This adorable 100 year adobe brick house is unique and full of history. Back in the revolution, Grandma Paula after fleeding from the revolutionary forces, built this house with his husband Felix. They hand-made the many adobe bricks used in the building. Three generations have passed by and Now Her grandchild Sergei and His wife Lucy have renovated and decorated the house respecting its own essence. We keep the original photos of the house and love to share the history of it with all our visitors. "La casita de adobe" features modern facilities with an old world charm. You will find fascinating its beautiful and unique adobe windows and its colorful Mexican tiles. You will have a balcony with a view to the renovated fountain that 50 years ago was used for the cattle to drink water. It has its own private bathroom, kitchen, dining room and a beautiful private garden. It is located only 20 minutes from downtown Oaxaca and Taxi and bus services are available few blocks from the house. On the other hand, If you want to enjoy the surroundings, you have plenty of options in our quiet neighborhood. You ll find on a walking distance a beisbol field, an arts school, a café, a ballet and dancing school, and a huge modern gym with pool. Also five minutes by car golf and tennis classes, restaurants, public pools and the famous arts museum (CASA Centro de las artes de San Agustin Etla) We ll feel happy to help you in anything you require to make your stay with us very special. Unforgettable!!!
“We stayed at Lucy and Sergio’s “Casita de Adobe” for three weeks. They were wonderful hosts (both speak English) and we enjoyed having a real Mexican experience and staying outside of the hustle and bustle of the city. At first taking the colectivo taxis into Oaxaca was a little confusing, but we got the hang of it within a few days—it’s very inexpensive and we got to see real Mexicans going about their daily lives. We went into Oaxaca about half of the days of our visit, and on the other days we enjoyed little San Sebastian, walking, exploring, relaxing, doing our daily chores. The Casita is cosy and cute, with a kitchen that functions well, a great outside dining area (with a roof over it) with a very sweet private courtyard with a pomegranate tree, a turquoise fence and a purple hammock! Sergio offers some local tours, and one day he took us to San Augustin to see the “CASA” museum (Centro de las Artes de San Agustin)—an interesting and picturesque museum and town. We also hired Sergio to take us to a nearby butterfly sanctuary. The bed was very comfortable, and there was enough storage so that we did not have to live out of our suitcases. We took a couple of tours to see the sights outside of Oaxaca and enjoyed some of the museums and the mercados inside of the city. We especially enjoyed the “MUPO” (the Oaxacan Painters Museum). We got to experience some of the Dia de los Muertos celebrations, both in Oaxaca and in San Sebastian. One of our favorite things was watching from the rooftop as the little village woke up and watching the sunrise and sunset. There are many dogs around town and in Oaxaca, and we did hear barking at night, although we did not let that bother us. The Oaxacans have a special relationship with dogs, as was explained to us by Julio, part owner of the Belissima Pizza Restaurant down on the main drag (great Italian and Mexican food). Although the dogs roam around the streets, they seem to be well fed, and just participate as part of the local community! We also enjoyed the Asian restaurant down on the main drag, which has limited hours but excellent food.”
The name Loohvana has being inspire by the old Zapotec name of the Etla's valley, meaning " valley of seedling". I have four bedrooms of different size and occupancy. Each have their own bathroom, beds, working and resting areas. Throughout the house the guests can share and enjoy several libraries, reading and working areas, a great collection of art works, terraces and gardens with beautiful views.
“We had a wonderful stay with Michelle and her lovely family. I have stayed in San Agustin Etla previously and wanted to go back and spend some more time in this lovely village. I honestly wished we’d booked to stay longer with Michelle! The house is beautiful and the room and communal areas are wonderful. (The pictures don’t actually do it justice!) My children loved running through the gardens and we loved spending time talking to Michelle and her lovely family. Cannot recommend enough and am already planning a return trip!”

“The property is very cozy. You will find a lot of tranquility in the area. To the north, 1 mile and a half away, there is a cultural center (exhibitions of regional and contemporary art, in a former convent rescued by the famous painter Francisco Toledo. They'll take stunning pictures. Less than 10 minutes away is Hacienda Santa Martha, a buffet restaurant with more than 100 regional dishes at about $ 10 per person. Try it! The property is very cozy.
