The Cabin is located at Hamurana, in a 2 acre garden setting 350m from Lake Rotorua. Located 120 m from the owners house and is completely private. All around are Sugar Maples with ferns and native plants underneath which attract the fantails. Purpose built and architecturally designed in 2019 as a holiday retreat using passive home guidelines. The cabin is a 15 minute drive from Rotorua CBD, close to all tourist attractions while allowing you the peace and quiet of a luxury retreat.

Our place is a unique architectural designed passive solar straw bale home, with recycled native wood and natural clay finish. Enjoy the warmth, peaceful feel and views of the beautiful Maraetotara valley and relax in the natural spring water hot tub. A tiny isolated hut amidst Kauri and Rimu trees to escape the world, self check in. Outdoor Fire, long drop, outdoor hot shower/bath. Surrounded by Tuis and Wood pigeons the hut is close to Piha and Karekare…or simply stay and enjoy nature. Beaches are 10 minutes away by car. Grocery shopping and gassing up recommended beforehand. Misty Mountain Hut supports local Piha staff by paying $40/hr.
