Welcome to 18 Lake. Situated in beautiful, quiet, Port Kent, NY., this is the perfect place to relax and to get away. People come from all across the country to tour the area on bicycles in summer, and from all over the world during the winter for Lake Placid's winter sports. In fall, the colors are incredible. You will find golf about 1/2 mile away, and other attractions such as Ausable Chasm, High Falls Gorge, orchards, boating, hiking, and more close by!
“Marco’s house on Lake Champlain is just gorgeous. It’s sparkling clean, modern, and spacious. The middle deck looks out over the lake, and the view is really at the height of perfection at sunrise, when the sky and lake are pink. The train runs by the house at night, but it isn’t obnoxious at all. My boys loved running out and catching sight of it.”
Tucked in the woods on our working sheep farm, our off-grid tiny house is the perfect escape and stepping stone into the Adirondack mountains for hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing. Enjoy the coziness of the Crook between forays into our north country wilderness! What you will find: adventure, peace, quiet, woodstove, candles, down blanket, fire pit, privacy, composting outhouse, firewood for sale. *Please note there is NO electricity and NO running water. Akin to glamping!
“The Shepherds Crook was a wonderful get away tucked into the mountains. The view of the farm was amazing, so amazing that we made it a point to walk there every morning for sunrise and sunset! Tyler and Shannon were wonderful hosts and went out of their way to give us directions and recommendations to local hikes. We loved all of the small details from the cozy feel to the adventurous feel. We were also provided everything we needed and more than we anticipated including the water jug to the camp stove and kitchen amenities. Thank you again for making our weekend getaway both breathtaking and unforgettable! We will hopefully be back in the future.”
Step under a pair of moose antlers and enter a serene world without cellphone reception. Swing in a hanging log chair and have a BBQ on a screened-in porch with views of a pond. Borrow a canoe and go paddling on nearby lakes and rivers. At Camp Arden, we follow Airbnb’s and the CDC's recommended enhanced cleaning protocols.
“This place is really special. If you're lucky enough to see an availability — book it. It really couldn't have been a better retreat into nature and to get the most out of a summer trip up to the Adirondacks. The entire place was immaculate and looked even better in person than in the pictures. The cabin is decorated with quirky rustic furniture (that I believe the hosts make themselves) and a little history of the Adirondacks and the grounds (camp Arden). Sitting out in the enclosed porch watching the sunset over the campground's private lake makes you feel like your died and went to heaven. There's a beautiful, secluded hiking trail beyond the porch, across a little bridge where you can go deep in the forest and possibly see moose and beavers in the ponds. There's also an outdoor firepit to yourself. We didn't partake in any swimming or fishing in the lake, but that is available to guests as well. Amazing place that we'll certainly try to come back to again the next time we're in the Adirondacks.”
