  • We absolutely loved our relaxing stay in the Barn. It was just as shown - done to amazingly high spec with thoughtful touches like breakfast included (the tastiest eggs I’ve ever had!). Our spaniel also loved the use of the extra land to the rear. Felt nice and secluded however Helen was quick to answer any questions we had. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • We had a lovely long weekend in the cottage. The place is so well designed and styled inside and we loved just chilling in such a romantic spot. Perfect location to visit York but then escape to the quiet afterwards. Will definitely be booking another stay in the summer to see the beautiful gardens in full bloom.

    Kate2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Jennie and Mark’s for x2 nights and had the best weekend! It was unfortunately the weekend of Storm Dennis but even that didn’t make a dent in the weekend, on the Saturday we visited a nearby pottery painting studio and then went back to the cottage due to the weather - the cottage was perfect for a cosy lazy day, all spotlessly clean and with everything you could need. Mark was incredibly prompt when responding to messages and very helpful. Not a single bad thing to say and would definitely recommend ☺️

    Hannah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, peaceful cottage in the countryside only a short drive away from York. The cottage had everything I needed and was the perfect place to stay for the weekend, with local tips and walking information provided by Mark. Hope to return again very soon!

    David2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful place full of homely touches and lots of little extras. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. The space is incredible and you can see the hard work they put into converting it into a modern home. Would definitely stay here again.

    Alexis2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Chapel is a truly beautiful stay and the work which has been put into the renovation of this historic building is amazing. We stayed for three nights and felt really at home straight away. The kitchen was really well equipped, there were thoughtful touches like pastries which were left for us and parking was easy. The location is fantastic, quiet but very close to the supermarkets and town centre. We would recommend to anyone wanting to stay close to York and the surrounding areas. We used the local park and ride into the city and thoroughly enjoyed exploring beautiful Yorkshire.

    Tom2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Chapel was definitely one of the best places we have ever stayed. The attention to the renovation and the level of comfort and ease is unsurpassed. Everywhere there were thoughtful touches and we loved the modern comforts along with the original features of the chapel itself. It was cosy, comfortable and situated so close to everything and we were able to explore the East Riding and be happy to return to the chapel every evening.

    Barb2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully renovated, comfortable, quiet and short walk to central Pocklington! Sainsbury’s supermarket is about a 3 minute walk, too. Easy to park, simple access instructions and really thoughtful touches. Will definitely stay again! Thanks Owen!

    Caro2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend a beautiful space with all the home comforts in central location in Pocklington.

    Alison2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Chapel 2 exceeds all expectations! It’s the thoughtful touches which make this place a step up above from the rest... the crockery, the touches in the bathroom, the soft furnishings..... it’s just beautiful and to fully appreciate this home you have to visit. We cannot recommend it more highly. It offers exceptional value and will surpass the most intrepid weekender’s expectations. This place is an absolute gem!

Set in the grounds of The Jefferson Arms Pub in Thorganby. Ideal base to explore the surrounding nature walks and local fishing spots. It is also on a designated bus route into York city centre where you can explore all this historic city has to offer.
  • A lovely room and en-suite situated just behind the pub, so nice and quiet. Clean, cosy and warm considering it was February and the host, Sean, was extremely hospitable from the moment we arrived. Recommend an excellent steak served in the pub and the breakfast was plentiful.

    Nick2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay with Sean perfect location for a work related trip.

    Keith2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy room and great customer service. Had a couple of meals in the pub. If Beef Wellington is on the menu, go for it. It was yummy.

    Patricia2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • The room is situated above a Pub’s outhouse, it was spacious, tastefully decorated, furnished and very comfortable. I ate an evening meal in the pub and they were very accommodating, the breakfasts were also very tasty, you can’t beat a full English breakfast. A great place for visiting York and the surrounding area. I spent the afternoon at the Yorkshire Air Museum which was also a great attraction and situated a few miles away in a neighbouring village.

    Peter2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Jefferson's arms is a great place to stay if visiting York. 20 minute drive to the centre. The food was excellent, both breakfast and dinner, certainly will use again when in York!

    Sidney2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • A good room and shower, clean and comfortable with the added benefit of an excellent steak dinner in the pub. Well worth a visit and quite handy for York's attractions.

Beech nut shepherds hut is a wonderful space to relax in and slow your life down. Furnished simply and elegantly, it is the perfect place to escape and switch off the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You'll be surprised how spacious the hut feels, it's so roomy with a high ceiling. Plenty of cosy throws for curling up around the fire pit to watch the stars, wonderful walks straight from the hut and a freshly baked loaf of bread to wake to, what more could you need....
The shepherds hut is nestled in a corner of an apple, damson and pear orchard at the bottom of the owners garden. Secluded by trees and with wonderful views from your doorstep, it's a very serene place to stay. The hut can house two adults in the double bed, plus one child in the day bed, a travel cot can also fit easily. Whilst luxurious, this is still 'glamping' and so a short walk must be made across the garden to visit the toilet and shower room. This is accessed by the owners utility room where you will also have your own small fridge, worktop area, microwave, kitchen sink, washer, drier and access to freezer. An electric stove, kettle, beautiful dresser, sound system, toaster, book selection, throws, log burner, complementary logs, towels and bedding are all included in your stay. The hut is situated on a working farm, but hopefully any mooing, baa-ing and the occasional woof won't intrude on your stay! You are welcome to wander around, ask questions and collect fresh eggs from the hens if it interests you. Fresh baked bread for your first morning is included, with the option or ordering adding on extras- smoked salmon platter, porridge with cream, honey and spices, fruit platter or a patisserie selection at an addition cost. They can be delivered to the hut or left in the utility room for you to collect at your leisure.
The nearest small town is Stamford bridge, a five minute car drive. Useful for co op, butchers, pharmacists, cafes and a couple of ok pubs. Some wonderful traditional and gastro pubs are all close by too. York, Whitby, Scarborough, Leeds robin hoods bay, Filey, Helmsley and Beverley are all within driving distance and are wonderful places to visit.
  • A beautiful shepherds hut in a lovely location with friendly hosts. As other reviewers have said, warm enough in January :)

    Sally2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage and a place I would recommend to others to stay. Although it was a bit tricky to find at first, Catherine and her husband were very kind and hospitable. The cottage and utility room were very clean and had lovely touches including a home cooked breakfast which was delicious!

    Ashleigh2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lived our stay. Was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and take the dogs

    Beca2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The shepherds' hut was a very relaxing stay. With the freshly baked bread and other amenities it was a lovely place to have a slow breakfast in the sunshine and then spend the afternoon exploring York. I stayed at the end of October and it was lovely and warm in the hut.

    Elizabeth2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely escape just outside of York, travelled at the end of October and was very warm and cosy inside the hut. Lovely touches like fresh bread in the morning and was really quiet to say it's on a working farm. Thank you Catherine and family for having me :)

    Kelly2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed our stay at the Shepherds Hut, helped by glorious weather. It's much more spacious than you'd imagine and well equipped. We loved being on a working farm- it certainly makes you appreciate how hard they work, especially during harvest and yet still had time for a quick chat. If you like a rural location, but within easy reach of a historical city, coast and other attractions we'd definitely recommend it as a place to stay that's a bit different.

    Paula2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Nice setting in an orchard on a farm. Lovely and quiet.. Little walk to nice shower and toilet, but easy to get to.

    Mark2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Really beautiful shepherd’s hut located in the farm’s orchard. Kitchen facilities and shower were located in the main house’s utility room about 20 seconds walk away from the shepherd’s Hut. Great base for exploring the North Yorkshire moors and seaside areas. Highly recommended.

  • Fantastic place in a lovely quiet area. Perfect for a quiet few days. The surrounding area is picturesque and we caught 2 beautiful sunsets on the horizon. Only woken up by the wildlife, meaning there is no traffic noise which gives a very tranquil stay. Used the park and ride to get to/from York which was very convenient to avoid parking charges while visiting. Would visit again for sure. Only advice I would give is take your own hand soap as there wasn’t any for our trip. However, Sophie is a great host and was very quick responding to messages. 5/5 stars:

Loved the decor, the sofas were so comfortable... the quirky decor was just fabulous and the pineapple light shades were amazing. I need some! We wandered 3 miles to a local pub and loved it for a nice walk out for a few hours -Melbourne Arms. Well worth it! Would definitely recommend and would be tempted to return!

  • Thank you to Kath and her family for a lovely 2 night stay at the stables. The room is amazing and with the heated floors its so cosy, comfy bed too! We enjoyed the peaceful surroundings especially from the hottub! Both pubs that Kath recommended were welcoming and had delicious food. Would highly recommend staying at the stables, from Chris, Olivia and Patricia the dog x

  • Really enjoyed our stay, would definitely book again. Kath is a lovely host.

  • Great place to stay and excellent value . Easy to find. Love the little touches like bread , jam and Prosecco . Loved the underfloor heating but be warned to keep it low and it’s gets very toasty . If anyone wants to watch films remember to bring a fire stick or something as that was the only thing missing . Hot tub was a perfect addition and lovely after a long day’s walk . We will definitely be back in the future Thanks Chris and Jon

  • We had a brilliant stay at the old stables, lovely and peaceful. The photos don’t do this place justice! Kath was a great host and really thoughtful with the additional little touches. Thanks again :)

  • Thankyou so much for allowing us to stay. We had an amazing time and the Pod's are so cute and cosy. So close to York :)

    Melissa2018-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Ben's place is perfectly quaint while being functional as well. My pod was perfect and had a supplemental heater I used as I run really cold. The shower/bathrooms he built were surprisingly modern and there's a small kitchen for use as well. I slept comfortably and would definitely rent again if in the area!

    Rebekah2018-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful location. The accommodation is immaculately clean. There are some great pubs nearby.

    Roy2018-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to stay. The pods are well thought out, in a great location and everything is so well looked after, clean and tidy. Useful information regarding the surrounding area is provided on check in and any questions we had during our stay were answered on site straight away. Can’t fault this place and we can’t wait to return!

    Rachel2018-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • This site is beautiful - the pods are lovely and the toilets and showers are very clean. Well positioned to get easily to a park and ride to York city centre.

    Fiona2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our stay in the eco pod. Even though we stayed in November the pod was warm and the trip was enjoyable. Ben had advice about things to do in the local area and in York. We will visit again in the summer!

    Carly2017-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Ben is a great host, easy to communicate with. The accommodation is a but further out of town than expected, but easy to access by car or bus. Great unique accommodation option

  • Absolutely amazing host! Specifically with the current issue of the corona virus, the place was thoroughly cleaned and was maintained by Chris himself throughout the tour of the property. Lovely area, the Garden suite is beautiful for couples who are looking to escape for a few days! Would highly recommend!

    Hannah2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic stay with brilliant hosts. The apartment is stunning with gorgeous touches and Chris made us feel very welcome. I would definitely return and highly recommend choosing the Garden Suite.

  • Me and my boyfriend stayed in the garden suite over the new year, there’s absolutely nothing we can fault! Chris and Nicky kindly picked us up from York and took us to the property we can’t thank them enough! The garden suite itself was so homely and had everything you needed, the hot tub made the trip for us it’s a great size and very clean

    Caitlin2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • From London to the North, this is a perfect getaway with an insanely hospitable couple who couldn't have been kinder or more generous. They ordered us some meat from the local butcher to make Christmas Day so easy, and went out of their way to make us feel as at home as possible. The hot tub is a lovely way to spend the evening, and the bath is also wonderful. While the space itself is connected to Chris's family home, they are incredibly respectful of private space and even when we were out in the hot tub, they ensured we were always given privacy to relax and unwind.

A feeling the city homes or posh hotels cant give you. The Hot Tub is not your average holiday home tub, it's big, the jets are wonderful and its modern. Although anyone who enjoys a woodland setting and the wildlife that goes with it would also have a great time. Easy access to York and shopping centres. Yorkshire Wolds, Castle Howard and the East Coast and Sandburn Hall.
We are situated in a conservation village in a woodland setting. The views out of each window are a pleasure. Surrounded by farm land with great roads for cycling and exploring Yorkshire’s natural beauty. We offer a good sized room with king size bed. TV, hospitality tray, fridge, hair dryer and private bathroom. Cereals, fresh milk and juice in the fridge. Plus a few treats! Tea and coffee, hot chocolate always available in your room. We believe we offer excellent value.
Sand Hutton is a small village with a beautifully church and Norman ruins of a previous church called St Leonard’s. A quiet village with no street lights so you may need a torch if you want to wander at night. No public house or shop. But everything you need is not to far away. A woodland location surrounded by farm land and of course lots of wild life. Many species of birds! There are a few cockerels crowing the morning but that is the country side.
  • Superbly located for the Sandburn Hall where we attended a wedding. Delicious food at a local pub recommended by Karin. The room was spotless, plenty of breakfast choices in the room and a very comfy bed! I would definitely recommend staying here. We even squeezed in a Parkrun at Castle Howard before the wedding with it only being 15 minutes drive away.

  • Extremely comfortable and clean, with great hospitality. Karin's place provided an excellent base for us whilst visiting the area. Delicious breakfast included too and a few lovely treats. Highly recommend.

  • A very stylish, spotless and well thought out space hosted by a warm, engaging and helpful couple.

    Graham2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Karin's place is a lovely room in a picturesque village. We really enjoyed our stay. Just be sure you know exactly where you're going. The GPS brought us to the middle of the lane leading out of Sand Hutton and announced "You have arrived." We eventually got directions from a woman out walking her dog.

    Jenna2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place, so peaceful and relaxing. The treats and breakfast were lovely. Karin & Chris were so kind to accommodate us at short notice. Their home is immaculate and very comfortable. A perfect base for visiting York and beautiful countryside nearby.

    Tori2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and comfortable. Thank you

    Heather2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Set on the edge of the lovely village of Sand Hutton, Karin's house is a lovely period property. We stayed over a weekend, and really enjoyed our stay. The room was a good size and nicely decorated, and the bathroom facilities were also good. It is a nice touch having tea and coffee making facilities, along with a selection of cereals, croissants and jam for breakfast, along with other snacks. We used the house as a base for a wedding we were attending nearby, however it would be an ideal location for exploring York and the surrounding area. Highly recommended!

It also has a an array of unique shops, cafe's Pubs and eateries on a couple of minutes away as well as an Arts centre and a leisure centre. Its a short drive or bus ride into York too.

The ground floor has a fabulous lounge with smart tv /dvd player/x-Box and comfy seating. This leads through to a dining area that has games, books and lots of local information, all wrapped up with the 1859 Houses' original features mixed with local art and engaging vintage . The unique kitchen has lots of facilities including washer, dryer, dishwasher double oven and hob, fridge freezer and unit for hanging all that outdoor gear. The kitchen is also stocked with a basic larder and your host will contact you to see if you would like other provision ready for your arrival. Parking is on street outside the house, in the quiet residential road.
Pocklington is a delightful small town with lots of unique shops , pubs and eateries and its just 2 mins walk away! Its a quiet residential road but right on the doorstep of cycle and walking routes. Pocklington offers plenty of places to eat including Indian restaurants, fish and chip shops, a Chinese restaurant, an Italian and a bistro plus 2 pub/restaurants so if you don't want to cook you really don't need too. If you like to cook there are 3 supermarkets within walking distance too. We also have the fantastic Arts centre that regularly has top names like the Shires, Al Murray, Jason Donavan etc plus shows films . We also have a park plus the fabulous Burnby Hall Gardens which has amazing gardens, a cafe and band concerts too.
  • The house is everything that one could hope for - and Barbara couldn't have been more helpful! The purpose of the visit was to see a relative who has been living in Pocklington since the early 1960's. We are very familiar with all that Pocklington and the surrounding area has to offer, and if it has entertained our family for nearly 60 years, rest assured that there is plenty to do for a week! It is the first time I have booked through Airbnb - and Barbara couldn't have done more to reassure me that I had understood the process, and that I had done all the right things. And even when it appeared that another event might require us to change the booking to a different weekend (in the end, we didn't) she took this all in her stride. But back to the house. We couldn't fault it. It is a lovely space, light and airy, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. So many thoughtful touches, from the cupboard that says 'Please eat me' onwards! I don't have the skills with words to describe it properly. You'll just have to go and see for yourself! Thank you so much. We'll be back!

    Chris2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcoming host in a beautiful , clean and tastefully decorated home. Highly recommend this lovely place.

    Helen2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara was a wonderful host. Communication was easy, and she was very responsive. She was flexible to our needs, and the house was fantastic for our trip and such a pleasure to stay in the wonderful Pocklington. Highly recommended!

    Katherine2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a special place to stay. It is stylish, warm, spacious and exceptionally clean. Barbara left us some extras such as milk and bread and there were some amazing flowers arranged on the dining room table. There were plenty of information leaflets regarding the local area. We enjoyed a couple of walks along the canal and around Millington. We also watched a film at the Pocklington Arts Centre (excellent value). Thank you Barbara

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • An immaculate and perfectly equipped house for our family of four. The accommodation is beautiful and spacious. A 20 minute car journey to the park and ride for York city was perfect for us and our plans for our few days away. We enjoyed take aways from the local fish and chip shop and the Indian restaurant. Both were excellent. We will definitely be back!

    Catherine2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The 1859 house really surpassed our expectations. Barbara and Mike are lovely hosts and the house is beautifully decorated. Lots of personal touches like board games and DVDs make it feel really homely and it’s very spacious. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it if you’re in the area and would make a great base for exploring York.

    Kezia2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, clean and spacious. Really well set up for our family, with thoughtful touches such as children’s plates and bath toys. Great location for walking into town, and a short drive/bus to York. Lovely and warm with convenient parking, lots of instructions and a well looked after home. We’ll be staying here again!

    Nick2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara’s place is the most beautiful place ever! So homely, there were also food/drinks (coffee tea etc) that we were given to feel free to have, but besides that the place was so clean and so amazing! We really enjoyed our stay, and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Beech cottage is built on a tidy working farm, attached to the main farmhouse. It feels in the middle of nowhere, but is only ten minutes from york, and easy for taxis to reach. Nearby are also the lovely seaside towns of Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington, as well as many quaint old fishing villages such as robin hoods bay and sandsend. Many visitors also love the steam train from Pickering, castle Howard, the north york moors and Yorkshire woods. There are so many cosy local pubs too!
The views are beautiful across fields and woods, with not another house in sight. Perfect for country lovers, who also want to visit york for a bit of city life. Dogs are very welcome, and previous guests have found the large pen ( which can be shared with our bassset, Dora ), very useful if they want to pop out for an hour or so and don't want to leave their dog indoors. There are endless walks straight from the cottage door, and a large porch for them to sleep in, making the holiday a lovely break for your pet too! The cottage is simply and stylishly furnished. Very warm with underfloor heating, a log burner and good supply of logs. Large bath and shower, and a comfy bed and sofa make this a perfect spot for travellers who need a cosy bolthole for visiting nearby attractions. Children also welcome, high chairs, travel cot, baby bath, steriliser and a wide range of toys can be available upon request. A swing, slide and lots of outdoor toys are also available in the back garden. A breakfast basket can be delivered to your door at an extra charge.
The cottage is a mile out of buttercrambe, or village, which is very sweet and old fashioned. We are three miles from Stamford bridge, a small town which is handy for popping to the co-op, pharmacy, news agents, cafe etc. There is also a choice of three pubs. York is 15 minutes by car, and there is a handy park and ride less than ten minutes from the cottage.
  • We felt very welcome, the cottage was peaful, comfortable and warm, and the bread and treats were a lovely surprise!

    Rob2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in Beech cottage . Lovely cosy accommodation on a working farm. Comfortable bed, great shower. There are plenty of places to eat out nearby. The cottage is very close to York, Castle Howard, and the Steam railway in Pickering .We used the Park & Ride to get into York which was very easy. Would definitely recommend Beech Cottage.

    Diane2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely clean cottage. It was warm, bright and welcoming with a very comfy bed & sheets. The bathroom was spotless and it was very handy having a separate bath & shower. The surrounding views are beautiful. Catherine was very kind, friendly & fast to respond. She very kindly said we were welcome to walk our little pooch around their land. They have a lovely little collection of animals which were a pleasure to watch, especially the baby chicks!

    Nicola2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous 2 days stay at Beech Cottage which is ideally located just outside of York and about an hours drive from the quaint little town of Whitby. We brought our dog Ruby along as we planned to do some walks around the area and had a wonderful circular walk from Whitby to Robin Hoods Bay and back, so was nice to be able to relax when we got back after a long day. The cottage is set on a fabulous working farm with sheep, goats, donkeys, chickens, cows - not sure if there's anything I've missed , but its the most immaculate farm I've ever seen! It is really warm and cosy and lovely to wake up in the morning to the great views across the farmyard. There is a log burner if required but it was warm enough that we didn't need to use it. The bed is really comfy and the bathroom has ample of space, everything was really clean and fresh so you certainly get a good nights sleep. We did a cooked breakfast both mornings to set us up for the day but ate out at night at a lovely pub called The New Malton in Malton, which was fantastic (you will need to book and can recommend the Fish and Chips) and is about 15/20 drive away and is nice to walk around as its a traditional market town. If you are looking for a relaxing stay then Beech Cottage is ideal, its so nice you won't want to leave.

  • Catherine's farmhouse is ideal for exploring the York area. You will need a car to get around, but there is so much to do you will need to stay a while. We stayed a week and it was fabulous. Neil also showed us around his fully working farm and it was amazing. The home is very warm and cosy for winter. It is very clean and well set up including everything you could need in the kitchen. Wifi signal is very weak but you are able to use it for the essentials.

  • We booked this cottage last minute for a relaxing break near to Castle Howard for some walking. I was very impressed with the cottage, its cleanliness and the way it looked.. a real home from home. We tried the pub just up the road for lunch and it was lovely and great value (and dog friendly). The cottage had every cooking utensil you should need and Diane left fresh milk, homemade cookies and dog biscuits which was a lovely touch and our dog thought so too! The bed was so comfy and the duvet thick and luxurious. We would definitely stay again :)

  • We had a great stay at Abacus Cottage where we went just to relax for a night and then do some nice walks the day after around Castle Howard. Finding the place was very easy and they keybox system worked well. Was impressed with the homemade ginger bread waiting for us! Easy to park right outside the door and there is a smart TV and a fire ready to light for a winter evening. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds have nice comfy bedding on them. We walked over to the local pub which was very friendly and dealing with Diane was super helpful and prompt. Would definitely recommend and visit again!

  • A lovely old cottage with a nice modern touch inside and it still manages to retain the charm and features. So for those that like character it'll tick that box. Again those that like modern and furbished to a high standard it'll tick that box. Excellent location just a stone throw from the A64. Easy to find. Directions from Diane spot on. She met us in person and communication was fantastic. The cottage is in a lovely little village and Castle Howard is on the doorstep. Will be looking to return once again to explore the area.

Have a look at the pictures of food available. We can offer English, Spanish and Moroccan meals. Please discuss your meal requirements when booking.
Peace and quiet yet only a short distance away from the delights of the City of York. You don't have to book a minimum of 2 nights as city centre places insist and also we have a large free parking area. We welcome well behaved dogs (With prior approval) but not upstairs in the bedrooms We have a utility room where they can happily spend the night-We suggest you have a cage that the dog is familiar with, to safely sleep in.
  • Expect a beautifuly presented property. Lots of books, cosy space, and everything you might want to make your stay comfortable. Spotlessly clean and warm. Paul was attentive and breakfast really was lovely. I was on my own as I was attending a course nearby but will definitely go back with my wife as I know she will love it. Village pub wasnt serving food that night, but nearby village had a very nice pub with restaurant. I understand Paul can also prepare evening meal if arranged in advance. Probably the best AirBnB stay we have had so far. If you intend visiting York you will need a car as the house is some distance out, but don't let that put you off as the park and ride from the outlet shopping centre is very good.

Paul helped with everything from restaurant recommendations to lending me a phone charger when I forgot mine and could not have been a better host. • Tadpole cottage is located in the most beautiful woodland area that really does help you feel detached from the stresses of the real world! Most of us left our phones uncharged for the majority of the weekend because this place really makes you want to connect with nature and enjoy some family/friend time. Everything you could possibly want was provided by Emma-coffee, shampoo, towels, slippers etc which was lovely to see! The fire pit and hot tub also enhance the stay and even though I imagine the outdoor space will be most enjoyable in summer, we spent most our time sat in the garden mid-March and loved it! What a wonderful weekend.

  • This was our stay at Emma's amazing house. We had the most relaxing time ever. The house was spotless, thoughtful touches of breakfast cereal, milk, teabags, coffee and biscuits. The children played in the games room, fed the chickens and ran free in the garden. It was a blissful stay and we hope to visit again next year. Thank you Emma!

  • Amazing stay in this gorgeous cottage. The place is vast! Everywhere was clean. Love the lamps everywhere! My girls loved the garden and they were out there for hours running around. Hot tub is a bonus. Very private and certainly very peaceful. Emma has thought of everything that you have forgotten!

  • The photographs just don't do this little piece of heaven justice. The cottage is extremely spacious, even with 9 people, we died not feel on top of each other. Emma was a perfect host. She was on hand if needed, but did not call in constantly. She left some super touches like welcome biscuits and cereals, beautiful toiletries and individually wrapped slippers for the hot tub. The cottage was immaculate and exceptionally comfortable. We travelled with a disabled adult and a boisterous 9 year old - all were catered for with the accessible features, stunning grounds, chickens and games rooms. We went for a festive break - felt so cosy with the wood burner and array of soft blankets. We definitely will book again. This place is a gem and Emma is a marvellous host.

  • Super family or friend group space in the quiet of being in the middle of “no-where” yet near the lovely town of Pocklington or city of York. The garden in the size of a small field and leads to a large wooded area. Ample parking for several vehicles as the house is down a short lane from the main road. Very clean throughout, large family kitchen, open plan dining and large lounge area, and a variety of bedrooms from single beds to double. Emma the host is very friendly and easy to communicate well with if any matters arise. The space can be one large communal space or selectively zoned off with clever use of doors within the space. We are already in the process of booking for next year !

  • Emma’s place is an ideal getaway for families, especially with older guests. The younger members could explore the woods, and enjoy the hot tub. Had a lovely weekend, Emma is the perfect host.

The cottage is a Grade II listed barn conversion offering a welcoming base for your stay. Heating is provided by a biomass boiler, so very eco friendly. There is also a wood burning stove to keep you cosy. We are in a quiet village called East Cottingwith: a fantastic base for visiting York and touring Yorkshire. Ideal for cyclists, bird watchers, walkers and anyone who wishes to enjoy a rural location close to the attractions of the city of York. There is no regular public transport.
The cottage was originally an agricultural barn which has been converted to a high standard, using the original bricks but with modern insulation to keep you warm and cosy. The kitchen units, doors and windows have all been handmade by a local master craftsman. The ground floor comprises a spacious open plan living area with a separate kitchen. The lounge has a wonderful wood burner. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances. There is a also a bathroom with a large shower cubicle. Upstairs there are two bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin), and a toilet. The cottage is ideal for 3/4 people. The twin room has two single beds. Although it is a little snug for two adults, previous guests have been more than happy with the arrangement. You will need your own transport since there is little in the way of public transport.
East Cottingwith is a delightful village, mentioned in the Domesday Book. It is nice and peaceful, with lovely dark skies for star gazing. The mediaeval city of York is a must see (York Minster, Jorvik Centre, The Shambles, National Railway Museum) and there are numerous other attractions within easy day trip distance, such as Whitby, the North York Moors, Leeds and Castle Howard. We are near the York Maze and the Wedding Barn at Barmby Moor.
  • Lovely place, really clean and well laid out. It had everything and more that you need for a stay. Even enough fire wood for an evening. The host was there just after we arrived and then responded to messages immediately when I sent them. It is a lovely quiet location, about 25 mins from the York Designer Village Park n Ride , then 10 mins in on the bus. York was great for us with a 6 year old, lots to see and do. Thanks Mhairi and fam for a great stay, I’m sure we will be back x

  • Beautiful building with all the right touches. Nice and peaceful location within half an hour of York and only fifteen minutes from the York Air Museum. We especially enjoyed snuggling as a family in front of the log burner! I would recommend to anyone!

  • Mhairi’s place was absolutely perfect. Much bigger than expected, very comfortable for a family of four. It had everything you’d need, and is close to York and other fantastic cities. Mhairi was warm and hospitable, and we would absolutely stay at her Airbnb again. Highly recommend!!

  • Mhairi's Barn was the perfect setting for our trip to York. It's not far at all from the city, the Grimston Bar Park & Ride only 20 minutes away by car. The barn itself was very clean, modern and cosy, the wood burning stove in particular was lovely and perfect for the winter weather. The barn had everything we needed, and Mhairi was accommodating and on hand whenever we needed her. Would definitely recommend this as a place to stay!

Cosy 1st floor apartment with an open plan kitchen, lounge and diner. It has an L shaped sofa, fitted kitchen with a dining table and chairs. There is an adjoining twin bedroom with toilet, wash basin and shower. The apartment looks over Pocklington Woods and is situated next to a farm shop and café and is an approximate 1/2 a mile, 15 minute walk from the historic market town of Pocklington. The apartment has it own separate entrance. Max amount of guests is 2 and is not suitable for children
Only 1/2 a mile from the centre of market town of Pocklington yet it feels as though we are in the countryside. Views of Pocklington wood and the Yorkshire Wolds. Very peaceful and quiet
