacher), and have a few phrases of other languages! I look forward to meeting you!
The dead-end road I live on is a quiet place for a short walk, and my neighbors are used to seeing my house guests ambling along. Many locals walk for exercise, or with their dogs or children on my road, as well as all over this neighborhood. The Bellamy Wildlife Management area right across the road from me has several miles of trails through fields and woodlands, as well.
  • This is a real find! Find your second home at Dot's beautiful place. Everything you need is thought of and provided.

    Aeowyn2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Dot is amazing! This is the second time we have stayed with her and again she delivered above and beyond! We were attending a show in Portsmouth which was only about 15 minutes to downtown from Dot's place so it's super convenient. Always responds super quickly to messages and was very accommodating when we ended up having to cut our trip one day earlier than anticipated. Will definitely need to find an excuse to go back to NH and stay with Dot for round three!

    Sean2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Dorothy's house is on a quiet dead end road with fields around it. It is close to Portsmouth (about 10 to 15 minutes or so on the highway) and the center the town of Dover is about a 5 minute drive down backroads. The room is a nice size and very clean with a comfortable bed and couch which I believe is a pull out (although we did not need it). There is a closet with hangers and also some drawers in the room. The private bathroom is very spacious with counters/tables where you can put your toiletries etc. The bathroom has a shower with good water pressure and it heats up quickly. You can tell that Dorothy tried to think of everything that someone might need. There is a small refrigerator with freezer, a microwave, ironing board and iron. There was coffee, some snacks including a bowl of fresh fruit in the room when we arrived. There are plenty of books to read including pleasure books and books/brochures about the area. Dorothy was very responsive when we texted her with questions. We would highly recommend staying here.

Comfy rooms in a two story Newmarket, New Hampshire home. Super close to UNH, Portsmouth, and the seacoast! Both bedrooms have ample closet spaces, and the main guest room has cable TV, drawers, and ceiling fan. Two shared full baths, shared living room and kitchen. Washer and dryer in basement, along with an extra fridge for more space. A/Cs and space heaters available for rooms. Cozy pellet stove in living room. Driveway/parking enough for three cars. Fenced in yard for pets.
The kitchen is a cook’s dream. I have stand mixers, Sous Vide machine, deep fryer, ice cream maker, pizza stones, gas grill, charcoal smoker, electric smoker, and many other equipment needs all available for guest use. I work as a chef at a local, highly-regarded restaurant in nearby Portsmouth, so I’m always cooking at home so guests will certainly be welcome to have some of the dishes I prepare.
The neighborhood is nice and quiet. Friendly neighbors.
  • Mike was a fantastic host. He was friendly, approachable, respectful of our privacy, and very considerate in general. His restaurant and hiking recommendations were also spot-on. Originally, a co-worker and I had planned to stay at his place for a month, but due to the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we needed to extend our stay. During this stressful time, Mike was especially accommodating of our needs, and his house was an excellent make-shift office. There was enough room to spread out, the WiFi was super fast, and both of us could work from home without any issues. We even shared a couple of meals with him and got to try some of his amazing home cooking!

    Jimmy2020-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Michael makes you feel at home. Cozy, welcoming, and full of amenities and snacks. Would recommend to anyone.

  • Mike is enthusiasm to answer the question. Room is warm and comfortable.

    Shuo2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Michael goes out of his way to make sure his guests are comfortable and well taken care of. He’s thought of everything you might need (and extras) and makes it available. Getting in and out is easy, and he goes out of his way to insure privacy when you’re staying at his place. I’ve stayed there twice and will be going back again!

    Penny2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place was just lovely: thoughtful touches and amenities everywhere I looked. It's stylish, super clean, and Michael was a great host. I would definitely stay there again.

  • This is probably my 4th or 5th stay at Mike's house and it always feels like coming home...dog included. He thinks of everything , from the snacks to toiletries you might have forgotten to pack. His dog Elvis is super well behaved too!

Bright 2nd floor apartment over our garage. Newly renovated space with full kitchen. Quiet location walking distance from downtown Exeter and P.E.A. Amtrak Downeaster is just 1/4 mile away.
The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher for your use. You have a private bathroom with shower.
Chris and Deb have lived in their home for over 30 years and are looking forward to sharing their historic town with guests.
  • Deb is the perfect hostess! When I had problems with the coffee maker, she instantly told about the brand new coffee maker available and ready to go in the apartment. Problem solved! I loved the crisp white sheets, the home made muffins and the clean as a whistle apartment. Couldn't be better! Can I give this one six stars?

    Betsy2020-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay. Its private, very clean, and the host is a great baker. The host was very flexible with my changing schedule, as I went through a long distance move.

    Ann2020-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • It's a warm and cozy apartment to stay in. Deb was an excellent host that made our (my girlfriend and I) weekend incredibly comfortable after traveling throughout the New England region.

  • The Dragonfly is a perfect cozy and super clean haven for a getaway! It is spacious and well designed with excellent natural lighting. The whole place feels great! It is clear Deb and Chris take pride in their space. I highly recommend this Airbnb!!

    Betsy2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Dragonfly is a wonderful, cozy space for one or two people. I know the area so I didn't need help from Deb and Chris, but I really appreciated all the thoughtful touches and the clear instructions. My week was a cold one but I was very warm and comfortable in the apartment. And many thanks again to Chris for digging my car out from under a foot of snow!

    Deborah2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • As always we enjoyed our stay at Deb’s tremendously, so much so that we hated to leave! Everything was perfect, very comfortable, clean as a whistle, wonderfully quiet, homey, and inviting. Our favorite place to stay!

A nautical look and feel is what this coastal home away from home offers. A detached from the main house in-law apartment is the perfect get away. Located directly on the water, on an estuary called Spinney Creek, part of the Piscataqua River. Bring your kayak, fishing rod, or sit back enjoy a cold beverage and watch the sunsets by the fire pit. Best water views ever. It is 1.5 miles to downtown Portsmouth, NH and less then 1 mile to the beautiful rejuvenated downtown Kittery.
  • This is a ten star accommodation, the view, the place, the cleanliness, everything was above and beyond our expectations.

    Gina2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous view, and comfortable bed.

    Tonya2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a blessing to have found this lovely guest house in which to unwind after our son’s wedding! Steve and Cathy have created and furnished this little home for comfort and relaxation. Although it is beautifully cozy, it is surprisingly open and spacious. I had room for my morning yoga stretches either in the living room or in the surprisingly large bedroom. We cooked breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen and (since it was too chilly for the porch) ate it in the little breakfast nook with the sun pouring through colorful trees. The chairs and sofas were perfect for curling up and reading (always one of our criteria!) or watching the baseball playoffs. Yes, the experience of Spinney Creek from the porch, the living room, and bedroom is as glorious as the other reviewers have said! Because of the changing weather, our views included a magnificent sunset, a wall of fog, hours of serene water where shorebirds glided, and some slightly more active water as the wind picked up – as well as the famous Spinney Creek oyster beds in the distance. Although this guest house seems a tiny oasis hidden in the middle of nature, it is also a perfect spot from which to explore. Lively Portsmouth is just across the bridge. We spent our days exploring the southern coast – the Marginal Walk in Ogunquit, Kittery Point, Odiorne State Park in NH -- hiking well-tended, beautiful paths and venturing out onto coastal rocks that make this area such a geological miracle. Peak leaf season and water -- everywhere was beauty. Thank you, Steve and Cathy, for your warm and lovely hospitality! We would love to return in years to come! We need more time on the porch!

  • Such a beautiful place to stay! The location, the views, and the accommodations were excellent. Steve and Cathy were great hosts, making a point to introduce themselves and welcome me. Although this is an in law apartment, it was very private and I had a very peaceful stay there. The kitchen is equipped with almost everything you need, minus some baking dishes and baking sheets. The bed was very comfortable and the whole apartment was very clean. I had an excellent stay here!

    Audrey2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • The peaceful environs and incredible view cannot be overstated! Great proximity to downtown Portsmouth.

Our home has "been in the family" since 1954. I purchased it in 1980 from my parents and raised my 3 girls here. We expanded and added guest rooms in 2000 to accommodate my aging parents and visiting siblings. Now that we are "empty nesters" we are happy to welcome others to this beautiful corner of Maine, just over the border from New Hampshire. This guest space could be a wonderful choice if you are in our area for a temporary work assignment or to attend a class or seminar for a few days.

Enjoy gorgeous views of Wingate Farm. George Washington didn't sleep here but he definitely visited his friend Paine Wingate. Queen bed upstairs. Double futon downstairs with extra child's futon. Sleeps 4 1/2.
Just remodeled, private entrance, two floor apartment, with eat-in kitchen and living room downstairs, bedroom and bathroom upstairs.
The small farm sits in front of one of the luxury neighborhoods in Stratham and close to Exeter, Greenland, Portsmouth and the Seacoast.
  • Loved it, very tasteful, had everything and then some. Easier to list the negatives than the positives because the only negatives were that the kitchen didn't have a really sharp knife in it and the shape of the coffee mugs was not to my taste 🙂

  • Nancy was incredible. Considering the prompt rate of her responses, checking in if we needed anything as well as how gorgeous and comfortable the property was, this was an absolute steal. If you are considering staying here, I promise you will not be disappointed. Nancy made this the best possible experience we could have asked for; It wasn't just a stay but an experience. I cannot recommend highly enough.

    Ryan2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy’s place is even more lovely than the photos suggest with beautiful light and many touches most would never think about. It is stylishly and tastefully decorated yet feels very welcoming and comfortable. Nancy went above and beyond as a host to make sure we had everything we needed and we even arrived to find a “Happy Birthday” banner and cake stand after I mentioned that we would be celebrating a birthday while there. This is the perfect place to relax and unwind while still having access to all the amenities you might need within a short driving distance. Given the opportunity, we would go back. Highly recommend!

  • Nancy’s place is a true gem. We have enjoyed a number of Airbnb experiences but this one rises above the others. The space is full of natural light and is beautifully decorated. The attention to detail from drinks and snacks to toiletries, books, games and information about the local area make travelers feel so welcome. We were visiting family over the holidays and enjoyed this inviting comfortable retreat at the end of a busy day. Highly recommend to other travelers and hope to stay again when we are in the area.

  • Dear Airbnb, As I advised you, personal circumstances caused us to cancel our reservation at Nancy's place. However, since we canceled so close to the arrival date and had already paid the entire fee, and since we hope to go back there soon (it's our favorite place in Stratham), we decided not to request a refund either from Nancy or from you. Sincerely, Angelica Smith

Our home is tucked away off of Washington Street and feels secluded though we are almost in downtown Dover. Our home was built as a warehouse 100 years ago and was converted to a residence about 12 years ago. The apartment has a separate entrance from the rest of the house and has a private deck. The space is light and airy, both rustic and contemporary, with old floors and exposed rafters. We are a short walk to downtown restaurants and bars, and the train to Boston or Portland, Maine.
The apartment is quite spacious for a one-bedroom. The kitchenette is small but has most of what you'll need to put a meal together. The apartment has it's own private deck. Guests are welcome to use our larger patio and grill.
We are just off Washington Street which is part of the Silver Street Historic District. There are many beautiful historic homes here, built during 1800's, the peak of the Dover textile mills. We are a short walk to downtown and the old mills. We are also close to the turnpike and a 10-15 minute drive to Portsmouth.
  • The space is beautiful, and Jessica is a very thoughtful host. It's close to downtown Dover, but also is secluded and close to community trails

    Hannah2020-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was truly a wonderful place to stay! I wasn’t expecting to need to find it, but I’m so, so very glad that I did! Jessica and Doug were the perfect, most gracious hosts and I am incredibly appreciative of everything they offered and thought of in the space. It was tranquil, aesthetically appealing and relaxing—I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Exactly as advertised: a cozy little loft in the woods!

    Stephanie2020-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica and Doug have a lovely place; clean and very well maintained. The kitchen and fridge are well stocked for people staying a few days. Highly recommended and would love to stay there if I am in the area again.

    Deepa2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful and modern apartment in a great area. Jessica is a great host and offered amenities, a detailed map of the area, and everything we needed.

    Meaghan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We are return visitors to this amazing Airbnb and are never disappointed! A plate of complimentary Valentines cookies and a couple of cold beers were enjoyed after our long drive to Dover. This time we had breakfast at one of their recommended restaurants, 2 Home Cooks. All meals were made with very fresh ingredients, it was close to walk to, and it was excellent! We highly recommend this cozy place in the woods!!!

  • Thank you so much! This apartment is so clean and stylish. The bed is amazing, I’m dying to buy the sheets, and the whole place was impeccably clean. We loved staying here!

  • A beautiful and thoughtfully designed space. The hosts have great taste and all the meaningful details are well thought out. Such a treat to spend the weekend while visiting our daughter at UNH.

    Laurel2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica is an amazing host. Has everything you might desire for a week or weekend away. She had lots of amenities and the bed was super comfy. She is within walking distance to many local attractions and restaurants and a stone’s throw to the train station for further exploring. I came in the winter and she had everything from a shoveled driveway and stairs to warm apartment still living. I would definitely come again and refer others to her place.

Outside of these limited events, this is a quiet, tranquil space.
  • Ben & Sarah were amazing hosts and the place was great. Lots of hiking, nice space, and fresh farm eggs / honey... what else do I need to say?

Treehouse time! Time to nature connect, unplug, simplify, relax. Camp with birds, books, lanterns, blankets, snacks, stars, open outdoor spaces and maybe coyote howls. Did you know that we actually share DNA with trees? Time with them is scientifically beneficial to our well being. Plus, it’s fun to stay in a treehouse. We are a short drive to the ocean, sandy beaches and historic lore. Lots to explore via nearby trails and towns too. Tiny PineTree Cabin is yours for a little adventure!
AS RELATED to COVID... Yes, the treehouse is open! Host has been sequestered since mid March, and will greet you from a distance, with mask on if you prefer. You will keep back 6 feet please :) Accommodation opportunities are spaced out by 2 days or more. All is cleaned and sanitized before you arrive of course. No spaces are shared at the same time as the host. If you are looking to get out of dodge, consider this an outdoor camping experience, which makes it safer than a trip to the grocery store! And we trust you’ll be safe, responsible travellers when here and out in public places too. OK, are you ready for a tiny camping adventure in the trees? The tree cabin is ready for you with blankets, lanterns, pocket warmers and other comforts. (It is not set up with heat, electricity or plumbing, = camping) However, a 2 minute walk to the house offers all the “modern” amenities you might need :) The house guest room first, see where the bathroom is, charge your phone, stock the fridge, leave a bag, grab the cooler, and fill drinking water bottles here for you. The house guest room and deck are yours to use during your stay. Inside is a minifridge, k cup for coffee, a binder with eats and entertainment suggestions. You can use the guest room to hang out in, also for a 4th sleeper if inclined. Attached is a small clean bathroom with shower, fresh towels, soap and shampoo. This is the private WC you'll use during your cabin stay. The fire pit is at the house. Marshmallows for toasting too! Kindling is available to you, you can pull more from the brush pile, and pick up firewood at the store, or buy a bundle here. Now the real reason you are here... It is a 2 minute walk down the lane, to the Tiny Tree Cabin! The lane is wide and flat, and lined with stones our farming family pulled out of the earth as they created their fields. There is a little red cart you can use to transport your gear. The tree cabin is 6x12’ inside, with 3-5ft wide decks. It stands in a small cove of trees close to the edge of the lane, on the border of almost 200 collective acres of conservation land. 1 side deck is forest facing - trees only, the others also see some field, fence, lane and evidence of human habitatation. Underneath the cabin is an open area where you could sit with lunch at the picnic table, soak in some positive ions as you enjoy the swing, or play horseshoes, and badminton. Brought a tent? You could pitch it here. A solid set of narrow tread stairs with railings brings you 8ft up to the door. A sun dappled open deck on 3 sides of the cabin allows ample space to sit amongst the trees with provided camp chairs. Inside, a tiny, simple, pine walled, not insulated, well equipped, cozy little room. Here reside a couple comfortable canvas chairs, folding stools, small moveable tables, cot and camp mattress, wooden trunk, and a "kitchen" corner with plates, bowls, napkins, towels, cups and plasticware . In cooler weather there may be a way to heat water out there for a morning tea or hot chocolate :) Also available in the cabin: battery and solar lanterns, flashlight, extra blankets, umbrella, bug spray, hand sanitizer, basic first aid kit, board games and cards, sketching materials, radio, wildlife log and identifications, books, and binoculars. Oh, and a few snacks :) Windows on all walls let in lots of light, and 3 at floor level can be opened to screens and breezes. The sleeping loft is reached via a solid narrow ladder and small hatch. There are 2 new single adult size camping mats up there. Clean cotton sheets and pillows provided, extra blankets in the trunk. Nice green tree views out of the big glass windows. This is a space most can sit up in at the peak, but not stand up. There is a full size cot for sleeping (or sitting :) on the main floor, also with bedding as needed. (An additional 4th sleeper can be accommodated by... your tent, guest bedroom for one in the house, or moving the mat from the cot to the floor.) So accommodations can sleep a total of 4 guests, dependent on how “cozy” you want to be :) So that’s things to do, things to see, local info and snacks and drinks and trails and tales and tails and all the gear and beds and blankets, guest room, WC, decks, and one treehouse for you! PS: There are enough animals around here, we cannot accommodate your canine companion, but all humans ages 7 + are welcome! I
We are easy to get to from all points North, South and West, close to beaches and quaint towns, and nearby to some great trails and conservation land.

The Rafters is a finished studio space above our late 1800s barn. It has beautiful light and feels like a getaway as soon as you open the door. With the proximity to Portsmouth, NH and local attractions in Maine, you can escape to the Rafters, but with the ease of being so close to everything. Our neighborhood is beautiful and you can walk down to many spots that overlook the Piscataqua River. Or Uber home from a fun night in Portsmouth!
The Rafters is modern but sits above a lot of history. The bed is a luxury firm mattress, and there is a lot of character in the space. From the lobster pot coffee table to the skylights, this space is cozy and unique.
Our neighborhood is amazing! So many nice people and historic homes and we are a short walk down to the Piscataqua River. We are biking distance to Portsmouth and Kittery. You feel like you are further away than you actually are. We love to surf and kayak and be on the water, there are so many activities in our area.

It’s only about a ten minute drive into downtown Portsmouth, so a great home base.

  • This apartment was cozy and beautiful. Jan makes you feel welcome the minute you walk in the door. Everything is immaculate and practically sparkling. If you have any problems, Jan is really quick at responding. The apartment is close by to everything and there are a lot of things to do around it. It is perfect to watch the sunrise and sunset. You won’t regret choosing this place for a second. It is truly a rare gem and I’m grateful to have stayed in it for the weekend.

Fully equipped kitchen, walking distance to downtown. Restaurants/shopping/nightlife/theaters/walking trails/liquor store/grocery/gas/pharmacy/restaurant/pub/coffee shop/ice skating/laundry within a short walking distance. Boat tours/golf the seacoast has much to offer. 1 hr. from Boston, 1.5 hr from White Mountains.
In this 1890's studio apartment you'll experience the charm of the era's hard wood floors and more. In the photos, you will see a sign "Cabot St. Tavern" with a Guinness beer tap. This is the handle that pulls down the very comfortable queen Murphy bed. The full size futon is very comfortable as well. This unit is stocked with coffee and tea (decaffeinated and caffeinated). Local brochures, maps etc. are on the premises. This is a very friendly neighborhood and you'll just love the charm that Portsmouth has to offer! Please note that this space is a studio, although it can sleep four, it can be a tight space for four adults. The apartment is spacious for a studio with a full bath and dressing/luggage area and a small kitchen. Guest of four have stayed with us and indicated that they would return.
Portsmouth is a historical town dating back to the 1600's. Architecturally relevant to the period, a stay in Portsmouth takes you back to simpler times. Restaurants, open air music, and festivals are just a few of the things that give this romantic town the greatest of the "New England Experience."
  • Clean and tidy. Good location. Comfortable bed!

    Adam2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Apartment is wonderful, and accurately described. Parking on street was readily available, and the downtown restaurant and bar area are a short (10 min) walk away to make life even easier. Bed was very comfortable, and the gas fireplace/heater was a nice touch. Highly recommend!

  • My husband and I were in town to see a show at 3S Artspace. We walked into town from there... It was very convenient. The apartment is small but is very cozy, and has everything you need. It did not feel too small for the two of us. It was quiet at night, and the Murphy bed was very comfy, and simple to use. We would definitely stay again.

He is very quick with his responses and his directions were easy to follow and accurate. The apartment was very clean, spacious for two people, and in a great location for a weekend getaway to the amazing Portsmouth, NH! Located above all of the great restaurants, bars, and shops that downtown has to offer. I would choose to stay here again, and highly recommend it to anyone considering staying at Ryan’s apartment.

  • Ultimately we had to cancel our stay with Jan due to COVID-19. However, she was a pleasure to work with in terms of getting our reservation established, explaining and describing items relating to the property, etc. She will definitely be the first contact we make next time we are staying in that area.

    Jason2020-03-27T00:00:00Z

She has clearly put thought and care into many small things that add up, like portable night lights. I especially enjoyed talking with Jan and learning about the horses and farm - an unexpected bonus. Thank you Jan!
