“We had an amazing long weekend in Terlingua made all the better by staying at Carmen’s wonderful tiny house. Even despite it being July desert weather, in the middle of the pandemic, with many shops/activities temporarily closed—we still found plenty to do with an amazing place to lay our heads at night to take in the surroundings of Terlingua (incredible view of the desert and mountains, especially at sunset/sunrise). Carmen was incredibly helpful as we prepared for our travel to Big Bend, super communicative during our stay, and just an amazing host and ambassador for Terlingua and the surrounding areas. The house itself was much nicer/cleaner than we expected with a sufficiently equipped kitchen, spacious loft bed, and detached bathroom with rain shower. We wanted for nothing - it was perfect. We’re already looking for the next time we can venture down to Big Bend and stay at Tiny Terlingua!”
Step back to a simpler time in this comfortably updated authentic ruin in the heart of the ghost town. Built by miners a hundred years ago, its spacious porch affords the best view of the Chisos Mountains and Big Bend National Park.
“I stayed at Betty’s little Terlingua adobe for a long weekend spent exploring and off-roading in the Big Bend region. For location, you can’t do better — it’s ideally placed for nearly anything you’d like to do. The structure itself is simple and inviting: a truly cozy little getaway with a comfortable bed and good amenities, where at night you can go outside and see a million stars.”
Update: I am blocking out the day before guests arrive and the day after departure. This gives the Caravans a good rest period of 24-48 hours between guests Along with a deep clean before you arrive I take my temperature, wear a mask at all times when inside cleaning. I'm staying home with very limited contact with the world. I take every precaution to make sure the Caravans are safe for you. A fully equipped kitchen offers everything you need to cook all your meals. You never have to leave!
“Fabulous location with great views of other camps that make you feel like you are living in another time. The caravans are situated just outside the ghost town but close enough to walk to restaurants and the sights. Everything on the property was exactly as described, and we were very comfortable during our stay. Kym is extremely responsive and helpful. On the day we arrived, the national park suddenly announced it would be shutting down until further notice. She let us know immediately that if there was something we absolutely wanted to see, to get out there that evening before the lockdown went into effect....then provided us with plenty of ideas to keep us entertained for the next few days. Big thanks for that heads up. Santa Elena Canyon was a stunner! If you want a quiet weekend away where you can truly disconnect, this is the place. Make a campfire, ignore the wifi access, and just breathe in the fresh desert air while taking in the mountainous surroundings. If your stay happens to fall during a full moon, don't miss the opportunity to watch it rise up into the sky from "behind" the mountains in the distance. Truly incredible. I would definitely stay here again!”
