Tom is very helpful, we drove from Suwon to Taebaek and messed up the address. We actually arrived at city hall instead of Tom's place. Tom was kind enough to drive to city hall and led us to his house. Tom's house is a very cozy wooden house built by locals and the location is quiet with a great view of the mountains. The room we stayed at had floor heating and private bathroom/ kitchen, it was very nice and clean. Because we arrived during the lunar new years Tom was not available at his home after the first night, but he prepared everything in advance and our stay was very pleasant. One night after we came back from skiing the uphill driveway to Tom's place was very slippery from the snow. Our front wheel drive Hyundai Sonata was not able to make it up the hill. So if you visit during winter we highly recommend you get some good tire chains just in case. We were lucky there was a single empty parking spot down the hill.

If you have ever wanted to feel part of a Korean family in the scenic mountains of eastern Korea, this is the place to stay. Tom and his wife were wonderful and kind hosts with a lovely home. The guest room was very clean and comfortable with an attached bath and door that exited directly outside. I wish I could have stayed longer to see more of Taebaek!

Tom and his family was extremely helpful and friendly. They had provided transport from their house and given valuable information on travel around Taebaek and Gohan. We had enjoyed ourselves very much staying over at his house. He had even showed us where to get the best Kimbap in Taebaek. The room is very cozy especially during the winter. The house location is not too far(a 20min taxi ride away) from Taebaek mountain which is a brilliant place for a good hike. Definitely recommended for those who wish to experience warm Korean hospitality. Thanks Tom and wife. If we have a chance, we will definitely visit again. :)

Yun Jin's apartment is just a few minutes' walk from the bus terminal and the train station. Yun Jin is a really friendly host. Upon arrival he served us coffee and had a casual conversation with us so that we can get to know each other. His place is well maintained and clean. He even prepared breakfast for us which is something we appreciated. Definitely a place worth a stay. :)

The place was very near to everything since it's near to the downtown. Prof. Choi was really accomodating and gave us breakfast everyday. He also treated us for dinner when i arrived. I really enjoyed my stay and i can say that this is the closest thing to a home. Definitely be going back.

The location is near to the Intercity bus center and convenient for moving around. The house is clean and decorated beautifully. We were treated nicely by the host and enjoyed a good time here.

This is the best bnb that we have ever stayed! The guesthouse is well-furnished and fully equipped with furniture and heater, that you really ask for it in winter! Besides, Yun Jin (the host) is so friendly to bring us a tour around Taebaek city and buy us dinner! Not to forget the breakfast and free ride to bus terminal as early as 7am! His friendliness and effort in giving out to us could not be described in words!

We had a great stay at Choi's place. He is very accommodating and even made us a delicious breakfast both days! He guided us to the best Korean restaurants in Taebaek. He also guided us to the Snow Festival and told us how to get around the town.

Without a car, it would not be easy to get to the hostel. But if you use your car, it is a place where you can have enough fun among the people who traveled from a secluded place. 우선 호스트분들이 너무너무 친절하게 이것저것 챙겨주셔서 감사했습니다. 대학교 친구들끼리 갔는데 밖에서 저녁먹어도 되나 물어보니 선뜻 자리도 마련해주시고 조명도 이쁘게 달아주시고 버너, 양념장 등 빌려주셔서 너무 감사했어요! 위치는 덕풍계곡 바로근처라서 삼척시내에서는 오래걸리지만 계곡과의 접근성이 좋았어요. 숙소는 이층침대 하나 더블침대 하나 총 4명이 묵기에 적당했고 전자레인지, 취사도구, 식기류 모두 준비되어 있으며 부족한점이 없었습니다! 전체적으로 가격대비 매우만족하고 즐거운 여행 되었습니다.

Amazing! My family and I arrived late in the afternoon after the drive from Seoul. With a little map study it was remarkably easy to find, despite being wonderfully isolated (which was just what we were looking for). Absolutely gorgeous location. If you have to leave the house, it is very easy to access the many attractions this area has to offer. Andrew and his wife served us delicious traditional Korean breakfasts each of our two mornings. With the sunrise as our back drop it was a great way to begin the day. We are already trying to clear our calendar for a return visit. Will remember to bring the tent so the more adventurous in the family can camp above the waterfall. Can't say enough about what a wonderful experience this was for all of us.

My husband and I, my daughter and her boyfriend had a fantastic time at Suseanjae for five nights. We drove from Seoul in a rental car, a little stressful for English speaking tourists who are used to driving on the left and can't read Korean! But which was really worth the effort. The drive there and back was very scenic. With our English speaking GPS and very good quality roads it was very manageable. Having a car meant we could take advantage of a few of the nearby sights. Samcheok and shopping, excellent beaches and many tourist activities within a 25km radius We loved Meongang beach the wonderful Hwanseon Caves. In between times we relaxed at the sublime rock pool on Andrew's property in blow up tubes and on the hammock, literally just behind the house. At night we were lulled to sleep by the stream rushing over rocks. The kitchen was well equipped for self catering. The house of two bedrooms (plus a little extension room through one of the bedrooms and two bathrooms was very clean and had the essentials of a traditional Korean home (floor mattresses and floor seating for low tables) plus modern conveniences like TV (which we didn't use), a music system and excellent wifi. Andrew was a very charming and accommodating host and the surrounding area has great natural beauty. Our stay made a welcome contrast to the hustle and humidity of Seoul and we would love to return one day.

Our host Andrew was terrific and his property beautiful. We had a little trouble locating it late at night and Andrew promptly met us on a known street to guide us in. Even though it was very late at night, he didn't hesitate to help. He was so accommodating and went out of his way to bring us fresh sushi he had caught that morning as well as homemade Korean Pajeon which was delicious. He was courteous and kind to our children as well and brought them inter tubes for enjoying the waterfall and swimming hole. I would definitely recommend him to others looking to stay in this beautiful location! Be sure to check out his delicious apple vinegar he makes himself!

I strongly recommend this beautiful place, the perfect house for a family if you want to spend some great time in family. I advise to visit the small but very old temple on your way to Samcheok. Andrew family welcome us as friends and even get to try some nice dishes made with vegetables from their garden. Great stay!
