Boone, North Carolina and the surrounding areas are home to some of the finest trout streams in the eastern United States. Both rivers offer a unique experience and are very different in character. The Watauga fishes like a large freestone river and the South Holston is more like a large spring creek. The Mother's day Caddis hatch on the Watauga is a must see, and the South Holston is famous for a Sulphur hatch that starts in May and can last until November.
