Because Chai Tow Kway! Also known as carrot cake. They don't make 'em like this anymore nowadays, all scattered and shattered and delicious. Everyone just fried it all into an omelette-esque pancake (which I hate), so I love letting everyone know when I've found the kind of carrot cake I love! Also good: wonton mee and mutton soup. It doesn't hurt that on Sundays, what seems like Singapore's last remaining bird lovers congregate in the block next door for their weekly bird meet-ups, where the birds sing to each other and have a good chat and catch-up.
