Reikaku Yasaka | Gion | Historical Machiya

Reikaku Yasaka was a building in ruins with the floor tilted by at least 30cm when we discovered this hidden jewel. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. The result is Japanese craftsmanship at its best and we are very proud to be able to share the result with the rest of the world. Check our other house as an alternate option @ Reikaku Kiyomizu-Gojo

The house was an Ochaya (literally "tea house")before and we renovated it, which is an establishment where patrons are entertained by geisha. We kept the original structure and make it much more modern and comfortable. The river in front of the house is the must-see in Kyoto changing from cherry bloom to maples. The best location near Gojo bridge and Kiyomizuーgojo sta. can make it very convenient to all the famous spots.

One of the best vacation rentals in Kyoto, Shichijo-an is a lovingly restored Japanese townhouse with all the comforts Western travelers expect. This area retains a traditional Japanese feel with temples, shrines, and historical sites, and the inn faces the green trees and calm Takase River that color the center of the city. In front of the inn, you may see a female monk in a kimono or a nearby temple chanting.
